To be fair, all the toys Optimus RotF Leader mold gets does make him look pretty awesome.

Hobbylink Japan has him for about that much if their preorders are still open. That is excluding shipping, though.

I wish that was the case, but if Sideswipe is any indication, he'll sell out shortly and prices will go up. when I got him from BBTS at the preorder price of $84.99 I felt that he would eventually go down in price and go on sale on BBTS, but lucky for me, I had a store credit of $60.89 for an item that I had cancelled from my POL and bought him, otherwise I wouldn' of picked him up, and I do believe he is now sold out and going for over $100.00, personally I would preorder/purchase prowl and not look back, either way his value will not depreciate, specially the Takara MP version...take care and good luck

Especially whith Reprolabels. I have Alternators Jazz with repros and I'm not looking forward for a MP Jazz anymore.
With my Alternators Hound, I just need to buy the repros and some Shapeways accessories if they ever make them to have a MP Hound.
Of course, I dont say all Alternators are MP quality or even representative of their G1 counterpart.
I see the new MP line for the Autobot cars as the new Alternators line in fact. It's just too bad that they are at Takara prices.

For one thing, MP Prowl is a near exact representation of Prowl as he appears in the G1 cartoon. Alternators Prowl, on the other hand, uses a different alt mode and a little on the "chunky" side.

Meh, who I am kidding? If they ever bother brigging them over here as Hasbro NON-EXCLUSIVES at maybe around 40$ (the Human Alliance price point) I would buy them in a heartbeat. For me to pay 100$ for one of these tiny MPs, it have to be a Character I truly care about.

The trick is to preorder from the right place and at the right time.

Yeah those 2 HA figures cant compare to those mp's but if you put them next to *Human alliance Skids with Makela Barnes sitting on his shoulder. Now thats a different story. I would take Human Alliance Skids and even Deluxe battle blades bumble over mp-prowl anyday (maybe because I haven't really seen him yet) but not sideswipe he's grreat. I only would put ha skids and a couple of other formers over swipe cause swipe is that good. He is a Lambo what more can you say.
Good MP figures tho thx.
Show those Mp- Smokescreen pictures pls.

Don't forget that the Alternator chest is completely wrong. It points down and the doorwings are at the wrong angle as well.

Well, basically besides the paint scheme, decals and head sculpt, everything else about the mold does NOT represent G1 Prowl. That said, he was never intended to perfectly represent G1 Prowl, unlike MP Prowl.

Depends on where you are. Sideswipe and Red Alert on preorder actually cost me slightly less than what I pay for Voyagers at retail here.
I get that it's a huge jump for people in the US, but outside of the US, where you're paying $45-$50 or more for Voyagers, it becomes a really tough decision. I mean do I pick up a voyager class figure or do I preorder a Masterpiece Autobot Car - it's totally......
not a dilema at all

I never said that I didnt see any differences. I basically said that the Alternator is good enough.
...
That's what I say to console myself because of lack of money and display space...

Each figure only comes with one rocket launcher. You have to buy both to have them displayed with one on each shoulder.

I'll wait and see if Hasbro will be releasing these in the U.S. I'm sure if they do they'll do the right thing and include both. They seem to have a little more common sense with their MP releases.

you are wrong my friend, they come as a pair... no ifs ands or butts about it. I think these should come with all of the figures, these are the accurate shoulder cannons, not the flip out things that look like cheap pipes. now takara has dropped the ball

I did for the Sideswipe & Soundwave exclusive accessories, only to have Dr Wu put out similar sets for the figures that, IMO, were better, and overall would have cost less.

If the MP line is meant to be G1 cartoon/toy accurate, than these accessories should have been included from the get-go, as they correspond more closely to the character model of the cartoon and the original toy than the shoulder barrels we've seen previously.
I got Sideswipe's official pile drivers for the sake of supporting the official brand (and for completeness's sake), even though I will never display Sideswipe with those accessories. I felt no need to get Soundwave's Amazon cube since it was simply an extra one, identical to the one he already came with.
In this case... I need to get them... these are accessories I would actually display. I guess Prowl & Bluestreak are getting preordered at Robotkingdom... ugh.

I think there are ifs, ands, and butts here. From everything I have seen you only get one of these or you have to do with the stupid flip out things which you (very) accurately described as looking like cheap pipes.

This kinda kills my order for prowl.
Seems like accessories with the smaller sized figures are getting lesser. And the rockets are a pretty vital piece to their look, IMO, should have came packed with the figure.
Posted by gothsaurus on March 21st, 2013 @ 9:51am CDT
From interviews, it sounds like Takara gave these a really low price point/low budget for a masterpiece figure... to the point that the designer thought it might not be possible. All that said, them figuring out a way to get the figures and parts out in SOME way is commendable... not to mention finding a way to give us a show AND toy accurate version. Bravo.

Speaking of Jazz, I really hope that the next Masterpiece is him... He kind of needs that treatment.
Posted by gothsaurus on March 21st, 2013 @ 12:22pm CDT
I'm going to be upset if these four below don't get issued — for being an iconic character or unique visual mold from the season 1 lineup. (And honestly, the iGear minibots and Ironhide/Ratchet can act as a passable stand in for those characters if we never get a Masterpiece version.)
Jazz (and Stepper)
Mirage (and Diaclone Red)
Sunstreaker (and Diaclone Red)
Wheeljack (and Marlboor, Slicer)
From the Minibots:
Bumblebee
Cliffjumper
I get these above, I'll rest my case... like, forever. But of course, I'd still buy the rest of the "deluxe" car lineup... I think a jeep, trucks, van are really unique vehicles to add to the lineup... plus a vintage Corvette is always a sexy choice.
Hound (and Detritus)
Tracks (and Road Rage)
Trailbreaker / Hoist
Ironhide / Ratchet

I've got no sense of nostalgia for the original G1 toy either, since I never owned one as a kid. The launchers honestly don't mean much to me.

The Law Enforcement connection, finally, i can play good cop bad cop. But wasnt there a HA Sideswipe? Surely they couldve used him instead

That's the difference though. Prowl would have been my first TF (I got talked out of Laybying him into getting Orko instead ) and he was one of my favorite characters in the cartoon.
I picked him up as a Classics figure and after an accident with him during a force room cleanup as a teenager, I picked up the Takara reissue. I've always had a special place in my heart for the figure so with this one, my standards are fairly, but reasonably high.
Some of us have a huge nostalgia connection to the toy and for us, everything, including the launchers, matter.
