I kinda prefer this - as it means I don't have any "surprises" happen to my bank account at a later date.william-james88 wrote:Emerje wrote:
I always forget Anime Export, I don't like the idea of paying in advance for pre-orders, they're the only "major" shop I know of that requires it.
Emerje
But thats how they can have those prices so low. They insure to never have a cashflow problem and that all their figures are always sold and payed for and can thus afford to lower their margin more than any other retailer.
Nothing shady, it's just part of the formula for that the value of money is time sensitive.
For fans it can also be a way to hedge their bets on the exchange.
As for "major" sites? Not sure if the following are major, but Robotkingdom and Premium Collectables do it this way. I know PC will allow you to cancel a preorder and put that value towards something else as a credit (just did so this morning.)

Basically it is less like a tab and more like a "T shaped slider tab". Basically you have to partially slide the tab on in order to get it in. The issue with it was, although it didn't break right away, I noticed that the gun took TREMENDOUS force to take off, and no matter how hard I tried to be careful, it ended up starting to slighty crack anyhow. I was determined to stop the crackage right away to I started to sand the sides of the T tab down a bit, and then it worked fine with now more crackage, and still held on fine. I am thinking something similar with Devastator's foot tab.
meh, never equipped his gun in copter mode, nor do I know of anyone else who does either, guess that would explain why it was never brought up as an issue
I equip his gun and have had no such issue. You have to slide it forward to attach and back to detach. Sure, you've got ridiculous clearance issues and just tabbing in traditionally would have been preferred, but I haven't observed any cracking.
Brought this over here since this is where it most belongs. I am with That Bot: I have never had an issue with Springer and his gun, no cracks, no nothing. And I have had mine for now 3 years and transformed him countless times and I do equip the gun in coptor mode.

Shades of green feel hard to pin down, considering the variability of animation, broadcast etc.

I like the yellow chest but I loathed the yellow plastic colour Hasbro used, so I ended up painting over all the yellow plastic on my Springer with a richer ever so slightly orangey yellow that I had also used to add extra details on my AoE Deluxe Bumblebee (like the yellow strips on the thighs the Takara version has and my Hasbro one was missing) and I think it looks much better.

You repainted this same mold into a Rodimus. This is a fantastic mold but learn from your Hasbro counterparts and make a new Rodimus. Say not to the repaint drug.

Meh, I'd rather Cloud Rodimus, than some new, uninspired generic hot rod. Now if we're talking the futuristic semi version, I could definitely do with a 2016 version of the semi truck

I dont think the Rodimus repaint was Takara's idea. Wasnt it a series of E-Hobby exclusives, thus more like a TF-club exclusive type of repaint?

The Cloud line? I dunno, that may explain the price tag for all of them

Yeah these werent standard takara issues, they are more like the Japan equivalent of Club figures or con exclusives in the US.

Yeah, figured, it's a shame, as I wouldn't've minded getting Rodimus, Hellwarp, Shockwhirl

That line surprised me greatly. As Megatronus said when he found that the Rodimus redeco was the best use of the mold, I found the Shockwave rdeco of Whirl to be the best version of that mold. And I dont know why, its the same mold, no differences. I guess its just the attention to detail that went into these redecos was more than usual and the paint scheme felt so cohesive.

Yes, clearly quite a large amount of time and effort was invested in that line, they all felt so 'fresh' and unhindered by the need to be slavishly 'G1', it was a real breath of fresh air

It's a real shame the Cloud Optimus Prime is so expensive on the aftermarket because it's easily my favourite G1-style deco for Prime.

S'funny all the talk about Cloud Rodimus, I got one recently and felt very... underwhelmed. I think his base red is a little dark, and I got sorta bummed out when I realized I couldn't logically put him in my C/G movie display next to G Springer.

I totally get that last part. But what fans were happy about was that he was a better representation of his current appearance in MTMTE and that he scales well with Generations Magnus in that context.
By the way, lessons learnt, be very careful of searching "MTMTE Rodimus and Magnus" on google images, there is some fan art there you can never unsee.

Let's see if we can get out of this back alley, and back to Main St.
What's left for the Legends line? Have all the 2014 Generations toys been released in Legends?
You guys think Takara will release Titan Masters under Legends or it's own line?

There is still Jihaxus, nightbeat and crosscut. Though they might just skip nightbeat and release him when he is a proper headmaster. Crosscut I am not sure either. But Jihaxus is definitely a character they would do especially since they could offer the proper deco that homages the initial toy:

The comics, specifically the Dark Cybertron ones, got the colors from the Gen toy, which got the colors from the RiD toy. He was gold and silver with a red head in the comics before Dark Cybertron.william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:But... Hasbro goofed up the colors on the Gen Jhiaxus when they went looking for deco references in their archive and found pics of the RiD toy first, assumed its colors were the correct ones, and based the Gen toy's colors on the RiD toy's colors instead Jhiaxus's original yellow/gold, white/silver, red, and green colors.

Ah my bad. I knew there was a mistake with the deco, I just confused what the mistake was. And I am reading the comics now so I get confused as to what came first with toys and comics. Like I know now that the design for Generations deluxe megatron was first in the comics but wasnt sure for jihaxus. He was in issue 10 of IDW TF RID from 2012 right? Was his deco orange then?
But in any case, if Takara is gonna keep the legends line for a gen toy that wasnt released yet, it would totally be for Jihaxus in proper colours. That would be a sure buy for a lot of folks.

I'd like to see the gen mold done up in these colors. I picked up the safety/hunter's orange version on the cheap because I didn't own the mold yet and I like the Jhiaxus remolding better. It's a pretty fun mold, but I had to take a file to the backpack peg to get mine to peg in correctly in bot mode. I also do a little fanforming and fold his wings to point backwards. I think it looks nice.Sabrblade wrote:

that first pic is awesome. I love how color looked on comics printed on newsprint.
His head design is awesomely diabolical.
If Takara released one like that custom, I would consider trading up.
