But the big heels on the feet in both modes concern me.

It's not rare on him, just have to be careful. All it takes is one little slip up unfortunately. Mine has survived so far, but mostly because of lack of use. I have a few backups from the Seibertron.com store though that I'm holding on to just in case.

Welcome back aboard the hype train
I cannot wait to seem more of this guy, weighed down only slightly by the appearance of a button on his back that might interfere with his articulation - still cautiously hyped

Too bad I won't be getting one. I'm holding out hope for MP transmetal OP and Megatron. I need monkeys on skateboards and dinosaurs on rollerskates.

That's a shame; but why are you hoping for a MP TM o/p and megs?
They are already show accurate, and fully functional and poseable. If you were saying a re-issue (in new non-breaking plastics) I could get behind that, but not MP's of them - unless you just wan them to get bigger figures
I could see megs' mp getting rolling wheels, multi-directional fans, gun barrels molded into the dino fingers, and alternate tail-claw plug-in's for a golden disk accessory. Don't get me wrong, they'd be great, I'm just wondering why you are holding out for this, when there doesn't really seem to be a reason for them.

Magmatron
Big
Lio
Glamvatron
Megastorm
BB and Starsrem
Dirge and Thrust
That's how I "despise" the line but this munkky is sooooo bought the moment the pre-orders are in!
He just looks soooooooo KONG!

Bot mode looks OK, but from what we've seen I just can't get behind that gorilla mode. Just doesn't feel like a Masterpiece to me, more like a Voyager or maybe a Leader. Perhaps the actual figure will win me over, we'll see.
I'm still going to buy it either way since it's a Masterpiece, but I wont be happy about it.

And yet, no one has answered my question: What are they supposed to do to make it look like a fully-fur-covered gorilla? - unless you are referring to some issue that I cannot glean...
Seriously, he is working with minimal mass, they would have to have an extraordinary amount of panel forming to cover all of his bot parts...
I can sympathize that those parts will stand out when molded in white plastic, but my point remains, that TT just can't do it and have him be an equitable, poseable, over-fiddly, toy

Sticking felt like materials (?) on the surface or mold the "organic" monkey part surface in a fuzzy like consistency?

Well they probably will be, these are just the wire-frame, base render, textures would have a separate layer, and the textured molding would also have a separate layer. Turning them off lets you see the model in better detail.

Nemesis Primal wrote:This is beautiful. My only complaint is that I'll have to pay import prices because Hasbro has decided to snub Beast Wars entirely.
You dont have to pay import prices, just cut the middle man and import him yourself, at most it will be the same price as Hasbro.
Hasbro MP Bluestreak was 60$
Right this very second you can buy MP Tracks for the same amount shipped, just pick the SAL shipping option: http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail ... agecnt%3D1
Common misconception but for MPs, on average, the cost of buying it from japan and shipping it to yourself is the same price if not cheaper than Hasbro will be when they reelase it 2-3 years later (oh and you dont pay tax for the import, unlike if you bought it at TRU).
So keep an eye on this thread, we will report when its available from japan for the best price possible.

Can I go with all of the above?
When I was a teenager I never really cared for the original BW toys but loved the switch to TM and TM2. I sold off my original collection with those years ago and recently got back in with my son. And he loves Beast Wars a lot more than Prime or G1 (I'm probably not going to show him original RID or the unicron trilogy).

Why would this be a bad thing? If the smaller Autobot cars can have a bunch of panel folding to hide car parts in bot mode why Can't a more iconic character like Optimus Primal have the same level of detail? Even little Deluxe Rattrap has a hidden panel in his rat head so his neck isn't exposed standing upright (the chest on the other hand...), you're telling me massive Masterpiece Primal can't hide panels in his butt to cover the hips?
Nope, I see no excuse for exposed robot parts in gorilla mode, that's just lazy engineering. And anyone that thinks the feet look OK are being ridiculously forgiving to a so-called Masterpiece figure.

So where and how would you design the panels so the figure is still articulated and cartoon accurate?
But I do think something more could have been done with the feet

If they come to their senses and decide to do it, and if they announce before TT releases (or at least before I purchase theirs), I'll consider Hasbro's version. But I'm definitely not waiting for them. Right now I've got no reason to give them the benefit of the doubt.
william-james88 wrote: than Hasbro will be when they reelase it 2-3 years later
Two or three years from now won't be a special occasion for Beast Wars, which means there's no reason to think they'd bother, so if they don't make a move this year, I'd be inclined to believe they don't intend to put it on shelves at all.
Posted by Insurgent on January 20th, 2016 @ 3:46am CST
And yeah, why couldn't it have some panels that fold down into his lower legs that cover up his thighs in beast mode? Although that would probably remove knee articulation. It must be possible to do somehow.
Hmmm. I wonder if he'll have his arm blasters in both forearms? And a deploying faceplate? He'd better have his two swords.

By your logic we shouldnt have had Generations Rhinox, Rattrap and Waspinator then since it wasnt related to an anniversary. But we did.
Here is an argument that works though:
Hasbro can always bring in an already developed figure to the Western market if they think it will make money.

It actually was an anniversary, one for the franchise as a whole, and those three fit into the existing price points rather than needing a dedicated shelf space for just the one figure.
I certainly shouldn't have dismissed it as impossible, I'll grant that, but I still believe there's reason to be pessimistic

For those of you waiting for Hasbro to release Masterpiece figures, you're really missing out. Not to mention that Hasbro's recent Masterpieces cost as much, if not more, as the Takara versions with the exception of Grimlock and the Seekers (which I guess just leaves my point with Prowl and Bluestreak).
