Japanese site Toyhobby.jp has a listing for a soon to be coming Exclusive Henkei seeker. So the question on everyone's minds is, who is it? Thundercracker, Skywarp, or someone? The only thing shown is a picture that is the blacked out Henklei Starscream mold. If Stormrider, or any of the other members of our community can read the Japanese written there, perhaps there will be more of a clue to who it will be.

Here is the link to Toyhobby's site, and the image and text.

Seeing that it is an exclusive, it will still be hard to come by, but this gives hope to the growing contingent of supporters for Japanese Henkei releases of other seekers!

Who's to say it's Skywarp? It might be Thundercracker, Sunstorm or even Ghost of Starscream. Only time will tell...

My money is on Sunstorm.

But a Ghost Starscream (transluscent plastic and all) is still a possibility. Takara loves translucent plastic.

Of course they could always make it 2 for the price of one, and have a translucent yellow/orange Sunstorm.

That's nice.

I think this is the most likely release, but I wouldn't discount Thundercracker either.

I'd love to see a "Classics" themed Thundercracker released, and Tomy/Takara seems to be the only chance most fans have for one that's not a Botcon exclusive.

While I've been arguing that the BotCon exclusive seekers won't be released for Henkei at retail in Japan, I wouldn't be at all surprised if those figures are released as limited exclusives in Japan such as Wonderfest and such (with runs of 500 to 1,000 to keep the inline with those figures being exclusives). For those of you who don't know, generally Wonderfest exclusives fetch a pretty penny. The G1 colored Movie Arcee goes for around $150 (give or take $25). I would be 100% OK with those figures being released as exclusives in Japan.

It´s impossible for them to release botcon exclusive toys like that.

Hasbro said at Toyfair there would be 1.0 repaints for 2.0. Its possible that this is the Japanese release of a seeker repaint planned for 2.0 and Hasbro just hasn’t said anything about it. Most likely it would be either Skywarp or Sunstorm.

No doubt--there's already 17 pages of that train wreck...

I'm betting Skywarp on this one, but I would drop a doody in my pants from sheer happiness if it's Sunstorm...

(for Sunstorm, not the doody)

I'm gonna go on record and say that I hope that it's not Sunstorm. I personally don't see the attraction of a banana-colored F-15.

Is Sunstorm even considered a real character in Japan?

The first exclusive version we received him was an E-Hobby exclusive, which was quite popular.

And I didn't know bananas were orange? :P Just kidding, I know some Sunstorms have been yellow with orange, but I most sharply picture the orange E Hobby version, and the orange Walmart exclusive (Armada Thrust repaint)... but I know there are yellow versions too.

From the point of view of a Canadian that was lucky enough to get Skywarp and has access to about 3 local stores who bring in Japanese exculsive releases, all i ask is that it not be Skywarp.

I would love it to be Thundercracker but i'll be happy to see SunStorm.

I ran it trough a translator,it doesn´t mention which seeker it is,instead it describes how there is currently an unquenchable thirst for transformers, or more specificly an "uncooled heat" (please let it be sunstorm?) and that it's being made to celebrate the second live action tf movie.

Or does this company some how know that there will be another Seeker in the 2nd movie??

The selfish part of me hopes it is either Sunstorm or Ghost Starscream.

The "hey, I want to be cool to the fandom" side of me hopes it is a Thundercracker to satisfy all the yappers who did not buy one.

Now that is probably the best answer to this mystery! And you're right about Thandercracker being the dangerous answer Starscream. Can you imagine how much it would turn the fandom upside down if it does end up being TC?

I think someone suggested in an earlier post it would be Ramjet. I disagree with that because Ramjet was already announce as a regular future Henkei release. This siloutte is highly suggestive of the Screamer/TC/Skywarp mold which just has to make you wonder. :-?

According to word lingo (I've bolded and underlined my points in translation) we know its a limited commemerative item. From this we gain absolutely no information whatsoever.

My second point gives a clue that the Movie due out in 2009 is in fact due out in 2009. This could me a movie redeco of a hen KAY figure, although its more likely that TF2 will win best film at the Oscars next year.

The THIRD and most important point of them all say HEAT DOES NOT COOL DOWN!!! If that doesn't "Scream" Sunstorm to you, I don't know what to tell you.

