Dood, that's messed up.

The crotch on the united version is missassembled for one.
No really, I thought it was just my Primal, but this one also seems to have a faulty crotch. Nothing a screwdriver can't fox, BTW.
I re-screwed his crotch. It's fine now.

I'd say the colors are exactly the same. However, United Optimus Primal, nor Beast Megatron have their insignias as far as I can tell.

Axalon looks nice, could've got him on Sunday but picked UNpath instead.

What's wrong with the crotch on Primal? Odd you should mention this because I was thinking while photographing these that the United version of Optimus Primal was the most stable version ... it didn't flop around as much in the upper leg area, especially when holding the surfboard cannon thingy-ma-jig in robot mode.
As for the differences, United Optimus Primal has a slightly darker shade of red, which might be difficult to see in the photos. The Beast Wars 10th Anniversary version has the Maximal symbol on the left side of the beast mode's butt, whereas the United version doesn't have any faction symbol.
(In the above photo, United Optimus is on the left, BW10 is on the right. They are reversed in the following photo.)
Oddly, United Beast Megatron has the Decepticon faction symbol on it's right hip/upper leg, whereas the Predacon faction symbol is on the opposite side on the BW10 version.

This.

Looking at my UN Primal, I can't find any faction symbol on either him or the surfboard.

I thought that was a little odd, but I have to say it made me want Ark Unicron just a little more... I'd still rather pay for the original Cybertron toy though.
Gotta say this batch of repaints is one of the stranger waves Takara has done lately.

Meaning I want both of them to have their correct symbols, or none at all. Seeing as Beast Megatron has a symbol, and Primal has none, I'm in favor of the original BW 10th Anniversary releases.
I know, picky picky...

Primal isn't worth the money for me. The surfboard thing just seems like wasted plastic and it isn't that cool of a redesign. I still have Optimal Optimus and inexplicably blue BM Primal if I want a monkey prime, and really, I tend to use Armada Prime as a vehicle mode version of the Primal character usually anyway.
Unicron isn't something I'm interested in at all really. Looks ok, but not my Kup of tea really. He's too wee.
Axalon has a great mold and a pretty nice colour scheme as well. Nowhere near as cool as the Botcon Sharkticons mind you, but still pretty nice. In fact, seeing the comparison pic, all versions of that toy look good. And I still don't have one. Don't think I'll get this one though.

Not sure if you did that on purpose, but the added humor is always a pleasure here. Great galleries as always.

How do you figure? These are Japanese toys for the United toyline, not Generations. And, we already got these toy molds in the Energon, Cybertron, and Beast Wars 10th Anniversary toylines.alternator77 wrote:well with the foc figures and these guys that makes 12 of the promised 40 figs for generations

You don't actually want to swap it, do you? That's crazy talk!
Personally these four don't really do anything for me. Easy passes.

The deluxe price point has changed, the figures have become smaller. 3 of these figures (excluding Axalon) are just a lot more plastic than the average deluxe figure now. Axalon is priced like regular deluxes because he's not as large as the others.
Takara is charging too much for these, but they also don't have a price point between deluxe and voyager at this time. Same goes for the Scout class two packs which they're charging too much for.

It was the Axalon, still being carded that confused me the most! I'd forgotten about the scout 2pks, not that it stopped my dropping the cash on Rumble and Frenzy!
What does a Takara deluxe retail at in Japan then?

I don't think a Deluxe's head on a Voyager's body would look all that good.trence5 wrote:Quick question folks - can anyone tell me if this:

These prices all come from e-Hobby:
United Deluxes retail for 2,125 Yen or 2,587 Yen and "Voyagers" for 3,326 Yen. Meanwhile, Arms Micron Deluxes are 1,848 Yen and Arms Micron Voyagers are 3,696 Yen.
As you can see, TakaraTomy has a pretty liberal pricing system between lines.

sarcasm doesnt register well here sorry
but you kind of made my point we've seen these at least 3 times but the kiddies havent. and hasbro has the tendency of following takaras lead so it just wouldnt suprose me if we saw these released again at some point we did get 2 cyclonus and 2 versions of rodimus not to mention rts bb and his original classics counterpart, as well as the legacy of bb 3 pack.and those molds are fairly recent compared to these 4.

damn, its a deluxe. Ok thanx for the answer. I gotta a custom in mind in this style of "not quite Prime" Optimus looking head would be perfect for. Is there a voyager version of this figure any way?Sabrblade wrote:I don't think a Deluxe's head on a Voyager's body would look all that good.trence5 wrote:Quick question folks - can anyone tell me if this:

The only Voyager (or rather, Mega) class-sized Optimus Primal molds there are the Transmetal Optimus Primal toy:trence5 wrote:damn, its a deluxe. Ok thanx for the answer. And the Blast Punch Optimus Primal toy:
Oh, and there's also the BotCon 2006 Timelines "Dawn of Future's Past" Axalon Optimus Primal, which is a remold of the Cybertron Voyager Crumplezone figure.
The original was an Ultra, which is larger than Voyager.craggy wrote:the original one was big. maybe a bit bigger than voyager sized though. It's been a long time since I had one in-hand. head isn't really the same though.

Hate to correct you there, but the Ultras of yesteryear are today's Voyagers. I have my Universe 2003 Optimus Primal next to my Cybertron Galaxy Force Vector Prime, and they're the same size.
