Greetings Seibertronians! Fellow Seibertron user, -WonkoTheSane-, has let us know that Seibertron user and YouTube toy reviewer, PrimeVsPrime, has uploaded a new video review of the forthcoming Amazon exclusive Transformers Earthrise Autobot Alliance two pack! In this set is Earth Mode Ironhide (a retool of Siege Ironhide) and Earth Mode Prowl (a retool of Earthrise Smokescreen). Now while we've previously had a review of Ironhide, this gives us a proper look at Prowl, giving him a chance to shine.
We've embedded the review below for your convenience.
What do you think of these two? Are you replacing your Siege versions or having them stand side by side? Let ys know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

I'm kinda cold on that Prowl is the problem. I'm not really into the head design as much as the Siege one. Also: this might sound weird, but his vehicle mode is kinda boring. Much like the Siege Prowl. To be honest, I don't even think it's that there's anything wrong with the Earth Rise Prowl, if I had missed Siege Prowl and gotten Earthrise instead, damn skippy I'd like it as much as I like the Siege one. They're equal to each other to me I guess.
Do I need it? No. Am I going to get it? Yes, but only so I can have that Ironhide. Damn these two-packs.

I think Siege Prowl's car mode is pretty cool, and in some ways better than the ER car. But I definitely like the ER both mode better.
I didn't buy much of anything from the Siege line, but it would've been nice if there would've been some sort of heads-up as to which characters would be released in both lines.
Personally I'd be pretty unhappy if I had bought Siege versions but liked the ER ones better.

I'm looking forward to this as well...
And don't give up hope on Soundwave yet, but there's a chance you may have to check out a couple stores to find him. I mean, keep an online eye out, but I won't be surprised if I end up getting him at the nearby Walmart. If I see the Netflix Bumblebee, I'll probably get him too.

*Looks at seeker trio, Datsuns, Prime, Ironhide, Ratchet, 2 Megatrons, Soundwave, 2 Ultra Magnuses*
... Eh.
Some of these bother me more than others. I definitely feel like they did too many redecoes of the leaders, and I never would have gotten Bluestreak, Smokescreen, and Ironhide if I'd known slightly modified earth modes were coming. But Prowl and Ratchet have different visual designs that match their IDW2 comics and Siege versions, and even if they're not perfect, I like having a bunch of Tetrajets opposite the female Autobots. While I'll probably unload a few of the duplicates, most will have a permanent place in my collection as characters from other media while my ER lineup will be the definitive classic G1 collection.
I really want an earth mode Magnus, and though it might be in SS instead of ER, I'm guessing it'll happen. I don't regret the Netflix variant, but I never should have gotten the regular Siege one.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much yet, I'm sure the Soundwave set will make it's way to stores in the next couple months, just like Megs and Hotlink.
As for the two-pack, I don't really care about Ironhide. I have the Siege version and I really like him, and this version doesn't have a great alt mode. Prowl isn't perfect either, his doors could use "highway patrol" on them, his pelvis could use a little paint detailing to break up all the solid black, and he has Bluestreak's headsculpt. But the more I look at Prowl, the more I like him. His deco is otherwise very nice, I especially like the black detailing around the windows in alt mode. I don't have a Prowl in my collection, so I might get this set just for the Prowl (before the secondary market prices skyrocket, as Amazon exclusives tend to do).

Why give him Smokescreen's head, when Prowl has his head? I call bs.
I still think if / were smartER they would use CW Club Subcription Bluestreak's colors for this mold. I would so throw my money for that...'nuff said!