So there you have it, we'll have a limited commemerative movie redeco of sunstorm in 2009. Your welcome. :P

I thought the E-hobby G1 Sunstorm wasn't very popular in Japan and it was only westerners that got wet over it?

Well the clue in the description points to Sunstorm but how does he commemerate the upcoming release of the new TF movie? He won't be in it because few people know who he is.

So I'm thinking it's Skywarp... with LILAC NOT F@#KING GRAPE!!!

Which would look beautiful.

Could be a Ghost Starsceam since SS will be a major character in TF2, Japanese people like translucent stuff :)

The clue of "heat which does not cool" or whatever could be a description of Starscreams burning ambition for power.

Anyone ever order from this store? it's all moonspeak to me.

A G1 toy coloured metallic blue TC would be nice too :-P

Black Starscream uses Machine Wars SS's colour scheme - Black with dark teal & bronze.

Different enough to warrant being made in my opinion.

You'd think after all the times you guys watched all this crap in it's japanessesieness, hell Ryan you even got all amped up cause you can finnaly watch the 86 movie in japanesse.

So with all that watching reading and listen, you mean to tell me you guys can't read understand japanesse!?!

See thats why I don't care, even if the dub sucks, I can mull it over and make it better while listening while I strain my mac and cheese in the next room and not skip a beat!

But buy all means, keep whatching shows where you don't know what the hell is going on cause obviously it must be better :P

The information is a good teaser but unfortunately it doesn't give any clear information. As others have mentioned it references the Transformers movie in 2009 and explains how the Transformers series has been very popular. This figure will be a limited version, but it doesn't say how to purchase it. It does reference this Japanese store, http://www.ganbo-store.com/index.jsp. Apparently there will be more information coming in May about this. It could be a movie repaint because it references a commemoration of the first Transformers Movie.

I believe that FAB Frenzy was a Toy Hobby Market exclusive last year in Japan.

Japanese is very difficult. And reading it is even more difficult than speaking or listening because there are three different alphabets and about 10,000 kanjis that can have completely different meanings depending on how they are arranged.

Hey, I can only speak english, but can understand Italian, German, Spanish, and Korean from the same type of exposure (:|

Word association is easy over time if your paying attention. If not then your blowing smoke when you say watching something in a tongue you cant understand is a better than watching it in one you can even if the dub is subpar.

Sure it's easy to pick up words over time if you watch TV in a different language. And I bet Ryan and others have picked up lots of different Japanese expressions from watching Transformers in Japanese; not to mention that the voices usually sound better than the dubbed version. But, listening to TV in Japanese doese not help at all with reading Kanji. You're thinking in romantic language mode that uses the same alphabet and has phonetics. Even Korean only has 24 characters and uses phonetics. But Kanji is completely different. Your examples are not comparable.

Kanji does not have any phonetics associated with it. So you can listen to Japanese for years and pick up words, but it does not help with reading. In addition, each Kanji has two different pronounciations - the Japanse form and the Chinese form, which complicate things even more. Japanese people study Japanese for years, and they still often have trouble reading and writing in Kanji.

So I would totally understand if peole watch Transformers in Japanese and pick up some words but wouldn't know how to read Kanji at all.

I agree with ThunderThruster That a re-done version of Skywarp with a better choice of purple would be a suitable choice. I did a better job on the custom color I mixed for my sons F-15 model than Hasbro did on Classics Skywarp. I do have to admit that seeing this new one turn out to be Thundercracker would be very cool. I was more than a little miffed that Hasbro did not give everyone a reasonable shot at the Classics versions of the original Trio. It's actually a slap in the fans faces to go and make the Classics line and then screw us all over on one of the best G1 classic concepts. We got all 3 for the Armada line even though they look nothing like the originals as far as body style goes. You know, the more I stew on it, who gives a rats a** what the mystery jet is? The majority of us will never get our hands on it anyway, Hasbro had their chance to do it right and screwed the pooch so why speculate? I'll pick up some classics Starscreams from the online stores, pull out my hobby paints and do up Thundercracker AND Sunstorm and they'll probably look more accurate than whatever the companies are putting out. I'd encourage everyone else to do likewise, e-mail your pics. to the appropriate companies and let them know that if they can't please the customers we'll find ways around them.
