Seibertron.com member Real Devastator has found new photos of the upcoming Takara Tomy remold of Transformers Revenge of The Fallen Leader Class Optimus Prime figure named "Buster Optimus Prime".

These photos show us the more Movie accurate paint scheme and the details they highlight. They also give us a good look at his new head which seems to confirm that he does not have a retractable face-mask and comes with a new blaster.

WOW

That thing is beeeeeautiful. I wish it had the face plate (maybe it does and it's totally removable). I'm on the fence about getting it only b/c money is tight. My wife just had our second child (another boy to indoctrinate in the ways of TFs and GI Joes!) so money is on the tight side. Regardless, I'm liking the paint job.

Again, WOW. Nice job Takara! :APPLAUSE:

Almost perfect, still not digging the face. Maybe they should have given him a more expressive face.

I have preorded it, but i am wary because it has no faceplate, and as much of a fan of the new premium paint scheme and the removable gun... the face plate is a problem for me.

I think he needs to have a removable face shield..

this will be a nice piece to pick up, but we need a 3rd party to do a face shield that snaps on to the face, or I suppose Takara Tomy may reissue a variant with a face shield..

either way, an open face version is not what I wanted most..

that news comes as a depressing blow to an almost perfect action figure of Movie Optimus Prime..

Why? Why do they have to come so close and then ruin it all by not going to the hilt.. it just doesn't make sense.. and I refuse to buy another figure just to mod it and switch heads..we shouldn't have to do that.. nope, no sir.. that blows..

so Now I love and at the same time hate this figure..

Maybe i-gear, fan project or someone else will see this as business opportunity, make a face plate for prime. Or change the whole head.... :-?

Not buying unless he has a faceplate.

That is so sick, so awesome, it is a huge must buy. Faceplate or no faceplate, that paintjob is amazing and totally make him worth owning. And even if Hasbro releases a preimum which they almost certaily will, I doubt it'll be able to touch this.

BBTS, please post a preorder soon.

You sir, have my respect. Why is everyone making a big deal that he doesn't have a faceplate? Big whoop. I for one have awaited this version of Prime for a LONG time. Kinda sad, however, you people won't get it because it has a mouth. Oh well, more for me! Be this my first ever Transformers figure courtesy of Takara. You know what I say? Bring it on!

i agree with the above post
all those who are complaining about a freakin mouth plate.......get over yourselves.
ya sure it would be nice to see a removable one but during the whole movie you rarely see him with it on.
i think it's a fresh new look for prime and i can say that proud as i'm an optimus prime collector.

now...i've looked on BBTS but i can't find the pre-order page. can someone direct me to a link or an address where i can place my pre-order? this fig is well worth it as it's spot on movie accurate.

I like the shiny silver parts but im not really thrilled of buying another ROTF Prime so I may simply get the aluminium paint out and do it myself.

Honestly, I don't think that anyone can take issue with those who do not want this figure because of the faceplate.. I am buying this figure myself.. but while I am purchasing it at a cost higher then I would normally pay for a Leader Class, the fact that they get so close to perfection and then not follow through with a simple little thing like a face plate, frustrates me as a collector and pisses me off.. well that is my preference.. and others as well.. to belittle that want or consumer need simply because you think that this figure is worth the cost for the paint scheme.. seems flawed and self righteous..

if I am going to pay close to 100.00 to import a frigging toy that is Leader Class and is at the price point of a Masterpiece figure.. well it damn sure better include a missing mouthpiece..to be perfect.. but as of right now, there are no reports that it will contain a mouth piece addition to the figure.. so as of right now, in my opinion, it is not as great as it could be.. and that is MY OPINION.. and should not be attacked for my Opinion and accused as being self righteous, and told to "Get over Myself."

I would expect better manners from a fellow fan, and to respect others opinions, how ever different from yours they are.. Who are you to presume to tell anyone to get over themselves??

Cos they would be making more of it then Takara who have a smaller production run.

I seriously love this toy, I've been waiting 2 effing years to get a Movie Prime with a gad damned mouth, as I kinda like his mugg. :D

The eyes just don't seem right to me. I like the non faceplate look but would it really be that hard to have a retractable one?

The paint scheme is beautiful though. Could always swap heads.

love how it looks! i do wish it had a faceplate but it isnt bad to have a movie prime without one since thats how he appears most of the time.
my main concern is how he sound? im assuming there wont be a peter cullen voice chip in a takara release so im hoping like crazy this sees a domestic release.

dude it's a freakin toy
calm the freak down
do you get out much at all?
didn't realize you were so anal about these sorta things.
if i was buying a car or a house i'd be picky about details but for a toy? big woop, if you don't like it...then you don't like it. i wasn't saying that your opinion didn't count. i was just merely saying (not just to you), but be thankful for what we're getting cuz it's damn nice. I, for one, can live without the faceplate. Yes it would be wicked if it were retractable or something but i'm happy with what i see. You might not like it and well...that's YOUR OPINION....you don't have to buy it if you don't want to---again that's your opinion.

next time don't talk to me about manners as we're not here to asses one's mannerism.

oh and to comment on the simplicity of adding a faceplate.....it's not that simple when you have electronics built into the head. working in product design has shown me wonders of the "can do" vs "can't do" world. but that's assuming the electronics (ie LED bulbs, wires, etc) are still in the head sculpt.

k now let's move on and end this nonsense bickering.

does anyone know if jetfire will get a premium treatment too? he would look totally awesome combined with prime.

