Transformers Masterpiece MP-19+ Smokescreen Exclusive
Under the supervision of Nissan, this Masterpiece Smokescreen features a realistic vehicle mode, colored to match his appearance in the animated series. The updated head sculpt recreates the shape featured in the series as well. Smokescreen comes with interchangeable facial expressions along with smoke effects, jamming launchers, and disruptor rifle.
Transformers Masterpiece MP-47 Hound
Based on the original cartoon series, the Autoboot warrior Hound joins the Transformers Masterpiece figure line. Hound is a fully poseable figure and transforms into an armored Jeep that features realistically reproduced details under the supervision of Fiat Chrysler Automobile. Hound’s hood can be opened, cab can be removed, and can be driven by the included Spike figure or the hologram driver.
Transformers Masterpiece MP-46 Blackwidow
From the animated series Beast Wars, Blackwidow joins the Transformers Masterpiece line. Blackwidow is highly poseable including articulated spider legs and includes 2 face plates options of smiling and screaming. Blackwidow transforms from robot to a large spider and can be perched upon the included spider effect.

I don't know what it is but there is just something about Smokescreen's aesthetic that makes him so much more appealing than Prowl & co.
This also confirms that MP Blackarachnia is staying displayed in Bot Mode, forever. That mish-mash of joints with legs, is probably the worst Beast Mode to date. At least from the front.

I think what separates Smokescreen from his moldmates largely comes down to three major factors. The first being his general color scheme. Apart from the basic fact that red, yellow, and blue are the three primary colors and are just naturally appealing to us, his colors also pop more than Prowl’s black and white and Bluestreak’s black and silver. The other major factor is that head sculpt. He’s got a lot of character compared to the old head. Largely do to the smaller and more tightly grouped facial features. It makes that chin really jut out, giving him a more confident, commanding presence. The third is swapping out the black parts for more of a charcoal grey. That softens up his appearance, and separates him from the non-plus MP figures. He’s not quite as severe.

Black Arachnia beast mode...I thought the pic was some kind of Megabolt Megatron redeco or something -need to see it from more angles because that def isnt a good one. Maybe if they had worked under the supervision of arachnid enthusiaists it might have been better

If HasTak said 'Yes' to Masterpiece Combiner Teams tomorrow, how would you like them to be made? A HasLab priced boxset? A one in five releases figure? Or even something really atypical akin to a Legends Build-A-Figure IE pieces included with a given number of MP releases??

To soften the blow, they should release the Scramble City combiners first. One and one teams at the same time, one pair of bots at a time. I'd vote for Bruticus VS Defensor first.
This would be the best method.

It's not just a matter of overwhelming the customer. The toy makers themselves would make one hell of a gamble to spend YEARS doing the concept, prototyping, and manufacturing 5 over-engineered bots. Then they would release the team as a 1000$ set and not many would be able to buy the thing. Resulting in HasTak losing money and cancelling the combiners altogether.
So, one bot at a time, slowly, is the best solution for both the customer and the manufacturer.

There's also the scale issue with Devastator. Each members would be as big as Optimus and would most likely be 250$-300$ EACH as a result.

If I'm right, they mentioned about using some ideas they had for an eventual MP-Devastator for the UW.
Posted by Sabrblade on November 5th, 2019 @ 4:09pm CST
Hasui had design ideas for a potential MP Devastator and used those ideas in designing UW Devastator, as it was determined that UW Devastator would probably be the closest opportunity Hasui would get in actually making a MP Devastator.MadProject wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:I thought his Takara Unite Warriors release was supposed to be his masterpiece toy then again that was before mp-44 and the new drive to be completely toon accurate as possible

Do you think he meant that as "I probably won't be working here anymore by the time Takara will design a MP Devastator" or as "it's basically impossible that we'll see a MP Devastator due the costs of producing it"?

It was probably "This is the closest we may ever get to actually making a MP Devastator, so I better make the most of this opportunity to make this UW Devastator as close to a reasonable stand-in for a legit MP Devastator."MadProject wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Hasui had design ideas for a potential MP Devastator and used those ideas in designing UW Devastator, as it was determined that UW Devastator would probably be the closest opportunity Hasui would get in actually making a MP Devastator.MadProject wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:I thought his Takara Unite Warriors release was supposed to be his masterpiece toy then again that was before mp-44 and the new drive to be completely toon accurate as possible

A RiD Scourge-inspired one perhaps, maybe with a different trailer?

I'd normally agree, but MP-38 kinda threw any and all rationalization for the ID number system out the window.AllNewSuperRobot wrote:I'm sceptical about it, because it has a real number. On the plus side, for those of you (justifiably) turned off by the price, maybe this one will not come with a trailer and all the accessories, and thus be a $100 or so cheaper?

I would like a MP-44 Nemesis Prime that have NO trailer nor extra bits appart the axe and the gun. Then make it 50% cheaper and you get a sale.
However, maybe Takara will troll us by making him a full set that is DOUBLE the normal price because it will be a something-or-other exclusive.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't MP10B the same price as MP10 without the trailer and stuff?

There was a shadow fully black Lio convoy in the show, he was an actual character too, all the maximals had an episode where dark dopplegangers of them were made and existed

Figured as much, anything Japanese Beast Wars is far beyond my knowledge apart from the Convoys.

No, it just got that way on the secondary market before being reissued. MP-10B was ~140, MP-10 with trailer and all that was ~200-220 back then. Later reissues of both were some % less expensive which definitely doesn't help the recollection of how much they were.Wireless_Phantom wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't MP10B the same price as MP10 without the trailer and stuff?
Attempting to figure out "rules" or guidelines for MP numbering schemes is the path to madnessAllNewSuperRobot wrote:I'm sceptical about it, because it has a real number. The Prime redeco/Nemesis MP is typically MP-10B, for example. So this one would naturally be MP-44B, not its own number.

I was sure we had given up on the numbers making sense. They don't. Since Takara clearly doesn't care about the numbers, we shouldn't either.
Also, in my usual self I will say this, anyone expecting more than a standard redeco will be dissapointed.

AllNewSuperRobot wrote:Yet are the Nemesis redecos really so popular to warrant their own official number? How well are HasTak expecting this to sell alongside the other original figures of the line, given MP-44 was overpriced to begin with??
Again, the number itself has no real significance. At best it denotes either retooling or just straight redeco with new accessories, like these guys:
MP-31 Delta Magnus
MP-37 Artfire
MP-38 Convoy (Beast Wars) Legendary Supreme Commander Ver. (aka the toy-accurate one)
MP-40 Targetmaster Hot Rodimus

2009/10
2013
2017
What makes this one so special, over its predecessors? Aside from HasTak trying to fleece the fanbase with the same extortionate mold: but in black
