Wow, they made an already awesome looking toy, Sandstorm, look even cooler. The greater amount of orange really looks cool. Still, I like my Hasbro one.
Megs is a straight up improvement on the Hasbro version. Chop Shop has a much better color to him too.

Megatron and Starscream look all wrong with those decos on those bodies. That body of Megatron's is not supposed to be colored like his ordinary G1 body, and the Starscream is supposed to have a different color layout from the G1 toy in that body. The Hasbro toys got the decos of these molds right.
Chop Shop and Waspinator look okay, I guess.
Sandstorm looks fine, but not different enough for me to pass on the Hasbro version.

Speaking of Chop Shop, I find it surprising TakaraTomy went ahead with him. I mean, G1 Chop Shop was a Bandai design (like Jetfire was), I wonder why Bandai Japan isn't sinking its teeth into this.

Oh hell yeah Takara you got my money! I'm so glad I chose to wait and once again it paid off!

Megatron and Chop Shop are the only good looking ones. Starscream and waspinator have no visual differences and Sandstorm is just horrid with all that orange.....too much orange

This is all fun and games.
But when do they voyager size up these commander Optimus and Megatron?
Takara colors look better by the way

Disregarding what is "supposed to be," I completely disagree. That Megatron in that deco looks more G1 than the Classics/Henkei/United Voyager.
If they upscaled this to Voyager, you know plenty of collectors, myself included, would automatically designate this guy as our Classics Megatron.
A man can dream, can't he?

My thoughts exactly, the little primes and megatrons look better than voyager classics prime/megatron.

I want a Starscream repaint as Skywarp with Venom.

I know Megatron is in his IDW "Megatron Origin" body, but Jesus H. Christ, Takara nailed it with a Generation One redeco!
Starscream doesn't look much different from his American counterpart.
Sandstorm, like Starscream, also doesn't look too different from the American release.

Not sure if Sunstorm or Sandstorm.

The Takara G1 colors repaint of Megatron is't surprising, nor is it surprising that it looks cool. It seems as if it would represent Megatrons transition from miner to gladiator all within Megatron Origins.
Edit: Odd that Chop Shop is in the muted Browns similar to his Beetra appearance.
Starscream doesn't look much different and Waspinator looks as if they tried to make him as toy or screen accurate as possible by making the wings grey.
Sandstorm looks good regardless of region in which it was released. This version seems a little brighter and flashier, but the U.S. release matches Springer better

I'm struggling to form an opinion on these three.
It's really not surprising Takara went for the colours they did with Megatron since (and I'm assuming here) the IDW comics aren't as prominent in Japan. He's looking very nice indeed.
Starscream...? Meh. It's different but not really exciting me like Takara usually does. I'll probably be a boring-Betty and stick with Hasbro's.
And all that extra orange on Sandstorm is making me want a packet of Opal Fruits for some reason. I actually feel like it's all a little too much. Like
Blurrz said, are we sure they got the right character? The yellow plastic on Hasbro's isn't all that bad so once again I may simply stick with Hasbro.
Wow, am I becoming a cheap-skate.

Going with the Hasbro version of a figure does not make one a cheapskate, so no, you're not. Many of Hasbro's figures nowadays are clearly superior to their Takara counterparts. You're just starting to see that, which is good.
Just because it's from Japan, it doesn't mean it any good.
