Greetings Seibertronians!
Are you on the fence regarding the newest Core Class figure, Hot Rod? Do you need a second opinion?
Well fellow Seibertron user, and toy reviewer, Chuckdawg1999 has you covered!
Check out his review below to see what he thinks of this toy!
chuckdawg1999 wrote:As the last Core Class figure from Kingdom, Hot Rod ends not only the Class on a high note but the whole of the Kingdom line. Transformation is involved but intuitive, much like Core Class Starscream. I should mention that like most Core sized car Transformers, the ease of Hot Rod's transformation will factor on how tight the ball joints are, as that can make things easier or harder. Overall, Hot Rod is a fine figure and a great addition to your Core Class collection.
What do you think of this version of Hot Rod?

Profit margins. As the cost of manufacturing goes up (raw materials, labour etc) companies can either absorb the costs (thus taking a hit to profit) or roll with it and cut back on costs (using less materials etc) and/or raising prices.

He's smaller than previous generations legends class figures?

Only seeing him win Target's website but not Amazon.

I have a link to the Listing, but no pre-orders and a 3rd party seller is the only one currently selling at a ridiculous markup for a figure that is about to hit retail.

You should at least be able to put it in your watch list and wait for Amazon to get some in stock.

I made a big old mess with Shockwave and the Fossilizers. Let's call him Onyx Prime (looks nothing like him in the comics I know)

From everything we've seen, he's still the same "Pocket-size but too big to be used with the older pocket-size versions of characters" that the Legends class became circa 2013 and continues to be when used for pocket-size versions of characters instead of as a replacement for the old Basic/Scout class.

You know, I'm actually very curious how the parts count differs between CW Legends Hot Rod and Kingdom Core Hot Rod because I feel like the Kingdom figure is much more complex. And for basically the same price since most major retailers haven't taken these past the $10 mark yet.

What probably helps is that Legacy Hot Rod uses two molds instead of CW's three:
CW
Mold 1: Wheels, shoulder hinges
Mold 2: Car shell (incl. lower legs), main hinge
Mold 3: Back, upper legs, head, weapon
Legacy
Mold 1: Wheels
Mold 2: everything else (all the orange looks to be paint)
Not counting the weapon for Legacy here, on the suspicion it's separate from the main tooling.

Rattrap was more fiddly than I expected and the rear legs feel loose when putting into beast mode. Bot mode he his nice if a bit too small for my liking but will have to do until I find the t30 version. Think I'm skipping packrat now though so it saves on that at least.

Solid idea but eh I just don't really want to have 3 of that same mold. That, along with keeping my collection more condensed and selective, and trying to save money and just get the figures I really really want.
Pipes probably has my favorite color scheme, but the other 2 have decent colors and cool enough head sculpts. That and their obscurity makes them more interesting

Because after that initial limited availability, he wasn't in stock and there was still demand? Multiple people have already said, "thanks for the heads up, that's how I got him," that's why it's news.
Posted by YoungPrime on January 26th, 2022 @ 9:11am CST
I'm glad that I was content with the SIEGE version of Red Alert being that it took this long for this exclusive to finally show up on their own website. I get that it's likely due to COVID and Shipping issues but I shutter to think about how much madness collectors will be going through if the leaks about Minerva being a Walgreen's exclusive are true.
The only thing keeping me from not being as worried is because of so many other figures who rank higher on my to get list (Blitzwing, Sludge, Black Convoy, Crankcase, A3, Omega Guardian, etc.) this year.

The article probably could have been worded slightly differently. Instead of implying it was the first time available on the website, they could have said "it is once again available', or something like that.
Still, it is appreciated because it is a high demand item that has been mostly unavailable except for a brief few hours one day in Pulse, then again a couple months ago on Walgreens.com, only for a few hours before selling out. Why it didn't make it to stores is a mystery, but hopefully everyone who wants a Kingdom Red Alert can now get one.

Awesome . I just wanted to make sure that I didn't cut down the value of your original news in general. a LOT of people are appreciative of being informed as K Red Alert was super limited on Pulse and WG previously.
It's hard to find a balance, because occasionally I'll see items that come back in stock on Pulse or other places, and just make a post to a thread, because sometimes they were hard to find items, but I'm not the one to judge whether it was newsworthy or not. I'm not the judge here either, but as just a shlub, I think it was defintely helpful to the community overall in this case.

I know the police in Dubai have Bugatti's and other high end vehicles (as well as normal police cars), so it wouldn't surprise me to find one there.

Despite thinking the figure isn't good and that was before finding his chest is a bit off color in beast mode I opted for a replacement.

But if you see any kind of vehicle, even one very much out of place, would you say it can turn into a robot?

Have some pictures.
Also, I would have liked to compared him with the regular voyager Tigatron, but I never ever saw the damn thing in store so have the "vintage" one instead.
This is really an upscaled and slightly improved Cheetor. But eh, if it ain't broke...

This could be what became of a Tigatron who really did quit the Beast Wars in "Law of the Jungle" and never rejoined the Maximals. The death of Snowstalker and the lack of receiving sympathy and convincing from Optimus hardened him to the point that he became something of a wandering protector of nature, an isolated creature who would strike down any who would do harm to the planet, his home, with little mercy. He'd show the Maximals some, but Predacons would be dealt without hesitation. The Mutant Head would represent a mask he'd wear to hide his face and inner shame behind his colder exterior that, ironically, is now colored to better match the wrath of Nature's Fury.

A Lambo is just barely possible as a fire chief's fast-response car. I don't find it quiiite as much of a stretch as a Lambo being a patrol car (especially a Lambo with a supercharger - looking at you, Cordon). And making Red Alert a Fire Chief car did further distinguish him from Prowl, the police car the line already had (and the most realistic option amongst the Diaclone police-deco toys, because Japanese PDs actually did use Datsun Fairladies as patrol cars).Autobot N wrote:For "robots in disguise," the Autobots sure do have a lot of conspicuous alt modesDeathReviews wrote:I don't believe I have ever seen the chief of any fire department, tooling around in a custom painted Lamborghini.
Mirage, Wheeljack, and Smokescreen are easily the worst though (especially Mirage).
Got Cyclonus in this week (he was a birthday gift), and am quite happy to have him.
I very much appreciate how much better this view is compared to his 2008 counterpart.
Ooh, very interesting headcanon.Sabrblade wrote:Seeing how the Mutant Head looks more like a mask than a proper head unto itself, I just had an idea for how to headcanon this figure outside of its online bio backstory:

Somewhat related, I personally like to headcanon Optimus Primal and BW Megs' "mutant head" masks as war masks rather than actual mutant noggins.

Similarly, T-Wrecks's mutant head was treated as a battle mask on his original toy's appearance in The Wreckers issue #2.ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:Somewhat related, I personally like to headcanon Optimus Primal and BW Megs' "mutant head" masks as war masks rather than actual mutant noggins.

Well, Takara did also use a Lambo as a police car in the Car Robots line back in 2000.chuckdawg1999 wrote:For what it's worth, I read years ago that back in the 80s Japanese Fire and Police commanders used sports cars for fast response times. Not sure if that still happens now.

The only thing I can think of is that my package missed a scan somewhere and never showed up as delivered in Amazon's system and after some period of time, they automatically issued a refund. It is sitting in the basement, so it definitely made it here.
Makes me wonder how many other orders I might have gotten free after the fact.
