The first Decepticon to be encompassed into Human Alliance is Barricade. The bad cop does not come with a Human counterpart, instead a human-sized one. We're talking about Frenzy. Both Barricade and Frenzy are notoriously the first bad guys that we saw in action in the 2007 Live Movie. We've seen Takara's stock photos, and packaging at a convention. Now we are teased with the figure that will end up in our collections this winter.
Joining his brother in Human Alliance is Mudflap. We were teased at SDCC '09 and now we finally get images of the goods. Mudflap is remarkably more detailed than his Deluxe counterpart. His human partner is Agent Simmons, notably wearing a white scarf. The entire set is topped off with the second Arcee persona to be in Human Alliance - Chromia.
If you're interested in looking at what came before the Barricade and Mudflap sets, then you can find everything in Seibertron.com's toy galleries in the links below.
Bumblebee w/ Sam Witwicky
Sideswipe w/ Tech Sergeant Robert Epps
Skids w/ Mikaela and Arcee

Human Alliance Jolt with Elita-One/Flareup and Leo,
Human Alliance Jazz with one of Sam's parents, I suppose,
Human Alliance Ice Cream Twins with the other parent,
Human Alliance Sideways with Alice,
Human Alliance Scorponok with the two soldiers from the first movie,
Human Alliance Ravage with Reedman.
Come on, which one of those doesn't sound good?

I like HA Mudflap but I'm concerned about the durability of the upper arms as they look fairly thin. Chromia looks cool. I'm very much liking the look of Mudflap's lower leg configuration.

Nevertheless, gettin' both of them.

If they did something G1 in this size, detail, articulation, and with a human fig, I'd be good.

And his face somehow looks flat, but I think it may just be Frenzy's legs giving the impression that Barricade's head is on one of those square panel things his Legends/FAB/Cyber Slammer toys have.

Why would HA be a disappointment? Have you actually played with BB and Skids? Sure Sideswipe was lackluster but the rest are good.
AND WTF IS WITH THEM COLORING ARCEE BLUE AND CALLING HER CHROMIA AND COLORING CHROMIA RED AND CALLING HER ARCEE?!?!?!?!?!

And what's with all the mud brown coloring on his arms and legs? He was all black, white and chrome in the movie.
BTW, can anyone confirm if that left hand of his can convert back into a normal hand instead of just staying in "spiked wheel" mode? It looks possible from the picture, but I can't really tell.

Now that I'm looking at the photos more, I'm afraid HA Barricade's alt mode looks stumpy and cartoony compared to the Deluxe class figure as well as the better proportioned alt modes of HA BB and Sideswipe.
I don't have much hope for the chest as it does look like one big block but I'm hoping that the arms and legs are at least partially off due to bad photographing. Looking at how Barricade's feet look like they're pointing towards each other a bit, it doesn't seem like the figure is posed very well for the photo. I hope that when we get better photos of the figure that it looks better proportioned.

Barricade looks kinda weak in bot mode, like a Fast Action Battler. The chest is very plain, the colors are strange. He's just "off". Might have to pass.

Wouldn't mind seeing some G1 humans at this size: Spike, Carly, Ginrai, Lightfoot etc.

Barricade looks well terrible with that dark taupe color on his legs and arms should have used more black, and added some chrome or even silver would have been better.

Stumpy alt mode? How so? I personally find his alt mode quite proportionate, although slightly more on the bulky side, but if memory serves, the Saleen in the movie was a pretty "buff" car itself.

Why has Barricade's chrome been replaced with "turd" green ???
Why does Chromia mini figure look so nice when Arcee looked like crap ???

As for Mudflap, well, no surprise there - F**KING MONKEY ARMS.

i dont care if he has bad articulation. he is my favorite decepticon in the first movie! i love him! and frenzy is just cool!

This does sound good, but I'd rather see Human Alliance Red Rampage with both of Sam's parent, now that would be cool!! or hell a HA Soundwave with a smaller version of ravage and a satellite he can interface with...

Yep, sorry. For once I can't agree with you
The only one I really like so far is Sideswipe, actually.
The seat arms are really absurd. I don't know what else, but I just get behind them.

It's possible that they just mistransformed him and took the worst photo imaginable, but any hopes I had for this figure are long, long gone.
Posted by DMSL on December 4th, 2009 @ 11:25am CST
The proportions are way off, skinny legs, narrow chest, awkward paint aps and that Frenzy figure looks like the skeleton of a deceased wrestler.
Posted by Swiftknife24 on December 4th, 2009 @ 12:10pm CST
Like them both, but only one issue; is it me or do all Mudflap figures look ever so slightly Orange? I haven't got the Deluxe for that reason...But now that the HA looks brighter than it should, I may have to consider!
(Look again at Barricade's colors; Frenzy is the same color as the 'off' colors on Barricade, so it will probably look more gray in person...By the way, when it it coming out?)

As you can see he has hands and grey/brown color is also not shown, it appear to be a silver color from what I can tell, which should have stayed on the figure all the way until final assembly.
And yes, how comes Chromia looks good and Arcee looks like a turd KO?

Ah, thanks for bringing that pic up. His proportions look better in that one and it shows neck and upper arm articulation. Still doesn't appear to have knees though...

I'm comparing this:
Deluxe Barricade
to this:
HA Barricade
They're not the exact same angles but the HA version of the figure's alt mode looks very compact especially when you consider the relation of the size of Frenzy and the driver seat to the front section of the car. Maybe it's just distortion of perspective due to poor photography. That's what I'm hoping as I really want to like the HA Barricade figure!