Sweet mother of god, that thing is beautiful!  I can see why some might be complaining about the face, it can be hard to make out the mouth on the face. If I get it, I might go over the mouth with a black gundam marker to make it stand out more. Would someone please be kind enough to post a link to where ever we can pre-order this bad ass! I can finaly leave my first prime in it's alt mode, it is a bitch to transform!

Nothing a few paint aps can't solve.. No way I'd pay takara prices for ANOTHER ROTF prime when really all they did was remove the face plate and add a gun.. I've seen custom paint jobs on Prime way better than that.. Pass..

The transformation is a bitch :P But its good that its so complicated. I plan to repaint my other one as to make a better Jet Prime and both will probablt stay in robot mode for the rest of their existence. I have the first movie Prime for alt mode heh

I'm kinda glad it has no face plate as I'll probably pass and that helps make it a lot easier to do so...because the paint jobs is fantastic and the gun is pretty cool so it sucks that they didn't just do it that way from the word go. But at least it has the lame movie mouth...

Ummm yeah I get out a lot, so now what does that comment imply? It wasn't the toy that made me upset, it was the statement "All those complaining about the faceplate should get over themselves.." that comment I felt included me.. and I was offended..

mesh wrote:didn't realize you were so anal about these sorta things.

can't we have a disagreement without you trying to somehow insinuate something about me..

Dude, I am not angry, and wasn't earlier.. just felt like that comment was all encompassing and as a fan of the character of Optimus Prime and the action figure, I felt like I was within my right to complain about the face mask missing..

mesh wrote:if i was buying a car or a house i'd be picky about details but for a toy? big woop, if you don't like it...then you don't like it. i wasn't saying that your opinion didn't count. i was just merely saying (not just to you), but be thankful for what we're getting cuz it's damn nice. this isn't a site devoted to cars, or houses.. and we buy these figures with income that is outside of our normal means, which makes what we decide to buy that much more of a luxury then anything else, which trumps the car which is a need or the house which is a necessity..you are right it is my opinion..and the point of a message board is to express your opinions, but to make some off hand statement that generally demeans others who don't like something and basically place them as over reactionary is silly.. this is a site about toys, we all know that, but we can also be passionate about them since in the end we are all spending money we could be spending else where..

i too am happy with what I see in this figure.. but I still wish a mouth plate was made for it..they have one for Sideswipe that detaches from the face, like it is held on there by some molded wedging I suppose..

mesh wrote:next time don't talk to me about manners as we're not here to asses one's mannerism.

I don't think I could convince you that your mannerism was wrong even if we were in some kind of etiquette forum.. You clearly don't like being called on your attitude, and are unable to atleast have some kind of reasonable apology..

let me be the first.. if I offended you with anything I said earlier, I am sorry..

Not so, as I stated earlier, it can be done, with a removable mouth plate like they did with Human Alliance Sideswipe..I'm not sure if he has lights and wires in his noggin, I thought it was on a ball joint, and maybe the head was clear for light pipping from the bulb in the chest.. but I am not sure, i haven't yet purchased the original figure..

it is not nonsense.. I don't get offended or a little ticked off over nothing..but whatever..I can move on, all I was seeking was maybe a bit less arrogance in your statement, and maybe an admission that you might have overstated your comment.( I now know you think you are incapable of being wrong)..If you concede that we are all entitled to an opinion, then why knock those who dislike the face and want a faceplate in the first place?

trying to get this point across seems pointless as this response you left shows just how you see your actions... I don't need an enemy, and I value friends on here that share the same view and interest..

So again, I will be a big man, and apologize if anything I said has offended you..

You like Transformers, so you are Okay in my book..but the next time you make a general statement about other people, and some one takes you to task, or even expresses a bit of angst as I did, how about instead of coming off jerky in response, you just show a smidgen of humility?

I bet that Hasbro does one, and it will look great with this figure..

It's Cool Dev, I was just showing the track that led to the comment in the first place.. no worries bro! :D

If I get it, I might go over the mouth with a black gundam marker to make it stand out more. Would someone please be kind enough to post a link to where ever we can pre-order this bad ass! I can finaly leave my first prime in it's alt mode, it is a bitch to transform!

as you wish my friend!

LOL, I know the drill.. same here..

I suppose we can hold out hope for a premium Movie Prime from Hasbro, the Problem is that Takara Tomy has set a high Bar in terms of the repaint and detail.. the pin stripping of the flames, etc.. I hope they decide to import the japanese version, and replace the open face with the closed one, just repainted movie accurate.. then it will be worth it to get a US premium Prime..I would love to see a comparison once they do release a US version and see how Hasbro matches up..

I hope the new Buster prime has some gold accent additions to the paint scheme in the final version..that seems to be missing from the legs and chest in certain spots..

this is a nice piece, but far from what i would call a masterpiece.. Takara Tomy missed the boat on a few little minor details..

1. a Removable face mask
2. Golden accents on the inner legs, disks and such
3. chrome plated gas tanks
4. chrome plated (non bendy) smoke stacks..

other then that it looks great!
