Yeah, I see that going over well. "Hey, let's piss off the fans a lot more than we already have on this issue." That sounds like a real good idea...

You know they will do it... they don't care if some fans get pissed off. Fans complain all the time about different figures about different things to them... the main concern for them is the money... they know they have already made tons of money on this mold, and will squeeze every dime they can out of it... I hope they do release Dirge and Thundercracker

I'm over it. Considering the limited runs on BotCon sets, I'd rather see more people get new versions of these popular characters than not. But hey, to each their own. Do you own a complete set of 6 Classics/Henkei Seekers?

Same here. And I own the original set plus the Henkei set. I'll take new versions of all of these guys 'cause I love them that much.

I don't actually own any of them. So I guess that doesn't exactly make me the person best qualified to talk about this, is it?

1) correction - 7 seekers...
I wish they would make the full set of 10 (in my mind Sunstorm is different then the yellow rainmaker )
2) SCREW botcon exclusives. "ooo im sooo special cause I drop 2k on a hotel stay and air fair to go to the convention, then spend $120 on a set of figures just so I can horde them and charge $800 for them a few years later..."
I'm sorry, but something like a complete set of seakers should not be delegated to "convention exclusives" for 3 of the figures.
NOR should we have to pay $70 a pop for import henkei shipping costs...
$12 at walmart should be the price!!!

Botcon characters should be made up fictional characters. The general fan population deserves to see all their favorites for a normal price. I never understood how this issue could push such greed among fellow collectors. If I wanted rare stuff, I would collect coins, stamps etc. Transformers are supposed to be fun. it aint no fun if the homies cant have none....
Hopefully, we will see Dirge and Thundercracker soon or a Skywarp with a classics paint job. I wouldnt get mad if Botcon released the Rainmakers cause they were 1 episode characters. But all main characters should get a regular release and we should never have this greed again.

I don't see why this release would piss off anyone that already got it.
Posted by Dread_Wing on March 24th, 2010 @ 4:47pm CDT
I feel tempted to try to Frankenstein the two together, but I don't think I could do that to such an expensive figure as Gentei Thrust.
And with that bright yellow cockpit, Thrust will not match Classics Ramjet either. I will probably pick it up, try to modify it somehow.

Ditto, don't even start that crap about "elite collectors". As someone who own's the Botcon set I hope they also release the Henkei version of Dirge. It has superior wings, but I didn't want to spend $80.00 on a character I already had. I would gladly pay $12.00 for it though.

There already is a Skywarp with a classics paint-job. It was part of a two-pack with Ultra Magnus during the classics releases a few years back.
I agree with whoever said it earlier, the darker burgundy looks much better than the Takara release.

Crap... I have no Ramjet or Warp..

I'm also happy the Botcon version still looks to be the best of the 3, for those who paid heavily for it.
Win for everyone.
I'd like to see them do Dirge and Thundercracker, also but sorta like they did the first classics Starscream, maybe with some unique paint apps that are sorta G1 but aren't.
Posted by Nekoman on March 24th, 2010 @ 8:56pm CDT
Also was against the idea of this thing hitting retail, but looks like it did anyways. That said, Hasbro did good on the thing. I think it would have been better though if they started with Dirge since both his Botcon and Takara toys had plenty of room for improvement.

Maybe they'll do the same with the Dirge mold later. BotCon's was just a Ramjet repaint, so again they'd be different.
But some fans will complain anyways. They always do.

I'm not a huge Thrust fan, but I'm thrilled this is getting a retail release, and will definitely buy him. After comparing images of this with Botcon and Henkei, I'm shocked that I actually like this paint scheme the best. I love the metallic crimson/burgundy. Here's hoping the final figure looks that great. Way to go Hasbro....now bring on Thundercracker and Dirge...PLEASE!

I know about that one. I missed out on it but didnt like the way they did Skywarps stripes. They were not G1 at all. Then they did the same weird stripes on Starscream with a hard to find retail version. But they fixed him the next year to G1 style in the wave with Acid Storm. I want a skywarp like that but not at Takara prices...

I've already got the Henkei Seekers, so I'll pass, but I'm glad this option is now available for people, and I hope they do Thundercracker and Dirge as well.

I agree with you that the red waist looks kind of crappy, but on the Henkei version, the all red arms look really crappy. I think having the waist red is the better of two evils. Others are complaining about the yellow cockpit, but it matches Starscream's yellow cockpit and the yellow shoulders help balance the brightness. Plus without those annoying lightning bolts, 12 bucks is worth the money.

I personaly do think people who own the Botcon set will feel short changed, especially since this one is superior. I'd sell up to those who want exclusives and get this. Also whats the deal with the spinning fans, do they spin or not. I'm not bothered, but I'm curious if it's anothe rfeature they ended up leaving out. Also Henkei dirge is more closer to the original where as botcons is just a ramjet repaint, which is sad as he should of been a ramjet repaint without the fans.

I really like the white face [no racism intended] it really pops out and shows off the sculpt. Do you think the will keep that meatalic looking finishing or is that just for advertising and we will end up with the dull finish as usual.

I don't feel short changed. I'll pick this up, but I still like the looks of the Botcon version better. I don't like how the tail fins stick so far out from his feet. I also think the overall plane mode is kinda weak in this version. Granted, this is hands down better looking than the Takara one. I still find the Botcon one to be the best.

Brilliant post. Most sensible thing said about this release.
If it means more fans can get some classic characters in their collection, then that's only a good thing.