Dude, that's a good call. I don't think these ER figures are the best there will ever be, but taking in consideration both the past and what's been recently available, they're really pretty good, at least in terms of appearance.
I have one opened figure from the Siege line, so I can't really speak to transformation enjoyment, overall QC, etc., because I have very little personal frame of reference.
So maybe there are issues that will make it easy for some to pass on a lot of these ER figures.
But if you don't have a Prowl in your collection, I'd go for the 2 pack. Even though you like your Siege Ironhide, the ER version's bot mode is pretty on point. Not sure how you display your collection, but maybe have the Siege IH in alt mode since it's relatively unique, and have the ER IH in bot mode.
These are already overpriced imo. All of them. Yeah Ironhide's a large deluxe, so I'll call that a win.
But when all the other deluxes are $20+, assuming you already have your favorite character(s) it will sting quite a bit to have to buy any later on when getting them for original release price is either a hassle or just not likely. Wait for a sale and who knows if you'll get what you want.
I buy what I really like, but I can't imagine paying anywhere close to $30+ for one of these deluxes.
The average price for Siege Skywarp on the 'bay is $70 (& in most cases that's not including the shipping cost you're covering).
When Amazon runs dry, I'm betting the price for Prowl & Ironhide is $65-$80.
I'd bite now.
Oh, and don't forget you'll have until November to cancel if you change your mind.

I asked a guy that had an assistant manager tag on if someone could help me get the figure and showed him the webpage that showed in stock. The guy looked at me like he didn't want to be bothered and said, "see all these pallets? We're just unloading the truck. I don't know if it'll be here today or tomorrow, but if you check back tomorrow you'll probably find it, so thats why it says that."
If I really wanted to be a jerk, I would have asked for the store manager and demanded not to leave without the toy. But I took the high road and I'll check back tomorrow.
The service at these retailers is getting worse and worse though. Don't have it in your website that the figure can be picked up today and then have some wise guy tell you to come back tomorrow.
Posted by o.supreme on August 8th, 2020 @ 7:28pm CDT
They may be coming sooner than later, bit I'll be shocked if the first sighting is tomorrow. I thought for sure it would be last weekend being the beginning of the month, but was proved wrong. I had a lady tell me at one store thenext shipment of deluxe's was coming 8/12, another store said 8/14, but I think it could just be more siege Netflix....do all deluxe's have the same item number now? I can't remember....

It's actually Bluestreaks cartoon head design, not Prowl's: the "ear muffs" are missing. Payback for Siege Bluestreak reusing Prowl's head?

Looks awesome, nicely done!
I have some designs in mind for a big Decepticon city/spaceport built around Trypticon/Overlord/Sky Shadow which incorporates these Earhrise guys once I get them. I'd also like to build a "pen" for the beast mode 'cons that factors into it somehow, but I'm still working on it in my head.
Yes, I'm absolutely loving Sky Lynx too. It has a lot of detail, so many modes and endless possibilities

All that head talk remind me of a light custom I'm about to make. Turning Combiner Wars Prowl into CW Red Allert by painting his helmet black and using a Repro sheet of G1 Red Alert.

IKR? A line where the main purpose is remolds and repaints, no Red Alert. Especially when Sunstreaker and Sideswipe are there.

I will say that most of the CW Autobots that I can remember weren't that great at all.
I've recently seen photos of CW Smokescreen and Hound, and they're nothing impressive.
But speaking of Sideswipe, now I'm kind of wishing Hastak was releasing an ER version.
I haven't been a fan of the battle-damaged paint apps, but he's one of my favorite Autobots.
Here's who I'm looking to get as of now:
Netflix Soundwave
Conehead 2-pack
Smokescreen
Prowl & Ironhide
Netflix Bumblebee
Maybe's:
Wheeljack
Bluestreak
Grapple
Sunstreaker (especially if we're not getting an ER Sideswipe)
Ratchet (if he's ever released)
Cliffjumper: I'm still on the fence even though I bought him (not opened yet)
I'm hoping sooner than later we get some word on both the Kingdom waves and the SS '86 Movie line...
That would definitely help me figure out what's going on with my "maybe" list.
Posted by Sabrblade on August 9th, 2020 @ 12:15pm CDT
The plan for CW Sideswipe was that Hasbro would have had Fun Pub release one instead of doing it themselves since they were making Fun Pub release Hasbro's unused leftover work at the time, but Fun Pub didn't get to it before Hasbro pulled the license from them. And it would have ended up being just a straight redeco of CW Breakdown with no new head since Hasbro made Breakdown's head able to work for both him and Sideswipe without the need of a new one.-Kanrabat- wrote:Sabrblade wrote:There was no CW Sideswipe.

