That's what I was thinking.

Alternate parts are not a solution, they just waste plastic and get tossed in a drawer.

Those alternate parts are always made when they make any version. At least here they are also given to you and not thrown out.

Yes, but I think they're just melted back down and recast with the rest of the sprue.

The extra parts are definitely NOT made, at least as far as I'm aware. Those parts of the sprue/mold are blocked off from the liquid plastic.

That is a rather recent idea isn't it? Although, that wouldn't really explain the odd accidental alternate head used instead of the regular one when it comes to samples.

In the case of an alternate head, I believe they basically have 2 paths through the mold/sprue that the plastic can flow, one for each head. They can gate off one head or the other based on which one is needed. It now appears that they can also leave both open and make both heads at once, which could also explain sometimes the wrong heads on samples as well.

Huh? How does it not? It just means that they had the wrong sprues blocked off instead of the intended ones. You didn't get both heads. They just had the wrong sprue train open so you end up with the alternate head instead of the intended head.

Only one that was posted online by a fan. But these toys are purchased for kids as well and they won't go online posting they got the alternate head.

Yah, exactly. They apparently caught it and changed the mold flow. It's an on/off switch. They don't make both heads at the same time.

I could've gone for the gold "goldbug" head as well, but it was blue as the toy and the cartoon. As huge of a Marvel Transformers G1 fan as I am, I had to look up the his head was miscolored in the comic. I had forgotten despite that I sell Marvel TF G1 comics on a regular basis in the Seibertron Store and the Marvel TF G1 continuity is my favorite (sans Regeneration One).

That would be tricky since it would either require another GB head in the mold or running the whole mold again just for the head (maybe if they had used the mold for someone else so they could lift the head from there). And even if they did do a second head the arms and legs wouldn't be right. Better to hope a Marvel version later.

I did think about that, but I can't be buying super multiples just to differentiate a head. At least not this year.

It's a perfect homage to the Robot/Mutant heads of old Beast Wars figures, plus with Skywasp you're getting two characters for the price of one: the Mutant Head makes the Waruder Parasite Drone, while the Robot Head makes the actual Skywasp, making a plan that originally had fallen through a reality.

A third character use for this figure would be Waspinator himself, as the deco was originally planned for the Transmetal mold in a canceled "Halloween Horrorcon" two-pack from Universe 2003, a two-pack that this figure completes updates of with Legacy Nightprowler.Jelze Bunnycat wrote:Seibertron wrote:I'm excited about getting alternate heads. Sculpt looks the same to me, but the shiny color makes the details pop a lot more. The one in the second set of images has reprolabels, mind you.

Target did eventually put all the bumblebee releases on their site, just not for pre-order, and some of them never really came in stock other than blink and you missed it. I did find some of them in stores before they were on Target's site, especially in the very beginning.

Yet not ever spotting the other multipacks in store I do question whether I'll be able to find Goldbug because it's not like you can use the store locator or pickup function for these sets and I'm too far away to pop in on a daily/weekly basis particularly now with current gas prices.

Below are images of the multiple sightings coming from TF fans ahchu, Slingshot and Hye6640 who posted their findings on the TFW2005 message baords. California has been the main place for sightings but they have been found elsewhere as well, like Ohio. These being Target exclusives means that Target is getting almost all the stock destined for US fans, so these are bound to show up at your local Targets.
