What time is it? It's time to pimp out your Reveal The Shield (G2) Optimus Prime! An update to the website of third party MakeToy gives us new prototype images of the upcoming upgrade 'Tank' for the deluxe class figure. Among the accessories include a katana, which also looks like it can be converted into a buster sword. There's also a new blaster and head for the figure. Of course, the most important piece from MakeToys will be the tanker trailer, which can turn into a base, and further into a battle suit. Check out the pictures below, and keep that drool in check!

Looks great! I'm really hoping the colors match both versions of the figure. I have one of each but I like the United version much better.

I'm more interested in seeing how much the RTS Optimus Prime mold is going to skyrocket in the secondary market. If a sub-par, once shelfwarmer, Classics Rodimus can turn into the pricey beast it is now, I don't even want to know about this figure. And I'm sure a repaint of this figure is in the making, there's no way Hasbro would get away without repainting an Optimus Prime mold!

Really looking forward to this though, just really excited. Almost, almost, giving me the urge to go through and pick up the BotCon '10 set and the other G2 homages of '10-'11.

Thats one killer upgrade. I have a feeling colour prototypes are going to blow my mind. Thats also pretty complex for a deluxe sized figure.

I have zero interest in the G2 Prime figure, but heaven help me, if Hasbro comes out with a Scourge repaint, which by all accounts should be an inevitability, then I will be all over this awesome upgrade kit! I passed on the SDCC Nemesis Prime wanting something more sinister and fearsome (and without blue windows), and I think this fits the bill nicely!

i have g2 prime and i have to say that this will be the first 3rd party upgrade set that i have ever bought,swords a big improvment as well.

I like the look of the add on parts, though the backpack components make the figure look like its wearing a portable shower stall. It's interesting how the base figure's hands hold onto the add on hands, which in turn hold on to the add on weapons. It's also nice that the Tank sword is compatible with Drift's back clip for holding a sword.

This is seriously epic and totally blows the Ultimate Prime away. But OMG... I already have a G1, Deluxe and Voyager DOTM Primes as well as the Classic Henkei and D.I.A. Commander. I'm trying to stop collecting Primes now... But this is going to be hard to pass up

I nearly missed the Shadow Commander having discovered it near the end of its distribution.

I thought I wouldn't have the money for the Protector because I needed Rodimus as well.

No I am thanking whatever spirits of the Allspark helped inspire the Tank. RTS Prime is in my collection now all I need to do is wait....

......now I remember how much waiting sucks!!! :-x

Freakin' sweet is what this thing looks like and with no signs of dissapointment IMHO. Of course United Prime is the one that is destined for this bad ass looking armor and I just got my hands on a United Prime just for this!

Now all we have to do is hope for great paint apps, QC, and that HasTak will get off their ass and produce a Nemesis Prime already for a repaint of this thing...'nuff said! :VEHI:

I went to the HTS and ordered it online the moment pics came out and would not have bought the figure before hand. But however, I gotta admit that I do like the figure now that I have it in my hands.

This piece is looking so great. I cannot wait for this to come out. Loving all I'm seeing so far. I hope the prices are fair and quality up to par with at least FansProject items.

Of course you have my support with that. I admire a married guy who's wife even let's him collect Transformers, let alone have their own room. I only just got back into collecting them and have no where near anything as impressive as what you've got.

I dunno...I think the base figure sucks to be honest. Does a somewhat neat upgrade make a crummy figure a must have? If this thing is the typical $80 add-on, I think I'm gonna just skip it.

I'm hearing you on the Gundam Vibe. This is definitely an awesome trailer. Too bad someone hasn't come up with something like this for the Masterpiece Primes. But if they did, it would be stupid expensive.

Nicely done, I gave the G2 style Optimus in my collection Decepticon stickers and just call him Nemesis Prime already, so having an add-on like this would only make him that much more awesome!

I picked up RTS Prime because I thought it was moderately cool. Never saw it again after that. This set only makes me more glad I did wind up buying it.

Although I hope all of these things don't come out all at once.

BTW: RTS Prime can hold the Battle in Space Matrix. It looks huge with him, but he can do it.

I never even saw RTS Prime in stock anywhere when I went on my "Prime Hunt" for something more impressive than my Voyager DOTM Hasbro Prime.

If you like the trailer, go on ebay now and buy him. Before the scalpers get wind that these pics are up and jack up the price. Because you know it'll shoot up after this.

Yes it will. But since I don't have an RTS Prime, the trailer is an easy pass for me. If I did have RTS Prime, this trailer would be a MUST.

I agree. It's a shame that folks with our mindset will want to spend so much more to make the figure look great, but the add-on set just looks brilliant! This will bring my G2 Prime from the shadows and displayed prominently.

Awsome stuff. I'm patting myself on the back a little here because I'm getting good at anticipating what the 3rd party toy makers are gonna take a swipe at. LOL I had a feeling when i first saw the RTS figure that someone was gonna build that iconic G2 tanker trailer for it

Anyway, I tried to snag as many of these as I could find here in the states because I just knew it would be an investment. But I havn't opened any of them yet. I've kept them MOC. And I'm trying to determine if I should use an RTS version or the United for this add on kit...any thoughts people?

Questions:
1) OK correct me here if I'm wrong but wasn't this a one per case item? Their always seemed to just be one G2 Prime for every two Jazz, Tracks, and B-Bee's that I could find. That was a clue to me that this might be a future rare piece.

2) And I have to show some ignorance here. Is the figure pictured above the RTS version or the United? I read somewhere on here that the RTS version had a problem with a tab that poked out somewhere on the shoulder that limited rotation etc, but this was supposedly addressed with the United version.
I'm guessing this is a United but I can't tell the difference without looking them up on the galleries here LOL

And I agree...you just know that a RID Scourge won't be too far behind this set. I wasn't a big RID fan but I'm digging this figure and mold so I'll be follwing the developments closely.

Well, now I'm glad I got that Prime in the deluxe lot from BBTS. My wallet weeps though. This has been an expensive year so far, and the Prime toys aren't even out yet....

It's the RTS version. The United version has inner blue plastic, not red.

Cool thanks! Those window chest-plastic color differences are an excellent tell-tale sign at a quick glance for sure. I tried to find pics of a United version on the Seib Galleries and realized none had been posted yet, but I knew I had seen a United version somewhere and your pic reminded me that I saved that very pic when it popped up on here as a link several weeks ago. I had saved those on my computer somewhere :-?
