It's rumored that Battleslash and Roadtrap will combine into Battletrap, the Dinobots are incredibly likely to combine, Cosmos already got reissued in Titans Return, Legends class Slash is a thing, Shrapnel is presumed to just be a reissue of the Thrilling 30 figure, Femmebots are happening and are very likely to combine, combiner torso Inferno is in the leaks and Jazz is possibly going to go with him, leader class Optimus Prime with the same gimmick as Rodimus Prime, a Galvatron colored repaint of Rodimus, Optimus Primal using the same gimmick as the other leader class figures to become Optimal Optimus, Terrorcons are happening, Cindersaur might be a Slash repaint/remold, we can't tell, Windcharger and Tailgate both share a mold, which is a completely new mold, and Outback is happening as a repaint of Titans Return Brawn. Pretty crazy stuff.

Now do the same with Scorn and Nitro Zeus!!
Power of the Primes is looking to be a great line. I'm wondering what they will do with the Cybertron Resistance and Dinobot teams for the combined forms. Totally unprecedented really (Beast will not count for the dinobots). Although, if the Cybertron resistance (using it for the ladies) team combines, it will be the 2nd female combiner. man, we are moving along here!
Though, with the idea that they want to release the entire team in the same wave, where will Jazz, Dreadwind and Darkwing fit in? Wave 2 that is sort of random?
I'm pretty sure that Slash's inclusion in the Generations line has less to do with him being a *beloved* character in the AoE line, and more to do with...Hasbro wanted a random 6th Dinobot, Legends class size. They could have went with any number of character names, or created a new one. Personally I think Sling (the Dimetrodon) would have been an awesome choice but...Raptors since JP and all that...
Paddles!

Same with Hotrod, if they planned it out a bit better they could've held back the TR hotrod and released him as part of the new line...
Hasbro should have waited - Ultra Magnus should have been in Titans Return with Minimus Ambus as a Titan Master which would have put Powermaster Optimus Prime in Power of the Primes with a proper Power Master.

But Minimus ambus doesnt become his head, he is instead inside Ultra magnus, as the toy correctly depicts.
Wont argue with POTP for Power Master Prime though.

I get that.
I don't really follow the current comic fiction though. My view is more from a tooling and play pattern perspective. Unlike Leaders in Titans Return, Leaders in Combiner Wars don't really interact with the rest of the Combiner Wars line. Ultra Magnus in Combiner Wars seems like a one-off to me.
This could have led to Ultra Magnus with Titan Master Minimus Ambus for the comics or with Titan Master Knock Out or Over-Run for an Energon homage.
Then that mold leads to a proper Power of the Primes Powermaster Optimus Prime...

But if they'd waited and made an Ultra Magnus with Minimus Ambus as a Titan Master instead, then people would have been deprived of the Ultra Magnus that we did get which did Minimus Ambus the right way.Rysquad wrote:william-james88 wrote:Rysquad wrote:frogbat wrote:Cant' wait - think there will be more skippable toys for me than the previous 2 lines. Trust me, the way they released Ultra Magnus was the best and smartes way possible. Plus, looking at play pattern, its not like the leaders of POTP interact fully with the other figures too. They just have a matrix which can be switched out with a powermaster or titanmaster. So its not even something that only works within POTP.
And I feel we are very fortunate that Hasbro still found ways to give us leaders that are independent of combiners because the sad thing of combiners, especially deluxes, is that they are all simplified to accommodate the combining gimick, at least compared to other Gen deluxes.
Combiners are fun, but when its the same engineering repeated over and over, we get fatigue. Think of it this way, we had 6 waves of new deluxes in combiner wars and by the end there was a very heavy fatigue with the line. But in Titans Return, we are at the end and still want more. Do you know what I mean? For those who like the puzzle aspect of these toys, diversity in molds and engineering is the spice of life.

That could go either way. Prowl and his mold mates, along with Dead End and his mold mates all had their pegs covered in bot mode by the fake car hood chest. What made most people tire of those molds was the 10-20 uses between CW, UW and funpub. I suspect if they were all based off the Jazz mode instead, there would still be some apathy toward the Jazz mode then. Basically give us 6+ uses of the same mold, and people will get tired of it.
I think the key is limiting the re-uses of any mold with only a head and deco swap, in favor of more shared engineering and minor retooling.

