Once again Amazon brings us high quality official images of upcoming Transformers figures! This morning we have the highly anticipated Transformers Generations IDW Style Deluxe Series 4. This wave features Starscream in his new Armada styled body, Skywarp using the FOC Seeker body, Scoop with Holepunch & Tracer, and the Mini-Con Assault Team. This is the first time we've had an official name attached to the Mini-Con combiner, hopefully the bio will give names to the three individual bots. Check out the images mirrored below.

Quite fun. Double Targetmaster goodness. Out of this wave, I need him and Skywarp.

Generations Armada Starscream
Fenerations FOC Thundercracker
TF: Prime Dark Energon Starscream (as Skywarp)
As it is, I kind of wish they gave FOC Skywarp the same treatment as the Prime Dark Energon version, but what can you do.

Especially that Armada Starscream.

Also, while Starscream does look cool in his re-hashed attire, I think that was one design that didn't translate quite as beautifully in the smaller size as it does in the larger versions. Won't stop me from getting it but it's not looking quite as cool as the earlier promo shots made it appear.

It's an issue of Dark Cybertron, since Starscream will be rebuilt into this body. They probably labeled him "Armada Starscream" because that'll be the second third Starscream in the Generations line.

Hold your horses, he's coming. He's predicted to be released during the first quarter of 2014.

Actually, they seem to be based on another race of diminutive robots in the IDW comics, divided between Ammonites and Terradores. The three belong to the evil Ammonites, and thus would likely be labeled Decepticons in other lines. And this confirms Hasbro will slap "Mini-Con" on any small robot.

It never fails. I'm on the cusp of getting a thorough Minicon faction, and Hasbro steps in to further complicate matters.

Well that's intensely disappointing, as I would rather not associate the IDW/G1 version of the character with the Armada/UT version... especially when it's got "Armada" printed all over the package

Well, it's not like he's going to be renamed "Armada Starscream" post plastic (metal?) surgery.

I'm not following your logic. Small transforming robot, check. 5mm peghole with center post? check. Diamond faction logo? bingo. Its a minicon. (Or did you mean Scoop's targetmaster guys?) If anything, I think Hasbro is doing a reverse-repurposing of the figures, or something better called a generization of the figure to be whoever the heck-they want them to be. Of course IDW is gonna reuse them as Ammonites, because they'republishing a 12part Christmas Gift Catalog for Hasbro. but theseare signed up as actual Minicons because that's what they are meant to be.
And personally, I like 'em. Perceptor can go eat dirt, these guys look like they have KNEES!

Skywarp looks like ass compared to the Takara version which I already have, so they can keep it. I mean seriously, you can't tell me that this looks better...
...than this:
No use for the minicon combiner, particularly since its limbs look jacked.
That Starscream mold doesn't do anything for me at all. I don't think even a Takara paint job could save it, but we'll see I guess.

They called Cyclonus' Nightstick a Mini-Con once. 'Nuff said.

Yeah I can say I like the Hasbro Version better than takara's. Yes the paint job on Takara's better, but it dosen't look like skywarp, just a generic. The hasbro one, despite the dull gray plastic, it at least looks like skywarp.
Though my favorite Skywarp is still the original Universe one

They are similar, but you really don't have a problem with the new Screamer being smaller than the FOC deluxe?
Posted by Sabrblade on November 16th, 2013 @ 5:59pm CST
I'm genuinely surprised that they're calling him "Armada Starscream" instead of just "Starscream". I get that it might be to differentiate it from the last "Starscream" toy, but still. I'm now very curious as to what type of bio he might have, but I think it's safe to guess that it might be like Waspinator's in being an ambiguously-written bio that fits both his Armada self and that of IDW G1 Starscream as he currently is.
Fear not, my friend, for that rotor is mistransformed in these pics. It's supposed to fold in to make horizontal horns instead.Rated X wrote:Im not digging the "go go gadget copter" on the Minicons combined mode.

I never said anything about the size, just the simplicity.
Hasbro scaling down TF's is out of my control. What can I do about it? I have much more important issues in life to deal with really. (That's not a jab at anyone either, just my stance on the matter)

What about the Armada comics? Those were infinitely better than the cartoon.Gorechyld wrote:Armada Starscream...meh....I absolutely loathed Armada after the first episode.
And, this Starscream isn't exactly the Armada character, rather, it's the IDW G1 Starscream having been given a new body upgrade to go with his new position as the leader of all of Cybertron.

No one said you have to "deal with it" as in come up with a solution, but a defeatist attitude doesn't do anything, either (arguably less).

How is it a defeatist attitude? It's more prioritizing. I just have much better things to expend my time and energy on than getting upset over the size of a toy.

Armada (DW Comic) G1 Galvatron, (cause the 1st was a disappointment).
Or

I'm very surprised by Starscream's official designation of 'Armada' Starscream, and wonder if they'll be explaining that one in the fiction.
I'll probably be quite happy getting all four moulds. As always the only question will be Hasbro or Takara?

So why take the time to reply to me on a topic you don't have the time to deal with?
I'm not terribly upset. I'm not home throwing a temper tantrum. But I can be somewhat annoyed and air that grievance.

Also, I do hope that they give the Mini-cons individual names.
Posted by Sabrblade on November 17th, 2013 @ 1:50pm CST
It's just a suffix like "Freeway Jazz", "Stealth Bumblebee", "Recon Barricade", etc. to differentiate this toy from the previous Generations "Starscream" toy. It also just happens to be a double-pun that calls back to the toyline of this toy's inspiration.Sodan-1 wrote:I'm very surprised by Starscream's official designation of 'Armada' Starscream, and wonder if they'll be explaining that one in the fiction.

I like this Starscream design, too. Really like it, in fact. But the simplicity and size is bothersome to me. That's all.
Is that really beyond the pale?
