I just hope he's nice and big, and not the undersized shenanigans that Age of Extinction seems to be suffering from.

More or less the same height.

I'd rather see characters that haven't gotten the Classics treatment as well, but it has been 8 years since the first Classics Jetfire was released. That's a pretty long time, so it's cool that newer collectors will get a shot at the character without having to go through the secondary market.

Yeah, let's not celebrate how the Transformers came to be. Great idea! [sarcasm]
A comment like that is like saying "Diaclone is stupid, it should have never happened, just let it go". I don't mean to step on your shoes, but I don't think you understand the gravitas of this. Without Diaclone and Macross, Transformers wouldn't even be here. Hasbro and Takara know this and acknowledge this by releasing figures such as Whirl and the upcoming Roadbuster.
I dunno, I guess I'm letting my values take over here, but let me say this: just be grateful for what it is. It's a figure of a fan-loved character, it's in-scale with a good number of Classics-themed characters, it's got chrome, it's got a faceplate that's an homage to his Macross heritage... just freaking get over it and appreciate what they're doing!

Though a honking orange plane in that size might be a problem.
Maybe Timelines Ricochet. Or Flattop, minus his aircraft carrier.

That's a good way to look at it. I don't hate Classics Jetfire near as much as some people do but I'm still planning to pick this up. I would like to get a look at Takara's offering first, though.

Perhaps not, but he DOES look exactly like an up-gunned version of the Jetfire that's piloting the Ark-7 in RiD #28. No surprise really, considering how Thrilling 30 is pretty much IDW: the Toyline.

Technically, a Masterpiece-scaled Jetfire/Skyfire would be much bigger than this, since G1 Cartoon Skyfire was huge.Metro Prime wrote:OptimalOptimus2 wrote:This toy is like a 5.6. I assumed it was essentially a Masterpiece figure in all but name. I keep forgetting that he was utterly gigantic in the show.

Yeah: the upcoming Age of Extinction Optimus Prime and Grimlock. They're about as big as Ultras, as far as I know.

Sorry if this bugs you, but I don't like the way the MP-scaled Jetfire looks. It doesn't have the visor which is something that I loved about the G1 Jetfire toy. The DaCa Toys Kronos doesn't have the extra armor and I haven't seen a picture of a weapon or his walking jet mode. It's also something that HasTak has not or will never think of.

2. It does so have a visor.
3. The robot mode is based on the cartoon animation model, which deviated from the toy's Macross design to make it different enough so that it wouldn't interfere with Harmony Gold's Robotech series.

seriously? youd rather have a deluxe sized jetfire? if they did that, the other 99% of the fandom that want a big jetfire would probably burn hasbro HQ to the ground.Megatron Wolf wrote:Would've been better as a deluxe, gives it more repaint options & would come with a comic.

For some reason, that thing reminds me of H.E.R.B.I.E.

What's with all the chrome lately? It's everywhere (except, ironically, parts that should be chromed, i.e. smokestacks, bumpers, etc.. Not that Jetfire has anything that "needs" chrome).

It seems to be Hasbro's new incentive for Leader class toys (or for special toys like the Platinum Edition AOE Optimus/Grimlock two-pack).Noideaforaname wrote:What's with all the chrome lately? is it the potential back-heavy placement of the topside jet parts? or the relatively plain and slim (kinda) arms and thighs as compared to the upper body bulk? because jet mode aside, and i think this is a glorious piece of toy engineering, these are some things that kinda (a leeetle bit... okay, bordering on nitpicking) bother me somewhat.
or maybe the chrome or the excess guns?
somehow despite the awesomeness of this figure i share your sentiments on something a bit... off.
hopefully when it arrives our fears and doubts will be proven unfounded.

Dammit Va'al, I had myself pretty much talked out of getting this figure until you pulled THAT ace out of your sleeve. I'm still not a fan of the weapons but now all my arguments about the body style have gone out the window. Your are seriously on my wallets **** list now!

Believe it or not, I dont hate robotech. But I think its time to move on to skyfire already. Its one thing to buy a mold and incorporate it into a line. But it was never part of the cartoon due to licensing reasons. So why put it in a line of toys made to homage the cartoon ? Besides the macross jet is out of scale with other generations figures. Im assuming it was made leader class to give the robot mode a proper G1 cartoon scale compared to other generations figures. So why give it an out of scale coffee table jet mode that could probally fit a GI Joe figure in its cockpit ? Give it the cybertronian cargo jet mode that everyone really wants...
