We got some new listings for what Takara will release in November 2018. Most are their continued release of the Power of the Primes figures Hasbro is also releasing and include Megatronus, Outback, Cindersaur and Rodimus Unicronus. Those listings can all be discussed in the Power of the Primes thread.
The final listing though shows us what is next for the Transformers Encore line. We have our second non G1 Encore figure and it's another Convoy; Returns Convoy. Now Beast Wars Returns is the name of Beast Machines in Japan and Optimus Primal was also referred to as Convoy in that series so this would be a rerelease of Air Attack Optimus Primal. This is the giant Beast Machines Primal figure that was actually released under the Robots in Disuise line in the US. Takara never made their own release with their own sound effects, instead the very same toy the west got was released in Japan as a Toysrus exclusive USA edition, unchanged.
This would be the first time Takara releases this toy as their own product with their own packaging and all and probably with their own sound effects too. The price is quite high though with a retail amount of 20,000 yen which is about $185 USD today.

Any second chance to get this toy in show-accurate colors, and without any GPS issues, is great in my book.

WHO will buy that Air Attack at that price, though? Because the original is aplenty available for a reasonable price and that "G1 Optimus colors" Platinum is still shelfwarming at clearance prices. Who outside of Japan would bother, especially for 200$US +?

I'm buying this figure if it has a show accurate color scheme and ditches the gold plastic, my original one is breaking in the GPS spots and I would like one that doesn't have this issue. Price doesn't matter as I don't need to pay for bills (perks of being a Teenager and having a decent job.)

In that case, it would be a "special edition" like the Platinum. However, it clearly state a REISSUE here. Meaning the exact same thing. Maybe at least with the (possible) GPS fixed. But that's it. Expect the same colors.

God Fire Convoy was also a Encore reissue, but was entirely repainted to be show accurate so it isn't unheard of. Heck, that wasn't even the first, Encore 20A was Devastator in anime (hence the "A") colors and a new Devy head and Encore 10 featured a Bumblebee with a new cartoon head. Like GFC this is probably another case of them trying to give us the closest thing they can to an MP without actually having to make one.
But I'm not too crazy about this news, It just isn't a $200 figure for me. I'd rather have Blast Punch Primal in cartoon colors instead since he's more in scale with most of the BM figures and the sculpt is more cartoon accurate. Shame about the elbows.

I wished I got it back in the day when I saw it at toys r us for 60 but now that I think about it the GPS issue makes me almost glad I didn't but I still wish I had it

You can find the Optimus colored Platinum Edition on clearance about everywhere. That way, you enjoy the mold without having to pay too much for something that may break.
I do have it and I like it better than the original for reasons.

Get the not rare at all original. The GPS issues are pretty light and fixable.
That black one is (I guess) a pure KO. But it can brag to be at least of an original color. So one can take his chances to test it's quality.

Amazon Japan currently has the preorder for Takara's latest Encore release, Beast Wars Returns Convoy or as you probably know him, Beast Machines Optimus Primal. The official images in the listing show us the Air Attack Optimus Primal mode in a more show accurate deco (we have images of the original for comparison below). The listing does state that "Koyasu Takehito", Primal's Japanese voice actor at the time, provided newly recorded phrases that will be included with the toy and that, like the original there will be different sounds in robot mode and gorilla mode.
Amazon Japan has him discounted from ￥ 21,600 to ￥ 14,640.

I will be getting this, but I'm kinda pissed about it.
I LOVE Beast Machines. And this figure looks as good as it's ever going to get. But DAMN that price, and the fact that this is NOT the mold I'd have chosen to get the premo treatment.

Interesting thought. I hadn't pictured the other sizes in a decent coloration. That first rando blue one never felt right.... but I wonder what it (or the others) would look like with a decent paint job.

Ok. Wow, just found a nicely painted custom of the medium sized one. That thing looks GREAT with a decent paint job. Original is in some WILD almost all yellow scheme. I'd somehow pushed that out of my mind.

The big deal breaker for me is that the I could not care less about the revamped electronics since it will strip away the Gary Chalk voice (hence why I never cared for the YOTM one either).

Dohoho! I can relate...
Still, if one DO have the cash to burn, that "reissue" is very well worth it. With that VERY NICE deco and the new sound, I consider this as a premium "Botcon" or "Collector Club" exclusive repaint. So of course it have the price tag to match.
Also, Shajaki, you tsundere...

Still, if one DO have the cash to burn, that "reissue" is very well worth it. With that VERY NICE deco and the new sound, I consider this as a premium "Botcon" or "Collector Club" exclusive repaint. So of course it have the price tag to match.

you'll probably be waiting a long, LONG time then. no 3p company has made an actual animal-like figure, ony a few robot-y looking ones from beast wars. heck, if animated hasn't gotten more than, like, 2 3rd party toys being a fan-favorite, then there's not really a chance for beast machines to get any love either.

After the initial post for the revived Transformers Encore line from Takara Tomy, we have a couple of updates courtesy of the official Takara Tomy product website for the toy here, and Dengeki Hobby website's coverage of the Tokyo Toy Show 2018, here.
Along with the original images we covered with the reveal, Takara Tomy has also put up the promotional banner for the big bossbot of the Maximals, in his Beast Machines form, and three of the voice clips he will come with in final product - which you can listen to here - starting, in Japanese: '(To) all good children, it's Convoy!', 'Good! If you want to survive...' and 'Okay! Today is rap!...' - or something to that effect. If you're good at transcribing Japanese audio, do let us know!

The first voice clip is a sort of introductory clip.
The second says something about the Oracle.
And the third... sounds a lot like all the "Yvonco" chanting that Rattrap and others did during the opening sequence of episode 14 (season 2, episode 1) in its Japanese dub.

It looks great, but sadly I can't afford it as usual. I also much prefer Hasbro's Platinum version. I don't know why, but that Primal in Prime colors looks perfect to me

If this were a cartoon accurate mold I'd be all over this, but it isn't so I can't really justify buying this figure again just for more paint details.

I get that he is speaking in Japanese and the original did not. The redeco is nice, but it is so slight that you wouldn't notice unless you compare it to the old version. Not worth the cash.
Now if they took Blast Punch Optimus Primal and gave him an accurate color scheme, lots of people would be happy. Especially since he would be more in scale with the other BM toys. They could charge $50 and plenty of people across the world would buy that. They could probably even charge $70 and still get money from a good amount of people.

The deco is VERY different from the original. It's a major improvement. But I agree that the problem is the mold itself. Way too huge and don't scale with anything.
