I can't believe how awesome these individual Constructicons toys look compared to Devastator. Definitely skipping him to buy the pieces, whether or not they combine.

Just how old is Jetfire supposed to be? With his landing gear out like that in robot mode, it's like he has a walking cane especially with him being all slouched over like that. Kind of lame looking.
Though they're not pictured, what's up with the Twins' faces? Their faces are kind of deformed. Can anyone explain?

The best explanation we have to date is "Michael Bay is a moron". Maybe the film will give enough rationale for the twins getting beat with the ugly stick... but likely, it'll be as much of a plot point as Jazz's death was emotionally moving in the first movie. "Oh, Jazz... ah well, the token black 'bot is dead, but now we have human friends and Bumblebee can talk again, so I say we came out ahead!"

Actually the best explanation is the fact that this is more, how to say realistic in a way that alien robots wouldn't look like the G1 Transformers but more alien like taking on for the most part, human vehicles. Since a creative out look would show that some of these are clearly good designs for a new audience and maybe fans. Though most fans love to get on their high seat by complaining about designs or change which is why anything before the movie (the first one) will always be bellow average when the fact is you can't keep something like that up and not change it.
Which what scares fans the most is change because it has to be watched. If they worked on these movies with a better director but kept the basic look I bet the films will get a positive look, with the exceptions of Devastator because he really seems stubby in design.
Same idea of change also messes with cartoons as I think more people complained about animated then they did the entire Unicron series.

Wow I feel exactly the opposite...Seeing the individual robot modes for the non-combining constructicons has continually reaffirmed my descision to just by the vehicle-only combiners...Because even if they DID turn into the robots I've seen so far, I'd never even bother transforming them...I think Devestator looks 100 times better than any of the individual constructicons...

That's the idea, because for some reason, even though they're supposed to be completely alien and in no way similar to humans, when they get old they grow beards and require canes for support.
Though they're not pictured, what's up with the Twins' faces? Their faces are kind of deformed. Can anyone explain?
No official explanation, but my theory is that they 'powerlink' with eachother (combining seems to be the gimmick for this movie), with the combined form's head being the larger half of each of their faces.
Given the apparent articulation, does anyone else think Sam might be GIJoe scale afterall?

Maybe a little, but nowhere near as bad as Universe Hot shot! It probably doesn't help that they haven't finished the chest and his legs are backwards. And wouldn't it be better for sam to ride on the shoulder? Riding on a gun might get a bit hot and riding on an arm would mean a lot of swinging around.

Devastator makes me wan't to BBBAAAAAAAAWWWWWWW!!!!
Mixmaster looks good.

is it so hard to lift up his chest peices and rotate his legs around ? you can clearly see his toes are facing the wrong way.
now as for mixmaster i need to see a better picture.

Either way, I'm definatley picking this up, cant wait to see if they do more HA figures and if so, who.

What will be interesting to see is how many people who are dissing the Constructicons now will "love" the inevitable bright green repaints Hasbro will do to appease the G1 fans.

As far as Devastator vs. individual Constructicons, I would buy all of them, the separate robots and Dev, if I had the money. As it is, I'll prob. start with the Constructicons, and wait for Dev's price to come down. I like his design, and of course I wish his components had their own robot modes, but for whatever reason they don't, so I'm choosing to appreciate them as they are: the separate Constructicons are realistic, detailed constructions machines that transform into awesome alien robots; Devastator is a huge, nigh-unstoppable alien wrecking machine. And those are pretty cool things to be in my book...

Devastator and HA Bee are easy passes.

Nope, all of you are wrong.
In one of the trailers, a few transformers crash in France, the autobot twins happen to be 2 of them. They crash near the Louvre museum, and some of the first things they see are pablo picasso paintings. Hence the deformed/rearranged faces.
I love if when people don't know the real reason and blame Bay for it all like he's some kid with down syndrome. Some of you need to get over yourselves and realize that you're not kids anymore and that this isn't g1. I grew up with g1, and many of you probably did too, but how about acting your ages, rather than acting like stubborn kindergardeners. (Not directed at anyone specific here, I'm talking about friggin' everyone.)

I thought (but could just have easily thought wrong) that it was confirmed he's about a inch smaller. Close, but not of the same size.
I'll need to see more, but Mix Master isn't looking so good...

Nekoman wrote:I thought (but could just have easily thought wrong) that it was confirmed he's about a inch smaller. Close, but not of the same size.
Dang. That actually makes him the right size next to a GIJoe (I get the impression Shia LeBoeuf is not the size of Roadblock), but Bumblebee is probably not designed with a very large margin of error.
Oh well, gotta keep hoping. Now that we finally have GIJoe sized Marvel Superheroes being made by Hasbro, we need Transformers to match!
First-Aid wrote:What will be interesting to see is how many people who are dissing the Constructicons now will "love" the inevitable bright green repaints Hasbro will do to appease the G1 fans.
Da, I keep trying to bear that in mind and try to decide whether to buy them in the realistic colors (which look pretty good) or the G1 colors.
Since they don't combine, wildly mismatching colors aren't so much of a problem. On the other hand, since they don't combine, they need something extra to give them group identity.

The Devastator render looks awesome, But I don't like the toy that much. Maybe if I get it on clearance...

First-Aid wrote:I'm going to give Hasbro the benefit of the doubt on the combiners. My belief is that they are simply too complicated in robot modes to allow for both a detailed bot mode and an accurate combination. That's not saying they won't come up with a better version down the road that DOES combine and is accurate, but with the allotted time frame the engineering may have been impossible.
What will be interesting to see is how many people who are dissing the Constructicons now will "love" the inevitable bright green repaints Hasbro will do to appease the G1 fans.
Oooh, nicely said! Me, I thought that it was mostly the budget and design time restrictions (if designers were given all the money and time to design as they please we'd be seeing over 20 different prototypes of the same toy and all of the released toys would be somewhere before masterpiece-quality...think of it) that resulted in the 2 constructicon sets, otherwise we could possibly have gotten the vehicle/bot/gestalt-in-one constructicons. I...think if I do get him, I'll go for the multi-colored movie version, no patience for waiting for the green and purple redeco to come up, that's just me <sigh>.

And all this time, I've been referring to them mostly as Picasso bots. What a coincidence! I myself grew up watching the G1 series and loved it all, and I love all the designs of the Bayformers as well, but those two are just. Irredeemably. Hideous. Cyber-robo-hillbillies. As I stated before, I won't be getting those two unless I'm paid to keep them.

i wanst the impressed with the pic of it at the toy show and i reckon it'll be one ugly toy but im more jazzed about how it'll look in the film.
cant wait to see em in action.

Having an opinion about something, and calling someone a retard are two different things. Ironically enough, thats exactly what someone did on the first page here.Caelus wrote:Head Shot wrote:I love if when people don't know the real reason and blame Bay for it all like he's some kid with down syndrome. I have nothing against people voicing their dislikes about something, they have a right to their opinion just as much as I have that same right. But when you start slinging someone's name (like calling Bay or anyone else a "retard") instead of just saying something like "oh, not a fan of the design, I'll pass" then thats not just stating your opinion anymore, its being immature.
