Snarkas Blog found these images on a Toysrus Hong Kong site announcing a preorder for $999 HKD (which is $128 USD). This preorder gives hint that the toy is coming soon, or at least before the others. We also have the product code (C186) which tells us that it should be coming when, or even before, Wave 5 hits if they're released in sequence. We also learn that it is a Toysrus Exclusive worldwide (we only knew that was the case for Canada and the US before). The images also show us new information, like the fact that Fast Lane is now called Fast Clash.
Let us know if you will get this set!

And I guess we know why they didn't call RiD Sideswipe Fastlane now; they really wanted to avoid calling him that awful name. 'Fastclash'
On a more positive note, that is some beautiful box art.
And this is downright adorable.

I swear if rodimus's face is stickered I will melt down the diecast and drink it.

Actually, that is the domestic release you see there. This isn't Takara's version or anything - I doubt they'll release anything from this boxset aside from Fastlane and maybe Rodimus - this is what we're getting in the US, UK etc.

*Rodimus hanging onto Optimus' back for dear life.
*The part of Optimus' back that Rodimus is holding onto doesn't, strictly speaking, exist.
*They want to make sure that everyone has their robot mode shown off, except that Quickswitch's robot mode apparently doesn't matter.
*They appear to be in a hurry, but everyone except for Rodimus is in possibly the slowest mode they could be in.
*Narutoptimus and Fasthurdler
*Velocitron is apparently the Death Star trench.
In all seriousness I love this art, both despite and because of these quirks. I really hope that the thing advertised at the top left is a poster rather than a card.

I thought it was a race track (which further begs the question of why they're all mostly running instead of driving).Diem wrote:*Velocitron is apparently the Death Star trench.

Not Laser Optimus Prime, or Optimus Prime, just Laser Prime. And he doesn't actually come with a "freakin' lazor" ...
Rodimus Knight wrote:Who wants to bet that the domestic release here Rodimus won't be that well painted either. Probably the standard two color plastic in robot mode.
Considering he's all diecast, at worst he'd be unpainted metal, not plastic. But no this is technically what he should look like in North America as well.
It's actually a selling point of the box set next to Fastlane.

Oddly enough the ONLY mention of that is in the 1988 toy commercial, yet I too remember it to this day. I wonder if IDW will introduce the character into the comic at all, or make any reference to the "relationship". I still think it should have been Greatshot, not Quickswitch as that molds 2nd use...but oh well.

Commercials have to be canon, otherwise we open up the risk that Bruticus might NOT be a big bad battlin' dude-icus.

I think it's only been confirmed for this set. Which is sad, b/c it'd be awesome to pick-up a two pack of both of the sets of clones.

Oh, thanks, for pointing that out. My brother wants me to call that OP "Lasor Prime" because I created a character (in fac-fic). That throws my whole argument out the window.

Maybe because they're so little they might pack all four together...

Kurona wrote:There's always hope that Takara will release the clones in 2-packs. Heck, I'm almost certain they'll do that.

either way I think would be a strong case for fans of the clones to go that route, of course after import fees most 3P prices might be 2/3 the price of one of the Hasbro Box Sets, then again paying $200 for two toys (or $400 for 4 once the other two are revealed) (and trying to sell the other eight/ sixteen on eBay), vs say...$60 for a set of clones from Takara...I guess its a matter of convenience, vs price, vs time/hassle etc....
Again I agree the box art looks really cool, but unlike the CW box sets that had an obvious theme, this is just a mish-mash of random characters, *if* the CW box sets supposedly did not sell well, I cant wait to see when these start popping up at market 6 etc... In fact that might be my strategy since I too only want one toy from each of these sets...just wait until they show up at a TJ Maxx (or similar store) for $40, or until HTS does there fire sale, and if this never happens, oh well no big loss. The two I want from those sets are not that big a deal.

That is my main problem. It's not even like they're going for a loose theme; like some random background Lost Lighters or some G2-coloured random characters or even just a specific year. These are all characters and designs which have absolutely nothing to do with each other

That's ok...they could make a great fiction out of it. One of the Autobot Clones is lost, and wants to find his brother, along the way he finds Laser Optimus, Rodimus' Head, Quickswitch, and Nautica to help him...Kind of like some odd twist on The Wizard of Oz....yeah...I think it could work

william-james88 wrote:Anyone know why Hasbro went with painting the entire detachable front part of TR Brainstorm rather than just using teal plastic? I dont mind, but if it means paint elsewhere on the figure was sacrificed, I would rather a uniform coloured part be just the plastic colour.
I would speculate that it's a side effect of the fact that he's made of more colours of plastic that Blurr is - and the part layout meant he needed to be paint.
It is odd when that happens isn't it - It's something I've always regretted when I've seen it. I was just thinking the other day that if they'd be clever they could have put a different connection in the leg so he had two wings on a frame or perhaps just leave the wing in the leg off and give him parts that clip on to the rectangular slots in his back where the wing was.

