The Street Fighter Transformers line features four of the most popular characters from both franchises - Convoy [Ryu], Megatron [Vega], Hot Rodimus [Ken] and Arcee [Chun-Li] - who transform into robots from vehicle forms. Ryu, who is a triplechanger, transforms from an airplane to a truck. Hot Rodimus [Ken] transforms into a red sports car, while Arcee (Chun-Li) transforms into a convertible sports car that has Chun-Li's color scheme. Vega transforms from a tank to an aerodynamic fighter jet.
Each figure has a unique transformation sequence, which adds to the excitement of collecting them. And the attention to detail is impressive, with the figures capturing the essence of both franchises. The Street Fighter characters have been given a robotic twist, with their "costumes" and color schemes now incorporating elements of the Transformers universe.
The Takara Tomy Street Fighter Transformers line was a hit with fans, and in 2022, Hasbro re-released the figures with no apparent changes as part of their Transformers Collaborative line to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Street Fighter brand. This means that even more fans can now get their hands on these amazing action figures.
Seibertron.com's comprehensive galleries provide a close look at these figures, showcasing their incredible attention to detail and unique transformations. Whether you're a fan of Street Fighter or Transformers, or just love collecting unique action figures, these toys are a great addition to any collection.
The Takara Tomy Street Fighter X Transformers toys are a fantastic fusion of two iconic franchises. Love the fact that they packaged Megs (Vega) in his Psycho Crusher pose.

For you, mistaking M. Bison for Vega was the most profound blunder of your life, but for me... it was a Wednesday.

These are the Japanese releases. In Japan, M. Bison is known as Lord Vega. When the games came over to the West, Capcom's North American branch decided to switch around the names of Vega, M. Bison, and Balrog.Stormtalon wrote:Don't you see...

I got you!
I only learned about the name switches when I was researching the characters to post the galleries. I knew about Vega and M Bison, but didn't know about the others who had name switches.

If I remember correctly, the name switches was at first because Capcom USA wouldn't take any chances about the obvious reference with the boxer's "M. Bison" name. Then this boxer named "Vega" sounded daff so Barlog had to enter the dance.
I learned about this almost 30 mother fokking years ago in the EGM magazine. Back when video games magazines were relevant and good.

That, plus Capcom felt that the name "Vega" wasn't intimidating enough for the main villain. Frankly, they could have just added the word "Lord" to his name and call him "Lord Vega" to give his name that extra intimidation element, since the Japanese version would have likewise referred to him as "Vega-sama" in a similar fashion.-Kanrabat- wrote:Seibertron wrote:Stormtalon wrote:Thanks. This is basically supposed to Transformers cosplay so changing Prime's head out for someone else would have never worked.

If that's the angle, why not?

Because then there'd be nothing about it recognizable as Prime. May as well be Octane.

That makes Prime a bad cosplayer though. If at least a sticker for the mouthplate featuring a pair of lips drawn in crayon was included, it would have been hilarious and on point with the whole "cosplay" idea.

If anything, Machine Wars Optimus Prime would have worked better
Also, the backstory has the four TF's take on the powers and fighting styles of the SF characters, which happens to be one of the very few instances in Japanese lore that treats Headmasters the US way.

As for Prime's head not being enough like Ryu's, I kinda think it is? It just has to the feeling of Ryu - a quiet, stoic warrior, which I think it does. The faceplate giving a lack of expression actually works in it's favor for me. That's something some of the older crossover toys did poorly; often robotizing appearances making them look like a weird cyborg and not a TF.
Gotta say, one thing I always appreciate about the galleries here are the detailed comparisons. You're never left wanting.
