New In Package Images for Transformers Robots in Disguise 2015 toys (updated with more images)

I like the look of these, will definitely be picking up the legion figures where I can.

I still hate that green thing. It reminds me of when Hasbro used the name Grimlock in Robots in Disguise for that other green thing. I don't think I'm ever going to stop being bitter about this. Oh well, at least I'll still be able to get a lobster car Decepticon out of this toyline.

Yeah, if they don't do a repaint Grimlock in gray, will be quite disgruntled.

What happened to that really really nice looking Bumblebee that we started seeing a long time ago? Is it, like, another 1st edition deal, so it's not getting much advertisement?

I think it's more that they used the name Grimlock on a character that isn't Grimlock. If the character was Grimlock, the guy from G1/Fall of Cybertron, then that would be different, I would be fine with that even if it was green, or blue, or all grey and black with some green mossy bits. It's like if they took Scorponok and turned him into a rapper. It just doesn't suit the character at all.

No no. I mean for this new RID dino grimlock. I was okay with the old RID steam shovel one. That's how I took it as well — re-use of a name.

With the Masterpiece line, the Generations line, and the Combiner Wars line, along with whatever 3rd party things you buy, I don't think you need to worry about saving money.

the legion figures look nice but everything else looks terrible, and like many others im not digging the green grimock.

I actually find UNderbite quite the interesting one step changer. When I first saw the pics, he looked really unappealing, but now that I know he transforms in just a step, the vehicle and beat mode make mroe sense to look the way they do and the instructions marked on his box show us a new type of one step transformation I had not seen before.

The vehicle mode is particularly odd in a real interesting way:

He's there but at a different angle. And this time it's coloured plastic and not fully painted like all Hasbro Stock images are initially (and in less perfect lighting and so on).

Why are so many complaining about Grimlock being green? I didn't hear many complaints when those first pics of AOE Grimlock came out, showing him with a largely bronze color scheme.

Hmm, while I like the style of the designs, none of the figures are really doing it for me so far. I'm probably going to skip this line other than an Optimus Prime if they do a good one. More money for Combiner Wars.

Like I said, it's not so much the colour as it is the characters personality that bothers me, and in fact I rather like the AoE Grimlock.

I kinda figured they'd have scrapped the onestepers by now. Oh well, I'm just happy they brought back legion class after their absence from the movie.

The more I look at the Warriors Grimlock figure the more I'm starting to like him. I like how he looks almost spot on to how he looks in the show in both modes. Underbite and Leigon Sideswipe look good too.

Also is it just me or do both Warrior Bumblebee and Grimlock look pretty large in the packaging? Somehow they seem larger then the other Deluxe's we've been getting in the Generations line currently. If that's the case that's cool because it'll make up for not having Voyager figures of Optimus and Grimlock since their Warrior figures are almost as tall if not as tall as most modern Voyagers.

That's true. Though I still wonder that since they don't seem to be too complex I wonder if the plastic does go into their size thus making them bigger as a result.

I think it does as BH Windrazor simplified deluxe is bigger than the other deluxes in the same line.

i dont mind the green grimlock. but id like to see the "big boy toys" already.

Well not to be that guy, but the deluxe AOE toys weren't that advanced either, these Warrior class figures look to be about the same level of complexity.

they kinda were. maybe not up to the standards of previous movie toys, but not so fargone to classed with the 6+ lines.

This whole line is rather underwhelming. Simpler toys is one thing, but the character designs just aren't that inspiring. Meh.

Underbite looks interesting, but not his toy. What's he even supposed to turn into? A mess.

Well, remember when Generations was Deluxe-only? Think of it like a redux of that.

I'm not not into the little kids cartoon design, the simple transformation, the size for the price. Yeah I know blah blah blah, all have said before.

If that sideswipe was more like G1 colors, I would buy it right the way, maybe retool the head sculpt too... and that Grimlock has potential if they repaint it as G1.

Whoa. If they did a repaint of Sideswipe like THAT I would buy the +!#$ out of it! Amazing that a paint change could make me hate a figure, then make me want the same figure.

Anyway, the simpler transformations don't bother me at all. I enjoy G1 well enough, I enjoy legion/legends class toys, I enjoy mini-cons, so there's no reason for me to hate on simpler transformations. Yeah there's obviously differences between G1 Transformers and current Transformers, and size differences between Legion/Legends, Mini-Cons, and deluxe transformers, but it still doesn't bother me, and the ones that DO bother me I'm not gonna be getting anyway WHYDIDTHEYDOTHISTOGRIMLOCK!?!! sorry, I dunno where that came from.

what do you mean? I personally wish they could continue the existing line they started years ago, I dont think I will buy that new show, but I could get some g1 repaints, just my opinion

Haha! What a great post! I recently got into G1 and I totally see where you are coming from. The G1 toys have simplified transformations but look great in their own way. What I find hurts these toys most is the lack of posability. Take any of the G1 Predacons for instance. I love each of their transformations and most look great as robots and they all look great in beast mode, but when it comes to playing with them or posing them, things get very limited quickly due to the lack of articulation (especially on the arms). The legs are stuck together too for some of them (my main problem with G1 wheeljack). Here we have new interpretations of characters (with the FOC, MP, Animated and Target exclusive G1 FOC Grimlock molds, I have enough reinterpretations of G1 Grimlock, so I really don't mind this new one) with simpler transformations, sure, but unlike G1 they will have more posability and none of their limbs will be stuck together. So it sounds ok.

As I was writing this post I was realizing how amazing it would be if Hasbro just retooled all their G1 molds with better posability and released them. They would still have the simplified transformers they seem to be going for, and every fan would buy them. It would be the best thing ever (pretty much, it would be the entire G1 line given the same treatment as Generations Scoop). Oh man, now I dont care as much about RID 2.0 anymore.

Eh, so far I'm only going to get Strongarm, because I like collecting fembots. I'll wait to see what any of the Warrior class Decepticons look like, but so far this has been a big pass for me. Drift kind of looks interesting, but I'll only pick it up if they do it up in a Bludgeon deco.

The lack of decent articulation on these guys has me worried. I mean, the one-step things are bad enough, but Hasbro had better realize that kids want a toy that is fun to play with in both modes, not in between.

Not gonna post the RID 2001 Grimlock since it's already been posted and goes without saying.

@willam about g1 toy molds. They would have to re make a lot of the molds, a lot have broken (and probably chucked) over the years.

I for one like the new Grimlock design. It's different but it's cool.

The toys on the other hand are very disappointing. I kinda feel like they're treating kids like idiots, as if they're too stupid to handle more than 10 steps in a transformation or that much articulation. I mean sure, have simpler stuff available too, but don't deprive them of any level of complexity! My first ever Transformer was RID Side Burn, who I eventally learned to transform by heart. I mean sure, not every toy has to be ROTF Optimus Prime, but they don't have to starve children's brains!

What makes it worse is that even by autotransforming figures the one-step changers are just awful. Fused legs, single-axis arms and basically no poseability. Heck, I know they can do better- the Animated Activators were decent autotransforming toys with good poseability and that was 2008! Simplicity doesn't have to mean crudeness. Look at some of the molds from Energon, Cybertron and Animated- very simple transformations and pretty solid construction but a lot of poseability and a lot of fun to play with.

I think we need to start some kind of petition to Hasbro to recognize kids' rights to a stimulating toy.
