Sweet!
Given the previous descriptions of this episode, did anyone else think his description of how he survived the proximity bomb was a little... off?
Given the title, who thinks we'll get to see Fowler blow a few gaskets?

It's entirely plausible that Cybertron could have had oceans. The Quintesson world had oceans and cybernetic aquatic life so why not Cybertron?
It does suck that they killed off the chance of bringing Seaspray to the show but I suppose that if the Autobots want some water based support personnel, they can always have Broadside make an appearance.

Assuming Wheeljack isn't just ignorant of/lying about the reason they wound up back on earth and it is played off as coincidence...
I choose to believe all these cybetronians and cybertronian relics end up on earth because Unicron gives off a sort of resonance that acts like a magnet for free-drifting cybertronian technology and calls to the subconscious of living cybertronians.

What is up with Prime and killing off random minibots. Tailgate, Cliffjumper and now Seaspray... this is too much. I mean at this rate Pipes or Outback will be killed off screen in a few episodes soon. That is my guess. If they kill Warpath, I quit.
Posted by Sabrblade on March 22nd, 2012 @ 6:48pm CDT
While I do agree with you, consider this as well. Would their deaths make as large an impact on us if they were just some random unnamed or newly-named character instead of one wit ha well known name? Would we feel for them as much if they were just nameless nobodies or noobs instead of recognizably-named characters?burning_sirius wrote:What is up with Prime and killing off random minibots. Nameless nobodies would be the hundreds of late G1 micromasters lol.

besides the whole unicron thing, which no cybertronians knew about(maybee the original primes but maybe not). Earth was obviously important to the ancients of cybertron and to the bots at some point(s) in time for some reason that hasn't been explained yet.

TF: Prime, everybody.
Why spend the time and money to develop his model, personality and voice when he is going to die immediately and it doesn't effect the story.
On the reverse side, the reason for making it Seaspray and not an unnamed or new named fodderbot is
1. Little shout-out for old school fans that know the lore. Same as Bantor last week.
2. For said fans it adds emotional weight, we already hate Dreadwing, bastard blew up Seaspray!
3. No name seems out of character...
Wheeljack - "I got a call from an autobot in need of help, but Dreadwing murdered him."
Optimus Prime - "Damn him! Who was it?"
Wheeljack - "Huh, who was what?"
Ratchet - "Who called you, which of our allies died? Ironhide? Sideswipe? Prowl?"
Wheeljack - "Eh, I dunno, some guy."

Obviously, Jack is not a minibot. Duh~! The Logic goes like this:
IF (Minibot && in love with Arcee)
dead
else
safe
BOTH Tailgate (minibot white Windcharger) AND Cliffjumper (NOT a Bumblebee retool) were in love with Arcee.
What that says about a future Transformer X Fleshy relationship... is up to you of course Sabrblade.
About the micromasters, both Blackout and Barricade in the movieverse have little to do with their G1 namesakes. Thus because they are not countless rehashes, they are fine. Plus, they both die grueling deaths in their movieverse-source material... so I do not see what point you are making.
If anyone now and days thinks of Blackout and Barricade... they are not going to think of their micromasters... this is also shown in Guido's fan art depicting G1 Barricade as sharing Prowl's body-type Marvel style (which is cool). I guess later he got the micromaster body.

You missed my point completely. There is no proof that either Cliffjumper or Tailgate were ever in love with Arcee. both treated her as just a fellow Autobot and friend, and same for her with them.burning_sirius wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Being Arcee's assigned teammate =/= being her love interest. Also going on the completely hypothetical, Acree could of had more partners than just Cliffjumper and Tailgate but why are they they only ones she remembers. To me, her heart healed after Tailgate's death and she let Cliffjumper in and BAM he dies too.
To me Arcee is the Doom Bitch of the series. Similar to Yoko from Gurren Lagann. In GL, Yoko only had very brief relationships (like 5 minutes worth) before her victims died.

Given how fragile Transformers are in Prime (this is not the Unicron Trilogy), character deaths I imagine happen all the time. I mean after a million years or so you think it would be routine another statistic added to the body count... idk, I like my war series that have tons of death to be a bit more realistic in this regard. Unless Arcee had a huge personal attachment to them, then that would be when she would care. I mean think about the thousands of Cybertronians who have died. Does she care about them all?? Or does she care about every Autobot who has been her partner who has died. Canonically, only Tailgate and Cliffjumper ones who are... but to me she should of had tons of partners. Again, I admit this is not Legend of the Galactic Heroes... but I wish Transformers would get a series on that kind of level so that we would not have arguments over Arcee and her partners/(potential love interests).
I still maintain their deaths hold more weight for her if they were her lovers.

I'm also discounting "coincidence" with the possibility that Dreadwing was either summoned by Megatron, or decided on his own to rendezvous with Megatron's team. Tried to shake Wheeljack all he could, but ended up getting shot during the final approach.

But Dreadwing and Skyquake was never even a seeker! Now if they would have gone with the names Dirge and Acid Rain, that would be a plus for the show, but this way it's just lame.
Or even Darkwing and Dreadwind... that would even explain the similarity.

Well, it looks like the writers actually read the new comics, that's a plus. The minus is, the show is slow as hell, and there aren't many characters fully used in episodes - they are either just lurking in the background, or not showing up at all. The writers should ask for some advice from Roberts.
