He's definitely in the movie, it's just a matter of confirming the name. It's about 90% that he's Sideswipe. Safe money is that it is.

Now there's 3 deluxe class figures on my "Absolutely Must Own" list.
Movie Soundwave, Drift and Movie Sideswipe. Added to the others from the last few months, this list could be quite huge (and my wallet quite dry) by summers end.

They'll do both. Let's bet on which repaint is first...

Target will have the exclusive red G1 Sideswipe repaint and then later in the season we'll see the blue Movie Tracks version released at Wal-Mart!(along with 3 other figures) How's that for fine-tuning a bet! And I'll drop down a Target Scout Class for the both of you if I blow this one.

Sledge wrote:Good point. I suppose the real bet has to be on whether they go for a fourth repaint and do Sunstreaker. You can't have Sideswipe without Sunstreaker...
True.
We'll probably end up with 5 colors:
1 Silver (movie release)
2 Red (G1 Sideswipe or Red Tracks)
3 Blue (Tracks)
4 Yellow (Sunstreaker)
5 Black? (Black tracks- Euro?)

Wouldn't that be G2 Sideswipe?
Anyway, the car mode looks really nice. I might just pick him up.

I thought there were no forseeable plans for a Drift figure?
Anyways, which fig is that bigger car next to Sideswipe? It looks like an alternator. If it is, that looks like Rumble from the top. If that is Rumble, most likely it's custom painted right? and wouldn't that drop the credibility a bit whether or not this is legit?
here's a top view of Alternator Rumble

if it's not custom painted and both of these figs are legit then this might mean a Binaltech version of Rumble/Frenzy?

Hasbro Australia says "No", Chris Ryall of IDW reportedly says it is still a go. I'm of the foolish notion that if I wish/hope hard enough, Chris will be right and I'll have a chance of getting this figure. Either way, this Sideswipe figure will be enough to keep me happy until I find out for certain which way the "Drift" issue is going to go. I'm loving this design. This is the one Movie figure so far that has me in awe and I have not even seen clear pics of his robot mode or other views of the car mode yet.

Good Point.
So lets see then:
1 Silver (movie release)
2 Red: Volcano Lava Surge Sideswipe
3 Blue: Sea Trench Hydro Attack Sideswipe
4 Yellow: Egyptian Dessert Sunburst Power Sideswipe
5 Black: Super Secret Night Mission Action Sideswipe

That other car is Alternator Camshaft:

Ryan doesn't have a gallery of that one so I pulled the link from TFU.info

I'm not so sure that we are going to see the Sunstreaker repaint treatment for this Movie-verse figure. That got away with it for the Classics/Universe series with Ironhide and Ratchet and they Produced the Sideswipe/Sunstreaker repaints but the movie line is a different creature. With Sunstreaker being one of the original G1 group, a simple re-paint for the ROTF movie line would effectively take a core character off the market for the 3rd movie. (Pissed me off when they did it with Cliffjumper and I know some others weren't too happy as well.) I don't know how much core material the writers are willing to do away with or let Hasbro yank out from under them. Personally, I think it would be doing the character a great disservice. I still purchased the Cliffjumper toy just because the 08 Camaro is such an awsome Alt. mode compared to Cliff and Bee's originals, but I think Sunstreaker deserves his own distinct vehicle mode. If only Lamborghini or Ferrari would go for the whole liscensing aspect that would be cool but I think we are just going to have to hope/look for something else hot and sleek from within the GM family.
Ooohhh, hey! Maybe if they toned down the vain,pretty-boy image and focused more on his ruthless side we could get a new Dodge Charger figure for the 3rd movie. He could still be vain but he would also be bad-ass enough looking to warrant thrashing some 'Con for getting dirt on his finish. He'd also still be plenty fast and watching him and Sideswipe race down a freeway side-by-side would be a cool tribute to the classic rivalry of Sleek and Sporty - vs - Raw Detroit Muscle. Sibling rivalry taken to the next level.

Er... no. No you didn't.
Seeing as Audi is part of VW, and VW owns Lamborghini, maybe getting Lambo twins for TF3 isn't totally impossible.

The only TF I want to see as a Charger would be Prowl...as a Charger cop car. Seriously, that fits him nicely
I'm liking the Sideswipe!Vette a lot. I'm hoping they'll at least make a Sunstreaker repaint

Thanks for the back-up there, Sledge. I most certainly would not make the mistake of calling a 'Vette a muscle car. I have a fairly impressive collection of Hot Wheels that is very heavily "Muscle Car" influenced. While I do have a few classic Corvettes in my collection (any collector with good taste and appreciation for a beautiful car would) they are in a seperate case from the Muscles and with good reason.
It's interesting that Audi is contributing to the mix if they are part of VW considering VW's reasons for not allowing BB to get the "Bug" treatment any more. I also did not realize that VW owned Lamborghini, but then I have not had much cause to follow that company lately since I rarely see one, could never own one and have no desire to do 180+ mph. down any of the freeways near me. If I have the need for that kind of speed it will most likely be because I did something I shouldn't have and it won't matter what vehicle I'm in anyway because it still couldn't outrun a bullet or a Motorola!
As for the Charger being used for Prowl...hell yeah! Got my Vote!
Good Cop - Bad Cop, Charger -vs- Saleen Mustang. If that's what we get for allowing Sideswipe to have the repaint treatment to give us Sunstreaker then tell me what cans of paint I should start grabbing.
I'll do up the first Sunstreaker myself!

So if all three Autobots are together in Japan, that might explain their odd robot modes, but it also suggests a chunk of TF:TM love in this film.
Topical upshot: if the first repaint of Sideswipe isn't Sunstreaker, I predict it'll be Rodimus. The writers probably thought long and hard about whether to use his name or Sideswipe's in this film.

im intersted to see how his legs move hes got 2 ball joints on 1 leg correction i counted 3 ball joints on his leg thigh 2 in front 1 in the back makes me wander how his possibilty is in robot mode.

Robot mode is lovely. I just wonder how the hip articulation is going to work.

I know...we'll storm hasbro AFTER the first production run hit's the stores and we get our Sideswipe figures in hand. That's how we'll work it.

Which part of the clip is that? The only part that I can think of is the part that I thought was of Barricade, and at the very end of that clip at the top you can see what I thought were the 3 motorcycles in bot form jumping from the roof chasing after barricade.

Yeah Harvester is right. That scene has the Audi R8 (Possibly Barricade?) Transforming. This toy is the centennial corvette concept.

Also, I'd prefer red.
One thing I don't understand is why they keep using silver a lot, it must be a cheaper color than any other color, or primary colors

1. This guy does not die in the movie. HE IS TOO COOL! Blades on forearms and roller blade legs = MEGA WIN!
2. They make a Voyager Class of time

The lower balls on the ball jointed pieces dont seem to be sat in anything that would keep the joint together, there is no socket.
Cool looking in both modes. How can they get it so right on one figure and so wrong on another (The Fallen)!?
Posted by Down_Shift on February 10th, 2009 @ 4:45am CST
Even though the double ball jointed legs are a little odd, he still looks great.

That's a good thing. We're already getting our G1 redo's with the Universe series. We don't need ANOTHER rehashing of G1 characters. That horse died 20 years ago and we're still beating it.
This toy is absolute win piled high in awesomesauce. GIMME!
