We have many new images for the new Transformers Studio Series reveals. Below you will see official images of deluxe ROTB Wheeljack, deluxe ROTB Scorponok, and leader Bumblebee Movie Concept Megatron. There are also images from a behind the scenes look at voyager Gamerverse WFC Starscream and leader Megatron. The Starscream one is puzzling as it shows Hasbro had a very clear idea of what the toy was supposed to look like and somehow deviated wildly in the chest area.

The commentaries on each is below all the images.

“SS-109 Bumblebee Movie Concept Megatron

I am ecstatic to finally be able to share our Leader Scale Concept Megatron. We officially came across this oddity while sifting through the CAD files from the Bumblebee movie, and discovered a wonderful unused design for Megatron. Originally the story was going utilize Megatron being frozen in ice, to help bridge the continuity gap to the Bayverse films, but the scene was eventually dropped, and this design disappeared. Luckily for us, we thawed it out and I was thrilled to be part of the team to help bring this figure to life.

We got to work on a vehicle design for Megatron. Like the majority of the BB Cybertronian alt modes, we wanted to utilize details that were present on the bot form, but still prioritize maintaining the look that they had on screen without sacrificing them for fantasy alt modes. This strategy has had some mixed success, but each new figure feels like a welcome addition to the line. Knowing that theatrical Megatron arrived on earth as a cybetronian jet, and later a tank in the first two Bayverse films, I was split between what alt form was most appropriate, but aiming for a tripleformer seemed most appropriate. I enlisted @santalux75 to conceptualize some vehicle looks for each of the modes, which we were able to take inspiration from for the final design.

I was able to partner with Yuya Onishi at Takara, who worked his magic to deliver a truly uncompromised robot mode from what ever direction you look at it. The articulation for this figure is unmatched by any other Transformer that I’ve had the opportunity to work on you can see the love that went into making this definitive version of Megatron.

Megatron’s fusion cannon can be folded and stowed on the figures back, and can be positioned in a couple of different orientations between the two vehicle modes. The figure is packed full of a heritage deco scheme that was pulled directly from the concept art.”

“Hi Transformer fans!

I hope you all have been enjoying the Studio Series 2024 wave 1 reveals over at MCM London with @bmacatron84!

Next up for our Gamer Edition line is the WFC Starscream.

The figure comes courtesy of the marvelous Tomo san over at Takara Tomy.

Starscream comes equipped with his Null Ray and Energon mace, which were his starting load out on his levels. We’ve heard you all loud and clear and are making sure that all the WFC weapons going forward will also have a standard 5mm post so they can be held traditionally as well as being swapped on the arm.

I happen to have the older DLX TT figure for comparison and wanted to make sure everyone could see how we worked from the Game CAD.

Obviously, we enlarged the jet canopy slightly as that’s where the robot head and nose cone get stored during conversion.

He’s a very fun figure to play around with and I hope you all enjoy him as well!

Last thing to note is that his collar pieces are consumer assembled, so they come in the accessory tissue pouch. Just bringing it up so hopefully there isn’t any confusion when you open the box!

Hope you all have a great weekend~
-Evan”

The alt mode concept designs for Megatron remind me of TFA S4 Marauder Megatron. Or Beast Machines Tankor and Jetstorm. Instead we're getting RotF Megatron and Legacy Bomb-Burst. Don't get me wrong, it still looks good. I just like the concept designs better.

I'll have to see Megs in hand or atleast different angles

That tank alt-mode is giving me some Metal Slug vibes and I love it

SS G Starscream will be perfect with a set of Reprolabels.

Bee Megs look magnificent in all modes. Can't believes he's just a voyager.

Scorpy is disgusting. I want two.

Finally, Pablo look like the Mainline original, but with paint.

I may be in for that Megatron.
I'm still not opposed to waiting to see if I can get Scourge on sale, but there's something about this Megatron that I like.
So he is Voyager class?? If so, that makes him even more tempting.

I would like that Scorponok, but the violet color is a bit too saturated...
That should have been toned down, or a lighter gray/metallic.

That Gamer Starscream is an easy, easy pass.

None of the previously released Gamer Editions have interested me as I have the previous versions.

Starscream is no different. In fact, I feel he's carrying on the tradition of making the previous versions look superior.

