-EDIT-
I forgot that spring in the USA is March-May #-o
I feel extra stupid.

That's just ridiculous.

I can't go to this one either now.

Now, let's see what spirit-crushing exclusives they've got in store for a very small percentage of the fandom.

Seattle's your best chance. I doubt they'd ever do a foreign hosted BotCon. (I know there was a BotCon Europe, but I believe it was handled by different people, seeing as it had it's own exclusives and ran at a completely different time frame than the US version.)

The US hosted BotCon has always been within our borders (lower 48 to be exact) and I'm pretty sure they'll keep it that way too.

Heck, I doubt there will ever be one in Alaska or Hawaii (too far away from the mainland, and too expensive.)

But, this is all a moot point in speculating until they give us the final date and location.

osubot20 wrote:I would be like to see it in Ohio

This wouldn't be a bad idea. Cleveland and Columbus are large enough to accommodate such a convention, plus it's local to a lot of the posters here (many complain it's never close enough, and they're right.) Frisco Texas was one of the locations, wasn't it? I mean...come on!

I Probably won't be able to go, but being closer to tax refund time would mean it'd be mroe likely that I could afford to get the exclusive set this year.

Is it just me, or do the BotCon conventions keep getting earlier and earlier? :-?

This should be done like the Olynpics. In a different country every year.

Posted by Tekka on September 28th, 2007 @ 5:02am CDT
Maybe I will go. It would be my first botcon ever. :-? And if I don't like the exclusives I could always sell them on ebay for megabucks. :ic$: Or... donate them to random stranger who couldn't afford them.

I predict Detroit due to auto production, we've been really good at hosting some big events lately, some of the scenes from the movie were filmed here, and WE ARE THE SETTING FOR THE NEW CARTOON!

Just guessing though.

East--Rhode Island
South-- Kentucky
Mid-Central-- Texas
West Coast-- California
Mid west-- Chicago

They've hit many major population centers. I'm thinking Phoenix, Indy, Detroit, or Orlando.

I would imagine they would save their next West Coast swing for the release of TF THE MOVIE 2, Hollywood...

Still, Spring of 08? They've been pushing this thing forward considerably lately.

I been saying this, I wish BotCon was a traveling convention. Almost like a traveling fair, or ice show.

This past year it was in RI, I bet alot of people in Oregon missed out.

Every area would have it's own vendors, but how much would it hurt to ship around the features. I know there are other conventions, but this is the good one as far as setups, exclusives, and all that.

Since I'm in Buffalo, that would be perfect. We drove to RI for this year's convention, and we really enjoyed it. I definitely would like an oppurtunity to go again.

BTW, isn't there a TF convention in Toronto every year?

It would be the highest attended Botcon ever....if they held it...in HONOLULU! Come on people. We know we'd die if they held it there...it's a perfect spot in the Spring. SHOW ME DA BIKINIS!

oh and yea there is a convention in Toronto every year, Transformerscon, but its not nearly as big or even close to being as good and official like Botcon. If it were in NY or Michigan, I would definitely make the trip down there...heres hoping that its after my exams too

Suspect they are moving to allow them to have the conventions for Transformers and G.I.Joe six months apart, which would probably make FP's lives easier. Of course this schedule gets blown out the window with special events around movies but I digress.

It will be interesting to see the implications of this move on the organization of Transformerscon, which is typically held the last week of April around southern Ontario (Toronto, Hamilton). Will TCon be pushed back in recognition of the competition?

Yes there is. TransformersCon. It took place only a few months ago and this coming weekend is the Canadian Toy Expo which is run by the same good folks to run TransformersCon. [shameless plug]I'll have a booth there this weekend [/shameless plug]

I just wish that Hasbro would support a fan club or convention for those of us that don't have the ridiculous amounts of money to spend on exclusive figures and trips across the country. I'm sure that I'm not the only die hard fan that can't live off of raman noodles and pb & j sandwhiches in order to pay for my hobby. My parents and I have probably spent thousands of dollars on transformers merchandise over the course of my entire life. i don't mind spending extra money on exclusive figures, but I have college to pay for on top of other payments to keep up with. Is the title of "hardcore fan" reserved for those with overabundant money to spend?

NYC? Bleagh, I wouldn't be able to afford that. And Toronto gets its own con every year, it doesn't need another one. :P

Niagara Falls would be great, we need the tourism... >.>

That, and they just finished this really spiffy new convention center right across from the Seneca Niagara Casino. Which isn't too far away from the border, so there'd be no shortage of things to do.

And on another note, I never knew there were so many Western New Yorkers that frequented these boards. Hoo-rah.
