True, but what sets this apart is the replacement of Flanker aka Sky High with Phaser.

daww, that headmaster's adorable; looks like he wants to be somebody's friend.

I definitely prefer the Hasbro Tailgate, though.

It is actually similar to the system used for the smaller Headmasters: Hosehead, Nightbeat, Siren, Fangry, Horri-Bull and Squeezeplay: they all used a single tumbler due to size limitations.

It looks like there's just a spring and a clip on the techspec panel

Same principle, no? One single panel or tumbler for all 3 specs.

No i'm not denying that, I was just commenting it's a springy panel. until now I thought the tech specs were the details in the cockpit, like in place of the controls, not a panel that goes over it when the headmaster's plugged in .

He looks like he wants a hug. My hype levels for Brainstorm just increased even more!

Still, that new and simpler system on Brainstorm is a nice hommage without creating a costly gimmick.

The Takara Jetfire looks sharp and won't be a crumbling mess in 20 years. I'd prefer no chrome and more paint apps I think

I know! I took one look at the Hasbro one at the store then went home and pre-ordered the Takara one. NOT going to deal with another BM Jetstorm fiasco. I can wait til December for it to arrive.

25 to 30 on ebay, it was about 50 on amazon last time I looked.

The chrome can be removed from Hasbro Jetfire. There's red plastic underneath.Cobalt Prime wrote:welcometothedarksyde wrote:Arcee is his great aunt

I don't really have much of an attachment to Windblade, so I don't feel the need to spend more money on her.

My point is that it probably will be removed eventually, time will take care of that On the plus side I do appreciate that they made it red plastic underneath. So if the chrome does fail it won't be white or grey underneath. That Legends Arcee looks great

I do like how looking at Takara Jetfire immediately made me nostalgic for the G1 Jetfire toy.

and takara nailed arcee.

Chrome flaking and Gold Plastic Syndrome are two entirely different things.

Right. That's what I was asking. Were people afraid that the chrome was the entire mold, or just the flaking. Sorry if I wasn't clear in that.

Just the flaking. Don't get me wrong, structure-wise the plastic is fine, but the mere sight of chrome cracking and flaking... Besides, chrome has to be in a location that makes sense, not in random places like most of the Henkei line.

For those (like me) yet to get a new-mold Rattrap, what are the differences shaping up to be between Generations and Legends?

Takara's almost looks like it has less paint than Hasbro's.shajaki wrote:not a whole lot.RotorstormNZ wrote:For those (like me) yet to get a new-mold Rattrap, what are the differences shaping up to be between Generations and Legends?

Hisashi Yuki isn't quite done extolling the virtues of Rattrap, it seems, as he's posted more pictures of the upcoming figure and his Legends buddies. We've mirrored those images below:

Windblade looks considerably different and may actually have a way better face, but I've already paid for the Hasbro version, so... yeah. Too late, probably.
I also just noticed Brainstorm's headmaster can turn his head! WHOA. Is that a first for officially-released -Master figures?

It only depend on you. See the pictures, compare, and decide.

I always hear this. extra apps not worth the extra price. If you add extra toppings to your hoagie, don't you expect to pay extra? Same with the Tomy Japan releases. That and extra packaging and of course, it is more expensive in Japan.

TimothyR wrote:hey look, it's leader jetfire with the few extra paint apps that hasbro couldn't have been bothered to put on their version.. why i support and buy any of their figures is beyond me. it's stuff like this that makes me wish i lived in Japan.
Go ahead. Move to Japan and enjoy your liquidity trap.

Siger wrote:Does anyone think Takara Jetfire is worth the extra $20?
I think it's better without the extra paint that Takara offers, because it looks more cartoon-accurate, if you're into that.
The only difference as far as I can tell, aside from the weapons and white outline around the symbol, is that the Takara version has red cuffs on its boots; a longer red stripe on the chest and some black in the knees.
Personally, I would have omitted the red cuffs on his sleeves, too.

unfair comparison. it all depends on what kind of collector you are. me, ill own whichever one superior. even small details go a long way to me, and i dont mind paying the extra costs.fenrir72 wrote:I always hear this. extra apps not worth the extra price. end of the day, is it worth it to you?

Exactly.
A collector must collect what HE like. Not what other people like.
