Ditto, not a fan of the metallic paint either.

I already have henkei Megs, so that's a pass, and I don't love the WFC Megs, so I'm import free on this set!
But yeah, Cliffy looks a bit too feminine for some reason.

You sure? *Compares his Henkei Megs with United Megs* Nope, I'm not seeing things. Megatron has not only lost the chrome, but a lot of paint apps as well.
Bumblebee is just perfect: no chrome, no stripes, just plain yellow. Actually makes me glad I missed out on him. The rest I'll just skip and get the Hasbro versions instead. By the by, would the use of the Deluxe mold for Optimus Prime be a sign that the Voyager mold has degraded beyond use?

I quite like the look of Cliffjumper, he's a bit on the thin side but the head looks nice.
I think you may well be right about Optimus, it would certainly explain why Takara Tomy haven't released Ultra Magnus, Nemesis Prime or Sleep mode Prime.

Also I think the henkei version of Megatron is still the best use of that mold.

I said "Voyager". The Deluxe one is a tank, inspired by G2.

Agreed on United/Henkei Megs. Too many missing paint apps, but still a good option for those who missed out on Henkei. I might pick up United WFC Megs if comparison shots turn out to be highly favorable. The rest I'll probably pass on, although Soundwave looks tempting.
I don't think this means the Classics Voyager mold is unusable, because the Seeker mold is still in use. This may just be a sign that the Prime & Bee listings at Walmart are in fact rereleases of the deluxes.

The re-issue of BB is great news for me. I missed out on the entire line, so BB will be a buy on sight. I'm not too pumped for Prime though. I really like his bot mode. But I wish they had re-issued Voyager Prime instead. IMO that Prime has a much better Alt-Mode and fits in better size-wise.

Straxus wasn't a toy I was overly worried about (if they gave me his head in a jar, as an accessory, I'd love it though) so I can't say I notice much difference. Classics BB is pretty nice, still has silver bumpers, but it's G1 enough colours that I could theoretically be tempted to buy the mold again. Classics Deluxe Prime is pretty cool in those colours too, but I have the first version and can't say I'm overly eager to spend more money on it again (I don't hate it though). Drift looks the same to me.

What's with the western hatred towars metallic paint? Personally, I think it brings out a more in-depth and realistic feel to the metal these characters would don. To each his own in the end but I still don't understand it.

Hahaha, I think a sneer or frown would've toughened up his appearance a little, making him look a wee bit more masculine.
Don't get me wrong; I think he looks GREAT! Too bad the US version won't be so shiny (bummer!).
Posted by Jenus on September 22nd, 2010 @ 10:50am CDT
All the WFC figures look good, but again why do the keep on insisting to give the figures the silver faction symbol and it's always the Decepticon.
Voyager Megatron sure has lost a lot of paint apps, he'll definitely be a pass.
Drift doesn't look to have any changes, wonder where the shiny is?
Darkmount doesn't look much different either, he should have been a darker blue.
Deluxe Prime actually looks good but I've already told myself no to that mold.
Bumblebee's rerelease looks pretty good I may have to buy him again. Now Takara make cliffjumper and a new head would be great.

The Seeker mold is a special case since there's not one, but two main versions of it. Here's a breakdown:
Version 1:
- Classics Skywarp to Acid Storm
- Generations Thrust & Dirge
- Gentei Ghost Starscream
Version 2:
- Most Henkei and Gentei releases
- Universe 2.0 Starscream
Version 2 is the more "degraded" one, despite it being newer.

I'm not sure, but they might still be the Hasbro versions (Drift and Straxus, that is) as I can't find a difference between those pics and the Hasbro version.

Not too fussed about the rest of the WFC figures as I'm not a fan of the designs, although I may have to get Cliffjumper just to see what the head looks like on his Classics self.
The re-release Bumblebee and Optimus are passes but I am intrigued by that Megatron. Always felt there was too much red on the Henkei one.
And unless there's a difference in the two Generations figures that we can't see, they're passes also.
Still, all are awesome figures and it gives me hope for a further remolded Blurr. Maybe.

Look at the figures: no chrome. Conclusion: no chrome for United.

Ah, that changes it. One thing though: the green "Ultimate Battle" has its feet misassembled, but the Special Edition corrected it.

Really? Why did they make a second version when the sculpt of the toy is the same between the non-conehead seekers and the Henkei releases?
On topic, I've already noticed some extra paint apps on Takara's Soundwave. Purple detailing on the head and some silver outlining on the lower legs, there may be more. Depending on pricing I will probably be picking him up.

All the other figures have shiny paint not present in the Hasbro releases, whereas Drift and Straxus do not. I think they are just place holders for the moment.

like a KO version of the original or something, missing paint apps on the cannon, shoulder, waist, no chrome. what a piece of crap.
CJ looks good, nothing here warrants importing in my opinion though
you can mark me amongst the north american haters of metallic paint.

Cliffjumper looks great.
I think I actually prefer the United Megatron over the Henkei, based on photos. I never liked the chrome on the chest. Anywhere else and it wouldn't have bothered me that much. But on the other hand, the unpainted Decepticon symbol on the United version's cannon bugs me, and makes me think there could be a few more paint apps added. I've never bought from Takara before...would they really leave a faction symbol unpainted?

WFC Megs on the other hand, well I'm not sure if it's the camera angle but his chest seems to be black(?) but his pelvis area is colored black to best reflect/homage the classic archetype from the 80's. Very Nice! The bucket helmet on the other hand, is it also painted?

I think it's only dark grey.

Wonder what his pack-in comic will be like, if there is one.
