We have the official images for MP-45 Bumblebee from the Amazon Japan listing that just came online.
For those wondering, here is the breakdown of costs if you were to import it yourself to North America:
Items: ¥ 9,862
Shipping & Handling: ¥ 1,200
There will also be a Hasbro release and the only difference between Hasbro's release and Takara's would be a black slip cover for eglish writing (which you can see here). In Canada, that release will be available exclusively at EB Games for $159.99.The images show us the few accessories this toy comes with. Fellow Seibertronian made a nice comparison to the previous MP Bumblebee release which you can see here.
Enjoy!

I'd consider that a bit of a formality, really, The Bumblebee Movie had realistic Beetles, thus it required its use. It's more like "Not an exact match, but we have a license, show it as a sign of goodwill."
I'm fairly certain that's what the brand team told me when I asked about the Volkswagen logo on the G1 Bumblebee package last year at SDCC.

Isn't one of the main requirements for a properly licensed toy having the brand logo on it? That goes all the way back to RiD 2001 Side Burn.

No, the licensing in the west is not just about the logo but the shaoe of defining features such as headlights and the grill. With Sideburn since those features were too close to the real world version, Hasbro had to have the toy licensed to release it in the west. So since they had the proper licence (which Japan did not have) they were able to go all out and put the logo. They did not need to though.
Think of all those licenced western star Optimus toys that dont have the logo. And I dont remember seeing a Lancia logo on MP wheeljack ( though i may be wrong)

If Amazon.jp ships hassle free to the US (at least)… they're really going to give the local importers a run for their money... 30% of MPs and Diaclone?!! sign me up!!!.
Just saved over $100 on several purchases (each) I was about to make State-Side T_T

Rodimus Knight said he got HASSLE free shipping. That just means that there werent any problems with Japan shipping him the toy and it arrived in a good amount of time. The shipping wasnt free.
And I agree Rodimus Knight, it is scary. That's why I bought that Clear Green Unicron of Light. It was so much cheaper than everywhere else and the shipping was really minimal that it got the better of me and i made the purchase. Its a cool toy but not something I really nedded or would have bought if it wasnt so easy.

The only thing scary about Amazon.jp is how much it dings up my wallet. I've made a couple orders from them. Shipping costs are reasonable, very fast and way better than the sellers (aliexpress/tfdirect) I deal with from China (slow and usually beat up, but almost always free). I give Amazon.jp prices are good and it's just like using your local Amazon... once you find the language setting.william-james88 wrote:Rodimus Knight wrote:SpikeyTigertron wrote:Dear Lord.... I guess I misread the shipping comment, or misunderstood it. My bad.
I'm not sure where you're getting me saying it's scary though. Looks like you misread something too.
I've ordered before, and in truth they pack things better from Amazon.jp then they pack things here or even from Europe. Having ordered from Amazon from the UK and France, I can say they pack stuff worse then the US does.

Where would the doors go instead, though? The backpack? It's already pretty big, and adding some more mass in there would make Bumblebee look more like a hunchback than a hatchback.

So Starscream, you take your 33 1/3 chance, minus my 25% chance and you got an 8 1/3 chance of winning. But then you take my 75% chance of winning, if we was to go one on one, and then add 66 2/3 per cents, I got 141 2/3 chance of winning. Did Takara or Hasbro expect this new Bee to be well received? One would assume so, otherwise why release it?
Based on what I've read here, at TFW and social media, it's getting universally panned and people are having a hard time finding any real positives. With that being said, is Takara and Hasbro completely oblivious to what fans want? Or are they just really cocky? If they are actually that out of touch, what does that say for the MP line as a whole?
Bee's growing on me, but I'll wait for it to hit half price on Amazon JP.

The line is called "Masterpiece", as such the figures should look like something so well made it earns that moniker. This figure could be part of SIEGE and wouldn't look out of place. That's not a slight against SIEGE, just the lack of finesse with this "MP" BB.

I agree, it feels like they should have done better and could have. Hound was shown to us in JULY and here we are 7 months later and he's still just a gray prototype. I really feel he got pushed back, and maybe Bee was shoved in front of not just him, but Blackarachnia too. I think it was supposed to go Hound -> BA -> Bee, but they moved him to get released right after Prime

What's even weirder with Hound is that we HAVE seen painted samples already! We've had great at-show pics of him for months! And now they've gone back to showing him in gray, unpainted plastic. What the heckin' heck is going on?

The gray is actually primer, not plastic. They paint the figures gray to give them a uniform look instead of whatever random colors they molded them out of. We've even seen examples in the past of Takara Tomy painting Hasbro figures gray before they were ready to show off their own color schemes.

For example, I was looking at one of those "expensive" non-transforming statues the other day (probably around $200) and I thought to myself that normally for that price I'd expect it to transform. That's when I realized that my expectations have been shifted.

I always thought like this, which is mostly why I never buy non-transforming figures or statues (The Imaginarium Arts Arcee may be an exception )
In the end, it all boils down to a few things: your preference, your income, and your attachment to the character
