I think this is a great Warpath. Would I have liked it to have the more traditional chest cannon? You bet! Was I disappointed when this was first announced? Yep.
But I was pleasantly surprised once I had this in hand. I really felt like I was photographing Warpath. I think it was his head that really did it for me. That and the fantastic color that stayed relatively true to the colors I expect a Warpath toy to have. If we didn't have the deluxe figure (who still needs a hand gun by the way), I'd be extremely disappointed with this. However, I've already got a couple of Warpath toys that I already like so I like this different interpretation of him.
My only regret with this gallery is that I missed an opportunity to sneak in the Bot Shots Warpath gallery finally and include him in the comparison shots. One day!

The ex-Enforcer of the Tyrest Accord boasts all sorts of accessories. Removable missile launchers that become a hammer, two separate weapons, and the ghost bot in the machine, Minimus Ambus himself, who converts from moustached robot to Cybertronian vehicle, and sits in the chest compartment of the Magnus armour (probably writing poetry and keeping it tidy). Click on any image below to view the full galleries, and make sure to check out the plastic rendition of the 1986 movie poster!

So what was used to support the figures? Fishing line?
Very well done. Trying to get Unicron that level would have driven me to drink... more

I wonder if this version can b e made to have the old Powered Convoy configurations if you detach the cab from the trailer. Sure, it's a mod, but not much of one and it looks like it could be possible.

Minimus is MUCH smaller than Legends class. Did you see him next to Legends Wheelie?

This CW Magnus looks very nice, and I do want one very much. However, seeing him with his CHUG compatriots, his blatant hollowness, non-painted wheels, and plastic, do look inferior. That makes me a bit sad...
Overall I like him, but some of these Combiner Wars figs have had too many cut-backs to them for their own good, and it leaves me feeling conflicted about them. ,

Should be the new background for Seibertron.

Thanks everyone! It was a ton of work to set up this shot. Unicron fell on the poor Autobots several times, though it doesn't seem like anyone was damaged fortunately. Maybe I'll notice a paint scratch or something later but nothing glaring at the moment thankfully. I took more photos from this shot but it was way too much work to remove the fishing line from the picture that I used to hold Unicron and the Decepticons up above the Autobots. Here's a before pic of the same shot in a rare "behind the scenes of Seibertron.com's galleries" that I thought you guys might enjoy seeing.

It's just a fun little repaint of legends Megatron no need to get all worked up about it.

New Gallery: SDCC 2015 Combiner Wars Devastator
Still unsure about Devastator? Still unsure about the bling the SDCC version is rockin'? Well check out our newest gallery to help you decide! (I have the retail version in hand and I must say it's worth the money, so while I can't say much about the chrome, I'd imagine if you're an SDCC junkie, this guy is perfect for you!)
Our galleries of the individual bots will be released over the weekend, so you'll have something to enjoy when you come home from your 4th of July celebrations, something that'll make you paw the screen and drool. (And probably open your wallets...c'mon, we only live once!)
Before we head onto the gallery, make note of the special edition packaging, chrome accents and G1 toy accurate paint apps used to match those of the sticker sheet that came with the original many moons ago. (You can see the original in our galleries by clicking right here.)
Without further ado, we proudly present 2015 San Diego Comic Con exclusive Combiner Wars Titan Class Devastator!

Chrome paint is expensive yo. Maybe they blew most of the budget on giving Devs stereoscopic vision. Maybe they got halfway through chroming up the purple bits and ran out of budget.
In all honesty I don't understand the Chrome paint on this. If all the Purple was chrome, it might look great. But the mixed types of paint is kind of distracting.

Purple is a really hard color to get right, especially in photography. A single shift to either red or blue can change the appearance on the image dramatically, while in person it looks totally different.

Oh yeah, I know. I took plenty of Color Theory and Study classes getting my art degree. Even the shade of Green on Devs affects how the Purple looks.

The extra engineering on the Takara version was done afterward by Takara. Hasbro's was engineered first.El Duque wrote:This has probably already been discussed (I'm too lazy to read the previous 14 pages of comments). So this set was designed by Shogo, who's been hitting home runs in the MP line. Seems to me the Takara version is how this set was originally designed, with the elbows and whatnot, and the Hasbro version is the remold. I can't imagine Shogo not have individual bot modes with no elbows in his original design. I assume Hasbro cut them as a cost saving measure?

The latest issue of Figure King shows the parts altered for Takara's version in the grey prototype stage while the rest of the (unpainted) figure is unchanged from the finalized Hasbro version, showing that the changes were made after the Hasbro version was made:It Is Him wrote:Sabrblade wrote:The extra engineering on the Takara version was done afterward by Takara. Additionally, the changes made to Hook's and Mixmaster's arms to give them better elbows by adding new elbow joints did not replace the joints that were already made for the Hasbro version, instead keeping the Hasbro elbow joints intact, making their arms now have double-jointed elbows while the other Constructicons only have single-jointed elbows, further showing that these changes were made after Hasbro's version was done.

Takara for sure, but I think I'll grab a regular HASBRO for me and my boys to mess with.

I know I'm definitely a minority on this one but I like the metallic purple. The color doesn't bother me at all and I love the way it pops. I Will say that I'm glad they didn't use it on all the purple because it should be more of an accent than a base color.

The classics Sunstreaker is a good mold but I prefer the Combiner Wars Head sculpt, engine back and alt mode here.
Even if some characters lose some of their iconic design choices such as Prowl's door wings or Ironhide's window chest (Although this Ironhide's chest is painted in blue to invoke that window chest) I still think these are great updates for them and Combining is a bonus for some people.
And just because their repaints doesn't make them bad I think the repaints here are pretty damn good and the paint choices and new heads make them look different enough from the original molds I mean outside of the pointless repaints such as Nightwatch Optimus when did you guys have problems with repaints as new guys?
The Commandos/Combaticons from Rid were just repaints of the G1 Combaticons and Rid Scourge is just a repaint of an Optimus Prime mold and heck some of the minibots from 1986 were just repaints/remolds of older guys such as Windcharger into Tailgate or Pipes from Huffer.
