Aside from the yellow visor and maybe darker chest window, Soundwave barely looks any different from the Takara version. Well done, Hasbro, well done!
And, great gooey gumdrops, Acid Storm looks sa-weet! A nice halfway point compromise between his show deco and Universe toy deco.

Soundwave: Beautiful. I will claim it and keep it locked away forever, alongside my TRU Prime. Forever will I have these great characters for posterity. Five cassettes is a hell of an included accessory, but I hope we get the Megatron pistol with this one too.

Bummed by the yellow visor, but it's not the worst thing in the world. What I'm really concerned about is the matte grey color he seems to have. I can see Hasbro skimping on the silver paint, so I'm interested to see additional pics confirming this either way.
Acid Storm looks pretty good, outside of the green eyes (and mis-transformed wings)... looks like his head is getting swapped with an alt mode Thundercracker! Just hope an MP-11 molded Skywarp's in the pipeline, and my Seeker army will be close to completion (barring the coneheads, of course)!

How do you mean? Soundwave looks very G1 to me.Rated X wrote:Why did they have to make the paintjob so Hasbroish ? Couldnt they just keep it G1 like everything else from the MP line ?
And Acid Storm has had two notable decos, and this one is a fair halfway point compromise between each.

I was so looking forward to this one...
Hasbro did an impeccable job with MP-10's eyes, why did they drop the ball with MP-13's?
Is it absolutely its final look?

*AHEM* Considering this deco makes Soundwave accurate to not only the original toy, but the UK comics as well, Hasbro technically kept this more G1 than the takara MP, which was only accurate to the G1 cartoon. The abbreviations relevant to his kids, therefore, go without saying.
Unless they worked in an eye-color-change feature, like MP Grimlock? Yeah, didn't think so. This is gonna' force me to get the Takara version down the road as well, since I love Soundwave so.

Not sure ... I sent an email to Hasbro's PR company to see if they can confirm one way or another if he will have yellow (toy accurate) or red (cartoon accurate) eyes. I know a lot of you were hoping for red eyes.
I was hoping for yellow since I've got Takara Tomy's version. Kudos Hasbro!

By comparison, Cartoon Soundwave was a hollow, empty shell of a character.
Posted by Nemesis Destron on March 4th, 2013 @ 3:43pm CST
What would be perfect is if there is a Grimlock gimmick and the eyes can switch color...just pure bad-ass!

Acid Storm is and always has been an easy pass for me, I'm just not interested in the character. The digital camo looks kinda cool though.

You're a brave man. I don't think I'd dare to attempt to touch-up a hundreds of monies worth of toy.Kapiko Customs wrote:Yellow eyes? No problem! My trusty airbrush is already happily shaking with anticipation !
Since this figure was obviously sculpted after the cartoon model I think it should have had red eyes. Wasn't comic-SW purple most of the time anyway?

I'm very happy to have my Takara MP Soundwave, but seeing as he's my favorite Decepticon I shall be springing for the Hasbro release too. I have held off on buying the Takara cassette minions because I knew Hasbro's was coming out with all 5. That right there is worth it to me! I'll likely display the Hasbro cassettes with the Takara MP Soundwave and get the best of both worlds!
Also, I hope for everyone's sake that the silver parts are actually painted silver and not a matte grey or just grey plastic!

...but a cooler dad.
Hell, if they do a limited edition $500 repaint in bold, Yomotov purple, I'll buy that too! After all, if anyone really wants to be an originalist about media-accuracy, the U.S. comic debuted first...
Acid Storm, on the other hand, I would've liked to be show-accurate. I guess his Universe deco has had more media appearances, and he didn't have a name until that toy came out, and it would be too simple a deco for a Masterpiece figure, but I'd just love to see huge stacks of his blinding glory at every ToysRUs! Dreamwave Sunstorm's color scheme was the result of an experiment making him radioactive, so if that TF/DC crossover had come to pass, Acid Storm would surely have been explained as being powered by Kryptonite, justifying a show-accurate toy! (well, Hasbro wouldn't say "Kryptonite" on the box, naturally) Oh well, if I buy him, I can just soak in the irony of his looking somehow less G1 than the green CHMS rainmaker...

