From the images we get to see clearly the new addition of weapon accessories for Ironhide as well as changes on the Topkick.
Fortunately the changes on Ironhide are all highlighted in white plastics.

Design issues. I have the RotF version. I'm not a fan of how the chest is composed of loose components(front halves of the truck, the flip up chest piece) and the torso is kind of empty. The feet have no articulation and aren't able to lock in place when flipped out so they aren't very stable. I can pose the figure but not in the best stances so I usually have Ironhide in alt mode because I think he looks better as a truck.

Can you say prototype? Probably cast in that gray plastic instead of the translucent plastic it has in those sections.
I don't think it'll matter if the final figure has translucent plastic because I thought Hasbro plans on painting the windowshield over. However, one could always remove the paint with something like isopropyl alcohol if they want.

To each his own I guess, I particularly like the bouncy chest and shoulder pads. As for the feet, yes they don't really lock in place.

I wasn't aware of that, and considering all versions of the mold thus far have had the translucent wind shield and windows, I find it an odd move in Hasbro's part to now paint them over.

I believe the final version paint job will make the figure looks better. Not sure about the zebra deco though....

GenZhao at the kotoys thread said that the windshield is supposed to be painted blue. I hope it's a mistake. I like tranluscent windows.
Razorclaw0000 wrote:This can't come out soon enough. I love the weaponry. I just hope he can carry it all in bot mode, in holsters and the like. It looks like all slots into vehicle mode, which is awesome. That was my biggest complaint about Animated: all the weaponry that had no where to go, like the Dinobot's weapons, Prowl's traffic light, etc.
He can carry them all in bot mode but they peg into various points on the body, including the back panel/truck roof. It's really cool. A whole bunch of photos are in the kotoys thread showing off different weapon placements.
I totally agree about the weapons in the TFA toys. At least Swoop's spiked ball and chain weapon could peg into his feet.
I'm considering trying to find the cannons from the 2007 Voyager Ironhide to at least "complete" my RotF Ironhide. If I can get those cannons, I think I may pick up JA Ironhide and truly laden it down with firepower. He'll be a mobile weapons platform.

You could paint him in Dalmatian-cammo and I'd still want to buy him. Okay, maybe not that, but you know what I mean....
The hunting knife thingie seems kind of like an anachronism for a TF, though. Homage to John Rambo, perhaps?

Exactly! Why can't they do one in red? they've redone every other movie character into G1-ish colors, why not Ironhide?
I agree I like the additional weapons, and I may pick him up if he goes on clearance.

Atleast attempt to make a new color layout. All they did was take the old mold, put silver streaks across it and added a couple weapons, and then turned them brown.
(Oh and yea, there's some reinforced windows and a rollcage on the bed, plus he has a sword and retooled wapons.)
That's about it. Unless you don't have one of these already, it doesn't make sense to get it.

You do realize that's not the finished design, right? Notice the roof and windshield are just unpainted white/gray plastic.

EDIT- is that the newer ROTF head, or is it yet another new one? Note too the step-hoops under the doors, those are new too right?

It looks like the same head sculpt that my RotF Voyager Ironhide has.
Now I feel like watching First Blood again and maybe Rambo 2 and 3, though First Blood isn't so much an action movie as it's a thriller and commentary on the after affects of war on soldiers and the fallout from Vietnam.

I know it was a joke.

It would be nice if it had an actual army pattern.

No. Way.
THAT IS AWESOME!!! I HAVE TO GET IT AND ALL REPAINTS OF IT IF THEY MAKE A G1 IRONHIDE REPAINT OF THAT AND IT HAS WEAPONS I WILL GET IT AND IT IS AWESOME! (I know I was speaking in run-on sentences, but I'm too excited!)
This is too cool! In fact, you see that smaller rifle? The machine gun one? It is called a 'minigun' on TFWiki, and on 'The Veiled Threat' prequel novel, Ironhide, Optimus, and Salvage, go to Australia to battle Kickback, Trample, and Tread, three construction vehicles (I call them Constructicons). Ironhide battles Tread, I believe. He first shoots Tread with one cannon, then with the other. Then, he says, "How about a taste of my two-thousand-round-per-second minigun?" Anyone? He uses a minigun which shoots really fast! Aw, come on! This is totally that gun!

If the final version doesn't use a lot of silver/white paint for the zebra stripes, I plan on removing them and having a mainly black body. When I first read "Jungle Attack" Ironhide, I was hoping for a military camo pattern too.

If the toy designers had the prequel novel in mind when adding the minigun, it would definitely be cool. Even if that's not the case, the minigun/gattling cannon type of weapon is a go-to weapon when designers want to up the b@d@$$ quotient of a character. I remember Jesse Ventura's character in Predator rocking it with a minigun.