Anyway, jokes aside, here's my thoughts on the rest of the boxset...
Prime: Would be awesome if that detail was tampographed on instead of being stickers. There is no way those stickers aren't going to be shredded by transformation.
Quickswitch: Quickswitch's main appeal is that most of his modes were actually different from Sixshot's (namely the drill tank mode) so this is a complete failure in my opinion.
Nautica: Having gotten Megatronia and loved her I'm a bit less pessimistic about her, but that face is still awful and I still wish it actually looked like Nautica, as opposed to crossdressing Blurr.
Rodimus: He's made of metal, which is awesome, but I'm not sure he's really enough to sell the set.
So yeah. Maybe not.

I was overly excited for that Laser Prime, then I realized that the trailer is just part of the mold.
Still good.
No cares about Quickswitch. Nautica looks very purple, would've liked to see some more female forms remolded parts.
Also like the artwork, I agree with you peoples on the whole these characters don't match.
And what's about a Decepticon set? I haven't seen anything about that.

Fastclash is a new name for Fastlane; the Autobot Clone from 1987. He had like, a two-second cameo in Rebirth so he's not the most memorable dude

It's a (surprisingly accurate) modernization of a 1987 Autobot, Fastlane.
No cares about Quickswitch.
And what's about a Decepticon set? I haven't seen anything about that.
It will be a BBTS exclusive, featuring Metalhawk (from Triggerhappy), Magnus Prime (a minor repaint of Legends Super Ginrai), Armada Tidal Wave (from Broadside), Pounce (an original mold, updating another 1987 TF) and the head of Thunderwing.

The other set revealed at Toy fair is called Siege on Cybertron and contains: (Magnus Prime, Metalhawk, Pounce, Thunderwing's head, and Tidal Wave)
Supposeddly there will be two additional Box Sets revealed at a later time

ebo716 wrote:If we did get more titan minions, the rewind/rumble mold could be used for slammer with the tablet mode being used as a tower
I noticed that too Rewind does bare a remarkable resemblance to Slammer.
Perhaps there is a Boxed set Character idea in there somewhere - I still think the only way we will get Steeljaw is in a boxed set due to their reluctance to use an Autobot Steeljaw in the main line to avoid confusion with RID's Decepticon Steeljaw.
If they pop in the like of Rosanna into a boxed set that would be a good idea - I wouldn't mind if they keep making tablets/Data Pads especially if they give them Dinosaur alt modes for 2018.
I'd not mind at all if one of the giftsets they did was Soundblaster and one was Twincast either - as if they brand it for Prime Wars 3.0 then there is no real clash with the Titanmaster names as they are then the "replacements" to the previous line and maybe - just maybe they can squirrel a Ratbat toy in there someplace too.
I won't hold my breath for the obscure ideas though like a Scorpion or Crocodile data-Pad. (Though i'd also have liked a Crocodile Titanmaster-accessory too)
Remember how whenever they made Movie giftsets they were always the same thing (Characters) in slightly different colours - the advantage of the Data-pads is they can repaint them & make them different characters for example if they did do a Ratbat that could also be Skar or Wingthing,
Ravage can also be Catgut, Howlback, Glit.
Laserbeak could be Sundor, Garboil, Cro, Sights, Rav, Screech or Gangetsu,
Stripes could be Angela, Lioniser & Steeljaw.
And so on for all the others... ( I didn't want to list all the possibilities or we'd be here all night)

Also he and his brother managed to search the entirety of Cybertron for an object no larger than his fist during a pitched battle, so, y'know, kudos there.

I get the impression Takara has the ability to set themselves up for some really cool gift sets.
For example they have no reason NOT to release Steeljaw in some way or other since it's technically different to Ravage - they have shown in the past an interest in release the same mould in pairs.
So perhaps when the time is right there will be a pair of clone gift packs and perhaps also Rewind & Eject & Rumble & Frenzy too.
Shame there isn't a Ramhorn data pad to offer the full effect.
