Though not a combiner itself, it still falls under the 2015 toyline, and much like deluxe Armada Starscream, homages the Unicron trilogy cartoon of the same name. The toy shares the mold with the more G1esque tank Megatron (stay tuned for more on that!), features a new antlered headsculpt and orange/green/purple deco, plus a firing missile, telescopic arm cannon and a big purple rifle gun. Check it out below!

I'm getting both of these. I like the G1 Megatron better, but it'd be nice to have the Armada one to keep Armada Starscream and Hot Shot company. I do wish they remolded him a little more so that, for example, he could have his capture claws at the front of the tank.

They are, but they are dangling out from under the front. Pretty cool.
I just wish his legs were thicker and the turret came out under his arm, etc.

They have the same combining gun. It's two smaller pieces that combine to make a larger two handled gun.

I also wish the giant cannon was detachable so that it could be on his hip, or on its right should for a G2 Megatron.

Seibertron wrote:I actually really like Combiner Wars Armada Megatron. My biggest gripe is that he has the same gun as "G1" Megatron as well as the same chest plate. I wish they had done something to remold that part to differentiate it more from the other Megatron.

Oh yeah. Now I see it. Would've been cool if he had the blade the original had.
And I do see that the head (and claws) are under the tank front/chestplate. I'm trying to see if there's some way to leave the chest flipped up in tank mode but I don't think so since it looks like the arms have to swing there to form the turret. If the chestplate was removable altogether...

Now that's a gallery I'd love to see!
-Generations/RTS Perceptor
-Generations Whirl
-Generations Swerve
-Generations Skids
-Generations Drift
-Universe/Generations Cyclonus
-Beast Hunters Weaponizer Ultra Magnus (because that's be in the same size class as Megs, if MP Ultra Magnus is unavailable)
-Fall of Cybertron data disc Rewind
-TFCC(?) Chromedome (the TF Prime Wheeljack re-tool)

This post has most I was going to add along with the 3 Seibertron listed. But I would do TFCC Chromedome and Rewind. Nightbeat, Hoist, Trailbreaker and Sunstreaker too maybe.

Trying to recreate this pic in toy form as best as you could would be awesome:Seibertron wrote:If I did an Autobot group shot with "Autobot" Megatron, which 1/2 dozen figures from the past few years would you like to see with Megatron? Due to scale, that shot is not possible with the toys. Here's what I came up with instead ... it's got all of the characters in the right spot in relation to Megatron plus I left the other toys from the Lost Light in the shot as well.
And the group shot ...

Where the tampo'd symbol is is where G1 Megatron's chest symbol has always been. They just shaped the torso on this toy awkwardly to warp the proportions of the G1 chest design into making the main part of the chest smaller and the typically insignificant part directly above it much bigger.Noideaforaname wrote:The insignia thing is weird and annoying, not because I'm against Autobot Megatron, but because they included a sticker for even though they painted that on, and they painted that right below where I'd prefer the insignia and on top of silver paint so I can't just wipe it off.
It really is a weird design choice considering that even the comics don't have the chest drawn like that.

Ah, I see it now. It IS pretty bizarre, especially compared to the screencap BERSEKAEL posted.

It's like the designers gave up by the time they reached them and said "Eh.....two big chunks of plastic are foot-like enough. Let's go get a beer!"
Don't let those feet deter you. They're one of the cooler parts of his transformation, actually. Just think of how much better even those feet are compared to OG Megs.

⇧ My plans for this figure, basically.
Wish the tank barrel didn't stick out of his fusion-cannon like that though.
⇧ Not even in a million years.

I love this shot. Though it's just meant to be between the first Generations Autobot Leader class toy and the first Generations Decepticon Leader class toy, it happens to align with the old European pack-in comic from Milton Bradley that had Jetfire as the Autobot leader instead of Prime:
All hail Megatron's manly chest hairs!

Great figure even if his poseability is limited, but he s a good compliment to masterpiece prime until I can set aside a few bucks for Apolyon.

I like everything about this figure except for the red connectors that are used for the arms. There much too lanky.
All these Megatrons carry on a tradition of having a strange looking crotch design. This new Emperor of Destruction is sporting an odd red knob.

Similarly, the last addition from Wave 2 to the Aerialbots, Air Raid, can finally become a limb for Silverbolt's torso mode, and together with Alpha Bravo, Skydive and Firefly, plus Legends Powerglide, become Cybertron's (and Starscream's?) main defence. Click on any image below to view the full galleries, updated and reframed, and now including even more comparison shots with previous versions of the characters from G1!

Ultra Prime and Menasor, however, do not have the innovative luxuries that went into the design Superion's torso, as they both instead go the classic G1 toy route of having Optimus and Motormaster remain upright and have their lower legs become the combiner's thighs their arms form part of the combiner's upper chest. This results in a torso that has HUGE thighs formed by big chunky lower legs, a very WIDE upper chest with quite a distance between its shoulders, and the waist (piece) being directly under the chest instead of being further under it, making both Menasor and Ultra Prime have incredibly SQUAT torsos overall with no bellies.