Nope, take a look at the images avaiable for both Snarl and Slag. The feet and tail match Slag. There are no Pentagon shaped spikes on the tail to match the Stegosaurus design of Snarl. Plus the overall coloring is a match to Slag for the leg. Note that Snarl has gold feet, and Slag has Gray feet.
And the right side of the image is definitely of Rippersnapper as well. The leg design and color matches Rippersnapper's toy. Plus, Hasbro has yet to show off a toy that they previously officially revealed as part of the teasers. They would have just shown the whole picture of Beachcomber.

Not necessarily, but (to quote Springer) believe it or not, this is the fun part. I, for one, am enjoying analyzing the details of the individual bots teaser reveals to figure out which one it is, and to put my two cents in.

I swear, I don't mean this the way I'm worried it may come across, especially to you, Will. But I'm not sure what the issue of this kind of speculation is. If, in the case of the Titan Predaking mock up from the weekend, we're supposed to be glad that Hasbro is "trusting" us or whatever with peeks at what's coming soon, why should we not be feeling more or less the same with these images? If we're talking about arguing which Dinobot this foot and tail belongs to, I can totally agree that it's mostly pointless, since you're right, we do know that we're getting Dinobots, and we can reasonably surmise that we'll see them over the weekend. But don't we know we're getting Dinobots either from that Powerpoint of images from the summer that was pulled from the boards because Hasbro was upset that it leaked, or from the 4chan leak that was decried as fake because Hasbro hadn't confirmed the info? So basically, through a combo of leaks that we're supposed to reject or accept based mostly on brand loyalty, we know that these images are of the DinobotS, as in not just a Grimlock or a Slag, but the whole team. We heard about Titan Predaking through the 4chan leak, and got a picture last weekend. We heard about Dinos and Terrorcons through both leaks, and now are getting official teaser images of them.
So, what are we supposed to do? Are we supposed to get hyped at leaked news, or disregard it and wait for the official news that, when it leaks out like these images, we are then not serving any purpose in speculating over? While I realize it's fun to guess Dinobot feet, I don't care enough to join in, because I know we're getting Dinobots, because that 4chan leak told us that. At least the Terrorcons all look different, and we're not just counting toes or looking for thagomizers, a word I only know because of Dinobots. I'm finding the Terrorcon images exciting, because they seem like they're going to look like the Terrorcons, and not just some rando monster things called Terrorcons, the way the AoE Dinobots ended up being not really the kind of Dinobots that I had interest in.
I mean, we're fans. You know how fans are. A half second image of a finger in a movie trailer and we're off to the races trying to identify who it belongs to. There's no real harm in it, especially when we already know what's coming, again, from the 4chan leak and that Powerpoint.
But that's totally Rippersnapper. No way it's Fizzle.

Really just comes down to being the right chest. Prowl and the like just don't quite look right with a (forgive me for saying this) flat chest. I'm not saying they should do them again or shouldn't have done him before, just that it's too bad they weren't a little more creative back during CW and made something like Jazz back then. Sure, we'd then have four uses of the Jazz mold, but that sure does beat the 16 uses of Dead End that we have now.

Ah yes, you can really see the similarities in the... presence of legs and arms.
Okay to be fair I can see what you're talking about to some extent, but there are plenty of details which don't match up either. The feet seem to be quite similar-looking, but at the same time the knees and shins look almost totally different - and since those are all one part, what would be the point in creating a newly-tooled part that just so happened to be 20% identical to the original one? I think it's more likely that some details just happened to line up, rather than that Hasbro immediately jumped on the opportunity to turn a jet into a limbed shark just 'cause they're so lazy and predictable.
The possibility isn't out of the question, I'll grant you that - the more I think about it, the more Air Raid's or the other Aerialbots' engineering could work for Rippersnapper (would that really be so bad anyway? It'd still be a significant enough change to feel relatively new and we know it'd be a solidly-engineered toy at least) - but I think it's a little too early yet to cry "predictable retool". Let's wait until we actually see the toy(s) before we denounce them as non-original molds; otherwise, you're just making the prediction that Hasbro's being predictable, and if that doesn't do one's head in I don't know what would.
