It's sentinels being held upside-down

Why you no trust Cobotron?
I agree Diac's face is a near perfect match, but I like the way the one he has has a much more fierce and threatening, rough and wild appearance. A good fit for a beast bot. Plus he's not the same Leo Convoy. He re-scanned man!
I do dig how the metallic blue of the gun and head pulls the color from the old design.

I'd like to see as well. I own a vintage GaoGaiGar, but I really don't see any connection between the two.
Unless it was just a bad joke.

Hang on, I got this one.
GaiGar
GaoGaiGar
Legends Lio Convoy
Yeah I'm veering on the side of joke. Nicely done, though!

I know the timeframe adds up, GaoGaiGar airing in 1997 and Beast Wars II in '98. GGG was a pretty wild success so i wouldn't put it past Takara to homage their own property, but Lio Convoy also has a ton of red on his torso that GaiGar doesn't, which is what makes me question the resemblance.
It's chuck's personal opinion. Does not necessarily mean it's true. If you ask me, it's the TF Go! Samurai/Ninja team combiner that looks more like Gaogaigar.

The Cybertron line drew plenty of inspiration from that particular series, like Hot Shot's transformation being partially based on Volfogg, Super Optimus Prime's helmet having a similar shape to Gaogaigar's, and Leobreaker is said to be based on Galeon (that's what I was going for in my previous post). Lio Convoy himself is probably based more on Leo from Jungle Emperor aka Kimba the White Lion.

That is why White lions pop up so much (also as a Battle Beast)- as well as in Bandai lines too quite often - likewise white tigers.
Sort of like the reasons Magmatron has such a odd choice of creature alt modes is because they are ones linked to some saurus skeleton in the 1990's japan was big on Meglosaurus it may even be why Metroplex was called Megloconvoy too.
There may be some greater cultural significance to white cats that I am not aware of though that may be common knowledge to a native Japanese person.
Heck perhaps they are even linking things to the Lucky cat statues they have in Asian so much.

Which would be a very doable with the Sky Shadow mold.

Are there any G1 Optimus Prime or G1 Rodimus Prime (preferably not Hot Rod) toys that are of equivalent robot mode height to that Fortress figure?JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Now that that's settled, back to the thread:Cyberpath wrote:From Takara:

Titanium series Rodimus might be that size. That's my best guess.Sabrblade wrote:Are there any G1 Optimus Prime or G1 Rodimus Prime (preferably not Hot Rod) toys that are of equivalent robot mode height to that Fortress figure?JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Now that that's settled, back to the thread:Cyberpath wrote:From Takara:

Nah, that mold's on the small side, even for a Deluxe. The TR Cerebros/Legends Fortress mold is rather tall Deluxe, but smaller than a full sized Voyager.Decepticon Stryker wrote:Titanium series Rodimus might be that size. Classics/Henkei Optimus Prime would probably be a better fit, CW Prime is pretty tall.
And he said no Hot Rod(imus).

I mean, Hot Rod and Rodimus are the same guy. And it's not exactly like they have any actual visual difference.

Cobotron wrote:Maybe Cloud Rodimus?
At that point, might as well go with MP Hot Rodimus. He's only Hot Rod in scale when looking at the MP line, he makes just as much a convincing Rodimus Prime for a classics collection.

Right, but he was looking for Rodimus Prime, not Hot Rod.

Hopefully Takara would want to complete this shot... because the ultimate CHUG Prime is overdue.

A much bigger TR/TL Galvatron helmet prototype which was said to be the basis of the initial CGI renders.

It's hard to go wrong either way, honestly. Hasbro's and Takara's versions of Weirdwolf are very close, with only minor differences in paint apps and head sculpts. I hope we get a repaint down the line, maybe as Cybertron Snarl?

Actually, used for the rumored Pounce I think he'll be. Only two changes, the wolf head and face he'd need.

The Legends version is too yellow for my taste.

Ah, good call. Perhaps a retooled Mindwipe as Wingspan? It might take a bit more extensive retooling to get the robot modes to really "match" though. Gotta be able to believe that they are "clones" of one another, unless Hasbro is just going to give up that conceit entirely. It would make it more difficult to differentiate the two on store shelves, since Hasbro packages their deluxes in robot mode now.

On Wingspan Hawk, my thoughts exactly. I don't think selling them will be much of a problem, as they're rumored to be in a box set. The Autobot Clones are rumored as such as well.

Curious with that prototype of TR Galvatron shown, but is the helmet part of the Titan Master sculpt or does it flip out of the chest like in the final version? I looks like it was more or less part of the Titan Master's sculpt to me.

It borrowed heavily from the Studio Ox artworks back in the late 80s. The middle horn is protruding unlike the final product and looks a lot bigger.
As for being part of the head or the actual body, there still is that panel on his chest. As to whether it is spring mounted, your guess is as good as mine.
