Well, if the armor matches Hasbro's voyager, then I'm cool with that. I detest that the Asian market is getting the rest of the line in jacked up colors while we're twiddling our thumbs hoping to get them in the English speaking market. It just kinda irks me that this guy is another fine WTF example of their version of Animated. Also that I will buy it to complete the run. Sigh.

I do like the look, kind of a fast pack... It would have been better, IMO, if they could have made this a trailor that morpohed into the armor for him. Like the trailor they had in the toon once or twice.

I daub it'll match Hasbro's colour scheme, I think the backpack will be too shiny. It looks great on this their version but might look odd on the Hasbro version.
And all because Hasbro decided to wait half a year after the show aired to release the toys.

But, I'm going to buy it because I want the mold.

I'm glancing over my Voyager Prime and noticed that the plastic colors of his chest does not match up with those on the shoulders. Same story with Wingblade Prime, which is a shame.

Judging how tall he is compared to Magnus, I'm thinking he's a Voyager "Voyager". It also comes with the Voyager Primes "trailer"/axe/gun.

Nope, the Voyager mold has a solid plastic chest, the translucent windows in the chest are a separate piece. And if you look closely you will notice that the rest of his body and weapons are also translucent which makes it odd that they chose to paint some of him with shiny metallic paint.

I'm not convinced of this. It looks pretty metallic to me. bad picture though. Ultra Magnus' blues look about the same finish as Prime's, and I'm pretty sure he's not translucent.

Look at the top of his truck mode - the back of it (his shoulders) is an entirely different color from the front chest piece, because the chest is translucent. With that in mind, looks down, and the hand covers in the front are a sort of smoky grey, also translucent. His lighter gray areas are as well.
Everything but the armor, and shoulders, it looks like. Shame.

Plus you can actually see the insides of the figure, look at the legs you can see the mold lines that are on the inside of the legs. And you can see right through the gray parts and the wheels.
that thing is translucent with metallic paint applied here and there.

Thing is, whereas TakaraTomy will use the Voyager Prime, Hasbro will use the 2-pack Deluxe, to keep the whole within the Voyager price range. Shiny Voyger, or clean Deluxe...

Are you serious? That makes it a whole different story. I want a voyager prime not deluxe. Guess I won't be getting one anytime soon, can't see it being less than $60. Darn you Hasbro Let me guess, this fig is also exclusive and limited or something and not a part of the main Tak line?

You're lucky in that, it's part of the main line. He has number TA-38.

LOL. So you're going to wait on Hasbro, who if it ever releases the toy, will likely be a store exclusive and rare as heck. Then add that trying to find it in Canadian retail, where it will likely get scalped. Top that off with waiting impatiently forever for the decision of Hasbro to actually do it... Or buy it now off Takara. Oh well, it's not my money.

That was unusually snarky of you, Blurrz.
My issue is the shiny paint, hence why I said it wouldn't fit in with my collection. If it wasn't for that, hell yeah I'd buy it, and sell off my original Voyager. But alas, the raccoons strike again.
Besides, my Prime doesn't need wings THAT bad.

Is this true, or are you speculating? Considering I quite like the Voyager I have, the chance of a deluxe-size without the crappy "battle damage" paint that made me pass him up would actually be preferable.

It's true: he was featured as a cross sell on Thundercracker's box, and it's clearly the deluxe mold.

Plus that was the way he was announced at BotCon and SDCC last year, which is why the armour was made to fit both the deluxe and the Voyager.

I'm tired of being dicked around by Hasbro on these. First there's rumors that they're canceling the line, then they say two of 'em are gonna be TRU exclusives, then they say they're going to try and release the rest of them if possible, and so on and so on.
I don't have the patience for that. The show went off the air, the toys are no longer being sold and I want them in my collection and I want my peace of mind.
I'll pay a little extra to TakaraTomy and be happy.
Hasbro listens to the fans on stuff like Generations, but they sure screwed the pooch on Animated.

Pardon the latecomer...
Sight your source. As far as I've known, the Hasbro Wingblade was also always the Voyager. I'll dig up the set reference of him and Blackout. Unless they changed it since that was put out. (Still a moot point but still...)
If Hasbro was smart, and I don't know that the person who killed Wingblade is, and judging by the way the TFU figs were doneto to say they aren't, they'd roll the rest of Ani out under the Genreations banner, since the Generations is a catch-all for various series.

Rabbit's correct. Hasbro had always planned on making Wingblade Optimus the Deluxe with the add on pieces to keep costs low and remain in the Voyager price point. It was stated that if they used the Voyager mold, it would push the figure into Ultra Class territory and that Animated didn't have one for them to work with. Which would leave them with no way to market it and they'd end up losing money without going Deluxe.
This was stated at either one of the panels at SDCC, Botcon, or in one of the Q&A sessions, but they did confirm that it was a matter of keeping costs low, and that a repainted Deluxe Class Earth mode figure would be the core robot of the set.
Once Animated was shelved in favor of ROTF, any and all plans for these were indefinitely suspended, and only Deluxes have trickled out to TRU. Hasbro keeps saying they'll find ways to release the remaining figures, but ended the statement with this: "If you can get the Japanese releases, you should do so." (or something close to that wording)
TakaraTomy's looking to be the best option (because they went with Voyager and a translucent one, to boot), and the only option. (Could be worse, could be that they never see the light of day.)