As for Rumble ... what the heck even is that alt mode? Is he supposed to be a brick to be picked up and thrown at the enemy? Or does he wait on the battlefield for someone to trip over him? Alt modes should have SOME practical function and I for the life of me cannot see what Rumble's is. (Not that a cassette was any more useful)

Megatron is a leader class
Jet mode is.... well its a thing and it's there
But I like the tank mode and robot mode a lot. Very tempted to get this

Scorponok is a maybe
Mohawk is also a maybe, I feel like as a toy it's not the best; it looks all spindly and like it'll get wobbly really fast. But what a fun character to have. Hard to pass that up

Rumble is an easy pass for me, I like the 86 ones better
This Starscream sucks but that's better for my wallet, I already have 86 starscream and legacy Armada
Wheeljacks face looks gross

Like Ravage previously, this mode only serves to be carried around by Soundwave.

So, it's more like a "curl up and hold for dear life" kind of thing while having zero altmodes.

Brawl is a project I put off for a long time because I wasn't sure how to handle it. We don't get a ton of clear shots of robot mode in the movie, so I had to pull together multiple sources to get this guy looking accurate! My main influence was APS-02 Brawl (the Takara repaint of 07 leader Brawl released around DOTM), and I used what I could tell from movie screenshots and video game models to fill in the blanks! In addition to being a complete repaint, I did some modding as well, adding the missing double barrel machine gun in alt mode and his forehead blast mark! This became one of my favorite projects I've worked on recently, for how long I put it off I'm super happy with how it turned out!

He's very underrated! A super fun figure.

Hasbro's sitting on a repaint for the tan Desert Brawl that shows up in DOTM, it'd be great for Buzzworthy!

While I appreciate that such a diverse array of characters have been getting figures in recent years, the toy designs seem to be getting clunkier and more unattractive lately. And I just do not see the claimed level of technical replication translating to the finished products. Which is a shame, considering the prices have drifted far outside the budget for many.

Yes this us very true for the Gamerverse figures, I don't know what's up with those.

Only interested for Leader Megatron & Mohawk.

The rest are pretty good overall except SSGE Starscream. There's just too little engineering improvement over the old DLX except size. Had high anticipation for the SSGE line but Hasbro killed it, only got OP & Meg, and both got major issues for me.

I said to myself I'm going all Yolopark AMK for ROTB. But I might get ROTB WJ on sale as an exception, 'cause I love that Pablo VW mode.

JTPrime recently uncovered multiple “bundles” for figures in Studio Series and Legacy! Here’s the Studio Series ones:

TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX TF6 BUNDLE 1
Product Number: D3411
TRA GEN STUDIO DLX 86 AND TF6 BUNDLE 1
Product Number: D3412
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX 86 BUNDLE
Product Number: D3413
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX TF2 BUNDLE
Product Number: D3414
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX TF6 BUNDLE 2
Product Number: D3415
TRA GEN STUDIO DLX 86 AND TF6 BUNDLE 2
Product Number: D3416
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX TF5 BUNDLE
Product Number: D3417

These items are apparently meant for Walmart, and we have info on one of the packs (the TF2 one)

Image

So it looks like Deluxe 2-packs! If I had to guess, the TLK one is likely the WWII Autobots

So, thoughts on the reveals:

Mohawk looks great! At long last, we finally get another member of the Crew! Megatron, Barricade, Berserker, and Nitro Zeus will appreciate this tiny terror. I love the paint work on him too, he was a great model, glad to see it translated well. Now we just need Dreadbot (see another comment below) and Onslaught!

Rumble: wow, they really did make this one up didn't they? I will get him, but, yeesh.

Scorponok: He looks great! Love what they did with him. I will probably get 2 or 3. They will go great with my army of Freezers and Novakanes.

Wheeljack: he looks good! Funny thing is, I think the mainline toy actually did his design better, and didn't use a fake chest. But, based on the way the wings work and the chest being fake, I think they have a Dreadbot retool in mind. and I would be OK with that!

Junkion: I like the mold, but considering #2 is still shelfwarming, I'm not in a hurry for #3.

Megatron: we really got a concept art leader Megatron before a 2nd Dinobot. at least Megs is interesting, though I am not the biggest fan of the alt mode executions. Reminds me too much of Soundwave and his alt mode. Soundwave is legitimately the worst live action design and is down there with car Shatter, VW Bee, BB Cliffjumper, Topspin, WFC Megatron, and 86 Snarl as the worst SS toys. I get the idea behind Megs alt modes, and the inspiration from Animated Marauder Megatron is awesome, but the execution leaves much to be desired. I will still get him though.

