In all fairness, there is as little about the Energon line we didn't complain about. Fatimus Prime, anyone?

Doesn't look like anyone answered this one, which is a bit of a surprise. Maybe they didn't notice the question tucked away at the end of your post?
Anyway, unlike the other two replaced bots, Groove is still a part of Defensor. He is just now a Legends class figure:
Meanwhile, since you can't have a Legends class limb, there is a new guy, named Rook, who becomes a SWAT vehicle:
And poor Groove has been downgraded from limb to chest plate:
Since, even with the downgrade, Groove is still a part of the team, while still slightly bothered I can live with this option. Even if Takara pulls a Deluxe Groove out of their arses, I may still go Hasbro. I'll certainly go Hasbro for this one if Takara doesn't announce their intentions before Hasbro's becomes available for sale.

Not so fussed with Slingshot/Wildrider with new names yet, but the completionist in me will probably compel me to pick them up

At the very least get Slingshot so you're not saddled with Alpha Tossbag.

I see it, alt-mode close enough to the move version, though I'd prefer a paint job similar to the animated/ROTF design....

I think someone needs to the point out the psychological reasons for the denial of facts that shouldn't mean anything to adults in the first place.Burn wrote:TFFS wrote:Really it's more than childish to call Alpha Bravo not a real ariel bot. Brake Neck, Wildrider, whoop dee doo.......who cares? The only people who are picking these two up are the people who cried rivers of tears when they found out that they had been replaced due to death in G3 fiction. Crushing their dreams of shoehorning these next generation figures into their "geewun classics" collection, right next to their HFTD Seaspray and FOC Shockwave.

Not me. I prefer Alpha Bravo to Slingshot, but I'll still get him.
Burn, if you want to put me on the list like that other guy, then you'll have to go through my army of Alpha Bravos first!!!!!!!!!

I mean, they're good alright, but I don't really se myself trading off the possibility of having more variety in my combiner teams for geewun accuracy. (Also, I was born in '93, so my nostalgia is Beast Wars based)
If they somehow end up here in Brazil and if I have the spare cash at the time, I may get them. But I like Offroad and Alpha Bravo so much that I'm still doubtful.

Sabrblade wrote:FWIW, I'm keeping my Takara Superion preorder.
Me too. I described elsewhere why before, but it has a lot to do with 2 things, the price and the deco.
I am so pissed off that Walmart and Toysrus are raising their prices yet again in Canada (especially walmart with these insane price hikes), that the takara preorder was just a few dollars of difference. So I voted with my wallet and chose to not give my money to the local stores.
So I only spent a few bucks more and got figures with superior deco. And that’s the second part, the deco changes may look subtle on Takara, but they make a world of difference. They really emphasise the transformation process of Superion’s chest and how it is completely different to Silverbolt’s chest. Hasbro kinda squandered that chance by making everything painted red with no distinction.
As you can see with both my reasons, none have to do with the new member being included or not.

I'll be putting him with CW Optimus.

Thank you. Unlike my problem with the one-that-shall-not-be-named being shoehorned into Superion, I actually like this. It makes sense that a bike wouldn't be the same size as full-size emergency vehicles, yet he's still part of the team and hasn't been straight up replaced. And Rook fits in well with the others, being a SWAT truck. And yeah, Defensor looks pretty awesome. My only gripe is that his feet are too small, but I'm sure a 3P company will step up, like they did with Superion. Barring any turn-offs once he's physically available to gawk at, I'm sold on this figure as well. Is Bruticus next?Yotsuyasan wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:On a different note, I may have missed this, but if Groove isn't a part of Defensor anymore, who is replacing him?

While less cartoon accurate, I prefer the Hasbro version for the blue visor to give his face more differentiation.

I thought the name of the repaint was "Optimus Maximus". Doesn't matter, and it's redecos and retools all around:
Mirage: Drag Strip
Ironhide: Offroad
Sunstreaker: Breakdown
Prowl: ???
Rodimus: Blackjack

The repaint is Optimus Maximus, but the combiner the limbs supposedly go with is Ultra Prime (Or so I thought). The pic is a combination of the two, I included it to show the new limbs. And Prowl can either be streetwise (which would be kind of lame) or Brake Down (which I would preffer as an homage to RID).

Nice pics, Sabre. Can you do the rest of the Aerialbots as well? Also, is it just me, or does the CW Fireflight mold work better as Slingshot anyway, especially in alt mode. I don't think Slingshot is the "lazy repaint", Fireflight is! He was just released first.

Prowl and Streetwise, being police cars, share the same basic colors of black and white. Making one blue and the other black goes a long way of differentiating them on first glance.
@Wolfman Jake: Fireflight and Dead End effectively "stole" the alt mode of the guys that have been replaced: the Harrier and the Ferrari respectively.

I would imagine it would be so that Streetwise was a blue and white patrol car and Prowl was black and white patrol car. G1 Streetwise was black and white just like Prowl if I recall correctly. If they are the same mold this go round it would make sense to change them to different colors.

Oh, good. I was hoping that I hadn't missed out on the Alpha Bravo fanboys getting rekt'd over the presence of members of a combiner team that weren't exactly what they wanted. Butthurt, all your tears, etc. You know the rest, since it was flung so freely at people who didn't immediately wet themselves over Alpha Bravo.