That's how it was with the Seekers when they first dropped. Scorponok surprised me as there was a couple on the shelf plus a lot of Earthrise, both Voyager and Deluxe. This is my first city bot so I had to grab him.

Well, that's the thing, the seekers are being sold at every store, but it looks like only 1 out of every few districts is gonna stock scorponok right now, so they have fewer stores to spread their volume out to, so it makes sense that the stores that are gonna get it would get a couple

Sometimes, actually most times, I do not understand retail decisions. I'm sure there are some analytics somewhere that informs decisions but they don't make sense to me.

I'm guessing that, since this is the first time a titan has been sold at retail since TrU closed, target's testing to see if it'll sell at all; they carry a large selection of high-priced items during christmas, so they might be seeing if it'll sell, and if it does (which it is) they might make it a standard item for all stores later, I think it being at certain stores has to do with the 'collectors corner' thing they launched a little while back.
It's also possible that hasbro can't produce enough to stock every target in the US right now due to current circumstances

Doesn't make sense to me why a huge population area like Chicago and its surroundings wouldn't be well stocked with something like Scorponok so they could make a killing with sales.
On my side of Connecticut I never saw the seekers at all in any Target I've been in, but don't plan on getting them anyway. But definitely agree the distribution has been spotty and doesn't make sense.

The Titan Master that comes with Scorponok is cool but I think the middle stage figure, Mega Zarak(?), looks interesting with the Titan Master Scorponok that came with the Titans Return Grotusque NYCC 2017 figure. This way all three stages have Scorponok's face.
D-Maximal_Primal, those pictures are pretty cool. You got a whole Autobot city going on with all the A.I.R. lock stuff connected. I need to put Astrotrain back into shuttle mode and get him ready for lift off.

I usually only have one figure per character in my collection (with a few exceptions), and Siege Ironhide was the first figure I'd bought new in-store in 10 years, so it has a sentimental value that ER Ironhide could never match. So I'll probably just end up selling ER Ironhide and making some of my money back, because as you said, these figures aren't particularly cheap. And given what usually happens to Amazon exclusives, maybe I'll hold on to him for a few months and let my investment mature a bit.

This is why I've chosen to purchase the exlusives even if I ain't feeling it at the time. I can always hang on to it and sell if need be. Transformers are practically an investment when you see some of the prices on eBay.
Also, I totally would have missed out on the Decepticon clones if they weren't an exclusive. Had no desire for them at all then once I had them in hand they were so friggin' cute I had to open the box right up.

Don't you think it's dangerous to allow someone like Zarak access to the internet?
I can't wait until my Scorpy shows up. Come on Pulse...

One more fun shot. I unfortunately don’t own Omega Supreme and my Trypticon is packed deep in some boxes.
SGM
Edit: dug out my G1 Fort Max for a pose for size comparison to ER Scorponok

I see that your Metroplex is in base mode.
Nice!

You know a figure is a failure when simply sitting down is "base mode." I know we can say that about figures from the 80s and even the 90s, but it's inexcusable for a figure from 2013, especially a Titan that's supposed to be complex.
Anyway, let's get back to Earthrise talk, Titan Metroplex belongs in the Titan thread.

His deco is otherwise very nice, I especially like the black detailing around the windows in alt mode. I don't have a Prowl in my collection, so I might get this set just for the Prowl (before the secondary market prices skyrocket, as Amazon exclusives tend to do).

I'm realizing more and more that TF collecting is like the stock market, some figures hold value, some gain value and some lose value. The tricky part is predicting it; I bought Siege Thundercracker as soon as I saw him because I thought (for whatever reason) he would be harder to find later, and boy was I wrong.

I feel odd now that I own every TR/Legends leader class figure with a base mode and every Titan so far, I don't have adequate floor space to build the ultimate city....As Megatron would say...How Ironic....
I have a covered patio outside. I may just have to take a whole day and plan a photo shoot.