EDIT: forgot about Starscream. He is OK, the only 2 issues I have are his feet feel too small, and his cockpit is too big. They really should've found a way to make that cockpit smaller, and at least give him longer toes.

This is nice, I've never owned Sideways, but I used to have the ROTF Arcee trio a long time ago and it would be nice to have them again, so I may buy at least the TF2 bundle. I'm guessing the "86 and TF6" bundles are the two Arcees and the two Brawns.

The previous Target 2 packs were either versus packs with a bot and a con, or 2 versions of Bee. My guess on the general format is that the 2 packs from the same movie will be a versus type, which the TF2 bundle matches up. For the combo SS86 and TF6 packs, I'm guessng on 2 versions of the same character.

If my guess is right, this could be a way to get the netflix Bee mold out again in a pack with B-127, movie VW or jeep bee. The other SS86/TF6 pack would probbaly be either Cliffjumper, Brawn or Arcee as the only ones I camn think of with deluxe figures from TF6 and SS86. I suppose a redecoed ER Wheeljack could be released under the SS86 name and fit as well.

I'm very curious to see what this might end up being.

Edit: On second thought I think versus type packs might be a bit too tough mainly because of the lack of deluxe cons to choose from, which makes me realize this might be a very autobot heavy assortment, even more than normal.

Predictions for who's coming with who in these sets:

-TF6 Bundle 1: Shatter & Dropkick
-86 & TF6 Bundle 1: Arcee Evolution
-86 Bundle 1: Kup & Blurr
-TF6 Bundle 2: Two Random Autobots from Cybertron
-86 & TF6 Bundle 2: Bumblebee Evolution
-TF5 Bundle: either WWII Bee & Hot Rod or some character who'd probably get a repackaged toy like Barricade a la High Octane Bee.

Hound in the proper Earth Jeep mode and Suntreaker with no clear plastic for better yellow paint/plastic matching.

Hope that we can get a proper Bumblebee turns into a VW Bug. We've waiting long enough.

Agreed on all points.

Next question; these seem like they’d be exclusives.
But exclusives for which company, & when will these be released?

If the Black Friday rumor is true, then these would have to be repacks of some sort. I can't see any actual new figures make it this close to on shelves without being leaked.

This has me wondering, remember back in the Power Core Combiner days, Walmart literally shrink wrapped a larger set of the Scout Class bot and 4 drone limbs to a smaller Scout Class bot with armor/weapon mini-con? Those had their own bottom and unique barcode covering up the bar codes for the 2 individual packages.

I wonder if this will be something similar with 2 deluxe packages pretty much taped together with their own package back/bottom and unique barcode. Oddly enough, aside from TF2 Arcee who shelf warmed pretty bad in her day, all the other spots could be easily filled by bots that came out on 2022. It was weird checking the wiki, other than TF3 Bee, every other 2022 release could be in one of those bundles. SS86 Perceptor and Arcee probably aren't enough to fill out all the SS86 spots so likely some Kups and Blurrs will be mixed in, but I can see these being heavily slanted to 2022 when distribution was screwed up and previous shelf warmers if they are hitting stores for Black Friday.

Another thing, these codes are not using this year's code letters, but the ones from previous years, like when Sideways and Arcee were readily available to order.

So this could be black friday two packs from last year which did not happen where Hasbro would have provided Walmart with a bunch of extra stock, like SS86 Arcee and Sideways, taped together with a new UPC sticker and sold at less than the retail of two toys.

This might be why not all TF fan sites have posted this news, as it might simply be old news that never came to be.

There's been a lot of talk regarding the newly revealed Transformers Studio Series Gamerverse WFC Starscream, most of it negative. But it's all early talk based on the few images we have seen. So, to give you all a better look, we are sharing this video review from DarthRavage07. He split it into a review video and a transformation video.

The big takeaway from fans so far has been the rubber-like cockpit. While some dislike the idea, others point out that it means it won't break like it would were it clear plastic. You'll let us know how you feel about the toy.

Transformers Studio Series 102 Optimus Prime is selling for double on e-bay due to Target not stocking him enough on shelves and online. This gave the Takara release more attention than they usually get since Takara's release is non exclusive. However it seems fans were not aware that the toy's preorders have gone up. Not only have they gone up, but they are also selling out very quickly. HLJ is a popular seller, has been for decades, and Prime is sold out there. Amazon Japan has preorders available to various fans around the world but not for Americans.

