It's about time we got conformation on Airachnid.
Thank god there's a new Bulkhead coming out, as I missed out the first time.
Rumble? I have a feeling that's going to be a retool of the RID Cliffjumper mold, like Hot Shot is a retool of Bumblebee

Rumble eh? Wouldn't it be a sick joke if it was the HFTD scout mold and they just packaged and sold it as a deluxe?
Posted by tekering on February 2nd, 2012 @ 10:53am CST
Ironhide, however, is not expected to make an appearance anytime soon, according to showrunner Jeff Kline:

Alas, I fear Bulkhead's new mold will be as underwhelming inferior as all the other "Powerizers" in this "Robots in Disguise" line.
Thank god for Takara's First Edition releases!

Actually that would be awesome; it would be nice to be able to get that mold for less than eight times the American retail price for a Scout.kirbenvost wrote:Rumble eh? Wouldn't it be a sick joke if it was the HFTD scout mold and they just packaged and sold it as a deluxe?
At the rate we're going, Deluxes will be about the size of Scouts in a year or two anyway:

And FE toys have seriously become more trouble than they are worth.
I don't understand why a flagship line like this has had such a difficult time coming together and why (nearly) all the FE's are being re-molded. It is frustrating and detrimental to the product name.
Speaking for myself, Prime will be not much more than a footnote in my collection, represented only the few per-ordered RiD toy's I paid for back in November, or any bot's I happen to catch on clearance.

Are we sure that the powers-hat-be haven't decided to rename him "Dreadwing"? Or "Dreadwind"? I mean, it's not like we've seen them all together in a room at the same time....Mkall wrote:Whatever happened to Voyager Skyquake?

Nonsense. Skyquake was in the cartoon, voiced by Richard Green.metaphorge wrote:Are we sure that the powers-hat-be haven't decided to rename him "Dreadwing"? Or "Dreadwind"? And we've seen the prototype.
Dreadwing, however, has not appeared yet, being confirmed for season 2, and to be voiced by Tony Todd.

We saw him alongside the proto of Voyager Starscream, who has Powerizer aspects built into him. Since skyquake was seen along with him, it makes since for Skyquake to also be a Powerizer.craggy wrote:maybe Skyquake was a first edition prototype, that they're only going to show you pictures of once, and never release!

You are assuming, of course, that Prime is going to stick to its "no reuse/recolors of character models" pledge and that Dreadwin$ will not be a prepaint of Skyquake's mold.Sabrblade wrote:Nonsense. It seems strange that we haven't seen any solicits for a Voyager jet mold (that is not Starscream) that we've seen as a nearly-complete proto and have gotten solicits for another Voyager jet mold (that is also not Starscream), though stranger things have happened.

I was suggesting that perhaps the Voyager prototype we saw referred to as "Skyquake" will see release as "Darkwing" (or "Darkwind," dependant upon whether Kapow or BBTS made the typo on their preorders), which is a similar, but not identical, statement.
Perhaps we will see a relative downpour of different Decepticon Voyager jets in the Prime line, but that doesn't line up with Hasbro's modus operandi in the past (If you'll remember, the reason Universe Galvatron is a Deluxe was to avoid having too many similarly-sized Decpticon tanks on the market all at once); I'm having trouble remembering the last time we saw more than one Voyager jet on the market simultaneously.
In any case I'll be thrilled to be incorrect. ;D

I'm pretty sure Skyquake is going to be a Powerizer, because you can see the transparent plastic in his arms. It's just integrated a lot better than Prime& Starscream's.

Haha, yeah probably. It would be nice, I'd still be kinda miffed to be paying deluxe price for a scout, but at least it's better than not having it at all, which is my current situation.

Nice, I'd love a bigger version of that!
Edit: Waitaminute...I'm seeing similarities with movie Ironhide there. I really hope he's more of a G1 homage. If they want to give him the character of Bayverse 'Hide, okay, just as long as he's red.
Aside from the realy dumb ways Hasbro is handling it, this is still shaping up to be a really great line. The only ones I'm really unimpressed by so far are Powerizer Prime & Revealer Ratchet. I don't know where I'm going to find the space to display them all!

That picture is very misleading. If you look at them straight on from above, RID Cliffjumper is way closer to the FE version in size than it is to Windcharger, who is large for a scout anyway. Check out Peaugh's review for proof.

Both Prime Cliffjumpers are kind of dinky compared to earlier Deluxes in car mode, though a portion of that is probably because Cliffjumper would be a fairly large (and long) car if he were real.
My United Jazz is making FE Cliffjumper look tiny when they're parked side-by-side. I should pull out Cybertron Overdrive or his Big Daddy repaint for the sake of comparison, since their alt-modes are a similar type of car as Cliffjumper's.

a)I already did before I posted that, b)it's already been pointed out in the thread and c)it was clearly a joke, which I'm not going to explain if you didn't get it the first or 2nd time around.

the only reason I can think is that maybe the FE molds are too expensive to keep making? Maybe someone at Hasbro made a mistake, and everyone else down the line went with it, until eventually someone said "hey, wait a minute, these are costing us $2 to make here, we can't afford these! hey, hey, jimmy, go get me some stripped down, cut up and nonsensical versions of these guys, quick!"

As I asked elsewhere, has anyone done a comparison of the total number of parts between a First Edition and a Robots in Disguise version? I don't have any RID in hand, but it looks like they have a lower part count, which would cut assembly time and thus cut labor costs, which have what has been ballooning at a high rate of speed.craggy wrote:the only reason I can think is that maybe the FE molds are too expensive to keep making? Another possibility would be losing access to some or all of the FE toolings, which could result from a factory dispute. Does anyone know whether the First Editions were made in China or in Vietnam; how about the Robots in Disguise versions? I know Takara Tomy was relocating at least a portion of their manufacturing to Vietnam, but I'm unsure where they are in this process (or where they were when the First Edition toys were made, which could have been a fair amount of time ago).

While many of the Japanese releases from United and DOTM lines have "Made in Vietnam" stamped on them, the Takara First Edition Prime figures are all marked "Made in China." I think you may be on to something here...

When he destroys his enemies, he uses earthquake as his main weapons. Now that I'm glad to hear that Rumble is going to be in the Prime line, I'm almost certain that he won't be a cassette, since that he will be a Revealer/Deluxe, but a vehicle instead. If Rumble is a vehicle in the Prime series, will he be a car, truck, jeep, etc.? Will this version of Rumble will be a toy-only character, or will he be both toy and show character? Will he retain his street tough gimmick, just like he did in G1? And will he use his earthquake power again in the Prime series, or will he use a completely different weapon?
Though, Rumble better be purple/blue to match his color scheme from the ancient past. Aligned Rumble and Frenzy current follow FIRRIB. No need to to make it confusing by changing this set up.

He didn't ask, "What do you think Rumble will turn into?" Had he, I would have either thought up some altmode possibilities or would have gone with a simple "I dunno."
But instead, he asked, "What will Rumble turn into?" This is asking for a definitive factual answer, to which there is none available to us at this time.