Pics are nice, but let's get the to the real important stuff: Do we have an MSRP or release date for this yet?
Posted by sdn1337 on March 4th, 2013 @ 5:08pm CST
Acid storm is nice. I think he would look a ton better if there was more of the green to yellow transition to give it more of that "acid" look. Both figures are fine though. Now takara... let's see these new figures and not not some silhouettes!

Im good with Soundwave. I was referring to Acid Storm's paint scheme. MP is supposed to be G1 accurate. Not this crappy neo paint job. I can understand the classics mold, but why screw up the MP ? CHMS got the colors right...

Will more than likely get acid storm as well, really hope for the coneheads soon.
Posted by DecepticonFinishline on March 4th, 2013 @ 5:37pm CST
As far as Acid Storm is concerned, I think the paint scheme looks fantastic. And, as someone who lives in the Midwest United States, camo is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay way way overdone here, and I am not a big fan. Usually. This, however, looks awesome. If there was some guarantee that the other seekers would see a U.S. release with this mold, I would probably do it.

Oh, sorry! I guess I was thrown off by the two MP sets ending up in the same thread. As evidenced by my previous post, I actually happen to agree with you wholeheartedly on Acid Storm, so I kinda' feel like an ass for letting my antiGeeWunner-sense misfire like that. Damn, I even mentioned him glowing with radioactivity, and you had a pic of just that! Rock on, sir.
Maybe Takara will actually do a show-accurate Acid Storm someday with that MP-11 mold, but until then, those glorious knock-offs will stand proud and ironic as the only G1-accurate cartoon generic seekers.

As for Acid Storm, my two sons said he looks like, and I quote "puke-a-tron".
I don't hate it, but I am not spending 75 bucks on it.
I will have Soundwave and his minions, oh yes!

Aid Storm may not be as expected as I thought he would be, but still, one of the greatest additions to give some love to the Rare Seeker!
And unfortunately, MP-10 is not on sale at Toys R Us anymore, making those who didn't get him sad. So does anyone have any directions to any Toys R Us stores near by Chicago that still have him, or are there any stores in places (like Chinatown) or discount stores have him??? Please, give me any info!

I don't think there are any TRUs in the Chicago area that still have MP-10, at least not the ones by me on the Northwest side around Schaumburg, Niles, etc.

Acid Storm is an instant buy for me. It appears they meshed the spring-fall/forest patterns of both the U.S Army and the U.S Marine BDUs for his deco.
From what I can tell from the lettering on his canopy side, all I can make out is "SSGT", short for "Staff Sergeant", a rank in the Army, Air Force, and the Marine Corps. In other words: that makes me VERY pleased.

With all that said it still begs the one question of which one is Rumble and which is Frenzy, since Hasbro seems to lean more toward RIBFIR, but their original toys were FIBRIR. Ultimately this wasn't a problem for the Takara version since they never mixed it up, but Hasbro can never be settled on the matter...
Yeah, I know I just sparked an unnecessary debate, but can't be any worse than arguing about Soundwave's eye color...

I'm just worried about the price (especially since there will be 5 cassettes in the set)...& finding any at TRU.

Ah, so they are! Yellow-visored Soundwave implies Marvel continuity anyway, so even if the packaging ends up stating RIBFIR, it would imply that the "story" behind this Hasbro 6-pack involves Soundwave teaming up with cassettes from alternate realities.
And still, comic loyalist that I am...I honestly wish that one side of the pond had given us a blue Rumble with the purple torso and head he frequently sported in the cartoon, so we could just say that one is cartoon Rumble, and the one with more toy-accurate 2 shades of blue is comic Frenzy. There, I said it, and I'd love some story to someday depict them thus in the same universe just to piss everyone off.
No, Marvel's frequent use of dark blue for Rumble's black doesn't count!...sweet Primus, I might have just found a way to make the never ending argument even worse...
Oh yeah, here's hoping Hasbro does the right thing and makes it a 7-pack with the inclusion of gun-mode Megatron!

Also, I notice Hasbro ravage is missing some paint apps on his front shoulder. Also his knees and joints on the back legs seem to use black colored plastic, whereas Takara uses gray.
Hasblow, you cheap fucks!