This is pretty big news on its own, since it seems Amazon Japan is reverting to its stance from years ago about disabling some foreign customers from ordering toys off their site. Right now it seems people in Europe and Australia can order SS 122 Optimus Prime (that's the code number for their release of ROTB Prime) but Americans see it as "not available" and the same can be said for MP Rhinox.

Back to Optimus Prime, if you do want to order it, the Japanese retailer Amiami still accepts preorders, and the toy is only $28 USD before shipping. Here is the link: https://www.amiami.com/eng/detail/?scod ... 0510&rank=

That link above is one of your last chances to get this toy at a reasonable price, and once it sells out all that will be left is him on e-bay for $80-$100

At this rate, getting the Black Mamba KO with the silver thighs might be easier.

Also that rubber cockpit isn't going to make things any better. Outside of it sounding wrong to say I doubt it'd be any more durable than clear plastic tends to be.

Yeah, the original figure had a clear plastic cockpit canopy and it wasn't fragile at all.

It's not that the cockpit is made of rubber, it's that it's simply too large, making it look bulbous.

Yeah I already preordered one of those knockoff Optimus Primes with the upgrade kit already installed after Target cancelled my preorder. Can't wait to see them at Ross next year though. We beg and beg and beg Hasbro, Target and Walmart for certain figures only for them to hit a discount chain. Collecting is not fun anymore.

And great, the cockpit won't break...like all the other cockpits as it's been a long time since I seen one with translucent plastic actually break. But now it's likely to disintegrate instead. Or melt. Or crack due to getting dry. Snag on something and rip. There's actually more stuff that can happen to that cockpit now instead.

Looks like pre-orders went live for the newest wave of SS reveals.

Thanks for pointing out Prime being on AmiAmi, I get a shipment from them monthly so adding him to my March order will help reduce/split the shipping costs. Last I had checked the orders had sold out so I never considered checking back, I just thought I might actually see him in store, but it looks like my local store has been skipping stuff.

The original cockpit didn't open, this one does to store the head inside which makes it a possible breaking point. But softer plastic doesn't necessarily solve that problem, just look at Titans Return Weirdwolf. And since when did Hasbro care about clear plastic breaking with all the clear tabs they've been using in recent years. It's unfortunate that they didn't just sculpt the canopy to make the cockpit appear smaller and add paint to finish the illusion. In the old days the canopy would have been on a separate larger door and it would be two parts.

I had wanted a copy of this figure, but as scarce as Target has made them? He's not been worth the trouble to track him down. It seems a nice figure, but I have no intention of paying the scalper's ransom they're asking for on Ebay. Same with Buzzworthy Origin Jazz. Target seems to be having a general problem with all their 'exclusives' lately.

And now I hear that Studio Series 86 Hound is slated to be in the Target Buzzworthy line as well. That scares me, because it means he will also be impossible to find. Walmart has rightly been skewered over the lousy way they handled Velocitron Cosmos and other exclusive figures. But Target is equally guilty. And given how Hasbro is supposed to be working and coordinating with these retailers to make sure they have enough product for everyone who wants to buy? It's hard to know exactly who to blame. It's like that scene in Grapes of Wrath. "Well - who do we shoot?"

To put it simply, it's something I've said before, something is going on between toy makers and retailers and we'll never know what if we don't ask, ask often, and ask loudly.

I never ordered from Ami Ami, does anyone know what the shipping costs to the US would be? All I found was that the shipping was "Based on wieght"

Importing anything from Japan is VERY expensive.
Expect at the bare minimum 4K to 5K JPY in shipping alone from a standard deluxe to a standard leader.

Since his leak over a year ago, Hound was ALWAYS Buzzworthy.

Plus it's a laugh anyway. If Hasbro made that cockpit out of soft plastic because they were 'concerned that clear plastic might break'? What does that say about how they're using almost nothing BUT clear plastic on so many other figures? (We're looking at YOU, SS 86 Ironhide, Ratchet, B-127, WFC Prowl, and a host of others). Hasbro sure as heck doesn't seem concerned about THOSE breaking....

So far, I've been transforming SS86 Ratchet and Ironhide back and forth over and over and I really don't see how anything can break. The only way would be to force things the wrong way on purpose, or to throw the toy at a brick wall with full force.

If you're ginger with them, you can avoid fractures. It remains to be seen how well these will hold up over time once the plastic gets older and more brittle, as it invariably does. In any case, if clear plastic is durable (as long as you make it a little thicker), why didn't they use it for the Gamerverse Starscream?

The minds of the designers are unfathomable.
