Goofy crab claw aside, that was a decent rendition of the character.

Very tempted to get one, with the G1 Leader Ironhide (mediocre mold but the paint makes it good enough).
I wish Voyager Shockwave's head was a bit bigger, but I'll slap it on that Megatron anyway. He soooo looks like Shockwave.
Why didn't Takara just upscale the hell out of DOTM Voyager Megatron? I mean, they did it with deluxe WFC Soundwave, and I really like Voyager DOTM Megz.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe someone at Hasbro thinks villains don't sell so well, however true or false that may be.
I'd be almost as happy if they'd release a DMK DOTM Megs. A non-transforming figure would be able to capture all of his CG render's rusty, rugged detail. I know many don't like the irony of non-transforming TF figures, but in the case of Bayverse designs, it's excusable due to all the details and added accuracy you get from it.
Shockwave would make the perfect DMK, though, since he doesn't even transform in DOTM.

Because they're both cheap-asses?

ha! if someone at Hasbro thinks villains don't sell well, they should have a word with the guys in the GI Joe and Star Wars departments, and ask for numbers on Vipers and Storm Troopers.

It's an absolute mystery to me why Hasbro thinks like that.
It's not even "traditional" marketing, because villains have always been cooler than the good guys. I'll bet dollars to doughnut holes that Vader gets at least twice the amount of figures and merchandise made compared to Luke Skywalker. Even as a kid, I've always favored the G1 Decepticons like Megatron, Soundwave and Starscream over the Autobots.
I'm not saying kids will choose Megatron over Optimus, but villains (the cool ones, at least) can and do sometimes outsell the good guys as toys.
And someone please knock Bumblebee off of Leader Class and give it back to Megatron!

I don't know why Hasbro doesn't understand that. They're called action figures for a reason. The good guy needs a bad guy to fight. When I was a kid I always wanted the lead good guy and the lead bad guy. Not the lead good guy and his sidekick.

Of course, I always wanted a team, but if they'd stop short-packing the 'cons, maybe they'd get more money from kids and adults alike.
That's why I'm glad Wave 3, 4 & 5 of Prime and Wave 2 of FoC Generations are mostly (or entirely, in FoC W2's case) Decepticons. But of course, they have to be sheepish in distributing those waves.

My thoughts exactly.
You can't play-fight with your figs if there's no enemy. What's the kid gonna do, sit OP and Bee down on a table and have tea?
And let's not forget that Bee's way out of scale as a leader class toy. I know scale is almost an afterthought as far as TF's are concerned, but at least keep him in relative scale, for Pete's sake.

I do not favor the thought of the same character being released in 3 different scales. That's why I don't collect legion classes. I like characters to have one toy of one character in one class, and it better be in the right class. I also don't like "Shadow Strike" and "Nightwatch" and "Super Thingamabob" titles for the same damn character. If you're going to make a repaint, at least named it something different. Or retool it.
But of course, they gave all of this up around Cybertron. Granted, the legion class of Cybertron was rather small. The movies ruined everything for us.

Agreed. I'm probably one of the few adult collectors who actually likes movieverse Bee, but I've never bought any "non-canon" version of Bee. Ever. To me, it's just a lazy way of milking a mold.
At least in G1, the repaints are actually their own characters.

Well, what goes down (hopefully) must eventually come up again. Until then, though, I'll stick to MP's and what few choice morsels might pop up in the Generations line like WFC Starscream and voyager Grimlock.

I don't like Leader Classes anyway. DOTM Sentinel Prime was and will always be my last Leader Class.

To be honest, the only leader class toy I truly treasure is the ROTF LC Optimus mold. But then, he was designed by one of the Takara guys who does Masterpiece figs, which is probably why he looks as screen-accurate as he does.
I like HFTD LC Starscream too, and I'd like him a whole lot more if his alt mode wasn't bloated from all those batteries, voice chips and speakers.

I just find LCs to complicated in terms of transformation (yeah, I said that. Every LC figure I've gotten since Movie1 Megs proves that). Even though the new Weaponizers have simple transforms, the gimmick sacrifices a lot for me.
And thanks.

I know where you're coming from. Most of the time, I can't transform a modern TF without the instructions sheet. But DOTM Ironhide seems to be pretty simple; I don;t have the fig, but that's what everyone says. ROTF Megs, too. He's probably the simplest LC there is, next to Ironhide.
As for the Weaponizers, I'd rather they be more complex than deal with the sacrifices they made to the figs. Bee had faux wheels on his forearms, and OP shouldn't have fake chest plates as an LC toy.
And they're not cheap, either.

For me, Megatron was a pain. I know, stupid right? But mine has some sort of defect. Whilst transforming him, I managed to break his arm off. I was able to get it back on, but I tried transforming him 10 more times, and I couldn't do it without the arm slipping off. Not to mention the fact that the lights and sounds activate when I lightly touch him....anywhere.

But if you mean the arm cannon, yeah, it's annoying. Damn thing makes a blasting noise every fricking time I move the arm around. In fact, that stupid thing is the reason he doesn't have an elbow; to accommodate the wire.
You know, ROTF Megs is actually a decent representation of he CG model if not for the arms--hulking proportions, accurate head-sculpt. I've seen some kitbashers who made him look awesome with customized arms.

You know how you move his arm and it makes some sort of bashing sound? Yep, don't have to touch him for that to happen.
Also 'I am Megatron!' keeps playing whenever I place my finger on his chest.
I have nothing against the figure itself. I just don't like him, and he's in a box with a bunch of other Transformers that I didn't get a chance to get out from the great move 2 years ago. Let him annoy them.
Same thing with Movie 1 Prime and his sounds.
Sabrblade wrote:What about the Cybertron Leader class figures? Or the Animated ones?
The Cybertron leaders are fine. I never got around to buying a Leader Animated figure. (although I saw Megatron and Ultra Magnus plenty of times).

LOL! Yeah, sound gimmicks are a pain even when they work like they're supposed to.
It doesn't get worse than having to hear Tom "Spongebob" Kenny do his horrendous imitation of Cris Latta's Starscream whenever I accidentally touch the button in alt mode.
As a general rule, all the batteries of LC figs come off within a week of purchase.
Sabrblade wrote:What about the Cybertron Leader class figures? Or the Animated ones?
I'm still kicking myself for not buying Galaxy Convoy when I had the chance. One of the best Primes ever produced.

I have MP-05 along with the rest of the mp line and megatron isn't that hard or a fragile as everyone claims. One of the main reasons I love TF toys is because they are like puzzles and I want more intricate transformations. I wasn't to fond of the ROTF figures but some of them you actually had to think about to transform them. I like looking for the tabs and slots on the figures the human alliance line has good transformations and deluxe ROTF skids and mudflap along with sideways had pretty good transformations to and I'm talking about putting them into alt mode because robot mode is a lot easier to do. I think I'm gonna start doing timed transformation videos on YouTube lol.
