Amazon Japan has a new image for the robot mode of the 10th Movie Anniversary Starscream figure Takara is releasing. This is the deco from the first film used for the Revenge of the Fallen voyager toy. He is currently 25% off on Amazon and while the site is entirely in Japanese, it is now possible for foreigners to order toys from the site. This anniversary line has also been featured in the latest Figure King magazine, and we have a scan from Loopaza.

The mold is not really all that bad. I enjoy playing around with it form time to time. Its one of the few movie toys I keep out to actually play with.

Like me!
I'm super excited for the silver decoed ROTF Voyager Megatron too. I like the DOTM Voyager Megatron, but the character needs a beefier mold to represent him on my live action movie shelves.

Takara Tomy already did a "Movie 1" deco for DOTM deluxe Starscream for the "Movie Advanced" line a few years ago, for the release of Age of Extinction (a.k.a. "The Lost Age" in Japan).

I don't have this mold, I got the Hunt for the Decepticons Voyager version among other versions of the guy, but never the improved Leader mold. I'm looking forward to playing around with it. Is this mold compatible with Jetfire?
Emerje
I am not sure if its compatible with jetfire since part of the connection deals with the abs which are remolded in this new version. But trust me, its better that way. The combiation with jetfire is not fun and prone to breakage. If you dont have this mold, that leader is the way to go since this is Takara releasing the latest amazing $200 + APS Ultimate Prime for their own market at a way more affordable price.

The way I see it, you are supporting Takara's practice to celebrate anniversaries and give us awesome paint apps, more than anything else. These are older molds and Hasbro already got all the support for those so this wouldnt really count in their numbers (at least not nearly as much as when that mold first came out).
I encourage whatever I like, and I like these. So I am buying 3
And guys, I cannot stress it enough how awesome it is that we are getting this leader Optimus at that price.

Do you remember where Jetfire connects with prime in that belly area? I ask because the 5 areas retooled for this release are the following:
Forearms: no longer have swing out sword (thank GOD)
Hands: now have articulated fingers
Gas tanks: now removeable
Abdominal area: those red hook pieces have been cut and the abdominal area was resulpted to look like organic abs.
Jetfire hooks onto the feet (no problem) and pelvis. Now I do not know if the reworked abdominal area means any change to the pelvis. If it does, then he cant connect, but if it doesnt and the pelvis is intact, then it would still be able to connect.

No way, its much better, its a "straight" reissue of this guy with a retooled head:
https://tfsource.com/transformers-asia/aps01u/
It has the most intricate paint apps so far. Just check all the details from the top shoulder to the forearm. Buster has that all in silver while this guy has individually colours gears and rivets. Its gonna be insane.

Jetfire doesn't connect to the pelvis, per se. The pieces just "rest" there, via the circular indents and the bottom of the windshield panels. The main connection is on the back, hooking onto the hinge and snapping onto the roof panel.

Not a lazy re-issue but actually with new features! Takara can suck at times with their ambitious Tracks/Roadrage mold but this one looks like a home run!

And the source I read this issue from (okay Burn don't go ballistic with this)
http://tformers.com/mb-11-10th-annivers ... /news.html
made a big fuss for articulated fingers. Maybe not all people are aware of this feature. Maybe you could confirm if the original mold of this figure never had "articulated fingers".
Then this re-issue is just is one of the many GREAT examples of how Takara goes an extra mile with their versions (which is a 5/5 to me) like UW Devs (elbows, weapons, two faces) UW Bruticus with Blastoff etc etc

This was kept for all iterations of the mold until the APS-01U Optimus Prime Ultimate Edition. That release has both the Jetwing and Striker accessories, and even adds 2-2-1 articulated fingers, plus a knuckle buster and battle hooks. It's that release the 10th Anniversary release is based on.

JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:The articulated fingers are not new, as stated. But the feature was planned for the original RotF release, making it to the stock photo stage. However, the economic crisis of 2008 meant that the parts count had to be lowered a bit, and designs simplified. Starscream, Sideways, Rampage and Optimus Prime were the most noticeably affected, in the latter case the hands became solid pieces:

They gave us nothing new. This feature is already available in the APS-01U release, which came out last year, as Jelze just stated. You can see those same hands in the pic below showing that release (of last year):
So Tformers is incorrect, I dont know why they made a big deal out of this.
The only thing Takara did with this, is release that same toy (with the faceplate versin of the ROTF headsculpt) at a lower price point due to not giving as many accessories.
So now we can own the best version of OP for 70-100$ instead of over 200$. That's awesome of takara even though there is are no new features in this release.

So we get a cheaper face-plated version, no accessories hence cheaper version. As for the ethics of correcting another site's reports..........I'm staying away from that with a 10 foot pole.

- Ion Blaster from the Buster Optimus Prime version.
- Battle Blades from the Striker Optimus release.
- Battle Hooks from the Ultimate Edition.
- Knuckle from the Ultimate Edition.
Really, the only things removed are the Jetwing backpack and guns, and Striker's Stealth Force Mode attachments.

Bad jokes aside, I'm pretty excited about getting Leader Prime again, and with it being a reissue of the second Asia Premium Series Prime (without the Jetwing accessories) makes him a little more accessible for my budget.
