As with all Voyagers, Galvatron has two alt-modes next to his robot mode: a spaceship mode and the traditional G1 big cannon on treads mode, which never grows old. Titan Master Nucleon, on the other hand, sneakily answers the question 'what if Megatron were a Headmaster' - you can check out both galleries by clicking on any of the images below!

Wonder if they'd ever do one in grey like the original toy and G1 comics? Saying that, this is a nice shade of purple.

The canon is ridiculously big and yeah the head isn't great but in hand it's better in person. I don't mind either of them. I had that unique toys maniaking when I got 3rd party stuff and it's the only one that never broke on me but now he's in his box with the temptation of putting him on eBay.
This is my Galvatron now and he's big, menacing looking and awesome. I would love a toy/comic accurate deco of it because I recently went back and reread regeneration one because I'm stupid and felt like being angry apparently

I came close to Maniaking. If he's boxed now because of this toy, then that's pretty impressive.

Regeneration One is terrible. Go back and read classic Marvel G1. I love a lot of the classic Marvel UK stuff featuring Galvatron. His fights against Megatron have always been fun. He has always been ridiculously OP. It's great fun!

Also: this Galvatron won't replace my Maniaking. Maniaking is just too well proportioned. In cannon mode Hasbro looks a bit better to me, but defiantly not in bot mode.

I just got mine yesterday. I too was on the fence of "I don't need this" it's great and looked awesome but I just felt I don't need it because metroplex sits on a shelf getting dusty. After getting him, I have no regrets. Last night I spent hours with him. He is so much fun I can't wait to get off work today and start playing with him again.

Oh I have, comics are my media and the marvel stuff is great and it's one reason I want a grey/blue and purple Galvatron. Other reason is because of the way he was portrayed in IDW in the past.

His head actually doesn't look too bad without the helmet, to the point that I wish they would've just painted that purple and left out the helmet.
Is the arm cannon assembly removable? So Galvatronus could use it? Also, the jet mode looks like it would work better without it.

Also, some wanted a toy deco of Galvatron, and as yo can see Takara did it last year for Galvatronus

I was already getting this toy no matter what anyway, but this gallery makes me feel all the more confident in that decision. The main thing I'd been worrying about was size and thinking that Galvatron deserved to be a Leader-Class figure. Damn, if he isn't one beefy Voyager-Class though, towing over the recent Cyclonus and looking perfectly capable of going toe-to-toe with Ultra Magnus.
I'm still a little disappointed with the head, or more accurately the helmet, but the cool thing about the Headmaster gimmick is that it's all the easier to replace it if some third party company eventually makes an alternative option.
Posted by frogbat on July 15th, 2016 @ 11:01am CDT
My gripes are as follows - badly cobbled together 3rd jet mode. The cockpit is pretty good and reminds me a bit of the cybertronian seekers. The aft section made up of the legs is rather bad.
In pix, the head and frame didn't seem that bad, in person I find it worse but does not ruin the figure. On a plus side, it will be very easy for 3rd party companies to produce a new head incorporating the head crest etc.
The legs section in canon mode don't stick together as well as I'd like.
Still, gripes aside he looks great. I have him battling CW ultra magnus whilst TR prime battles CW megatron.

Shyeah for a Silverbolt retool(which I did want but didn't leap on due to expenses at the time and now it's sold out everywhere or going for ridiculous aftermarket prices) I want this toy to have that deco. It'll come though probably. Be cool to see a comic two back with him and that new megatron coming with comic colors in the next couple years.

You're right sorry. I must have been thinking of Computron because I'm always looking him up there because their the only place I can find without sold preorders. Still conflicted about him. Now that to Titans Return is here I've lost so much interest in combiners

But I hear you. I just always fear regret.

As do I. I actually sold my entire classics/universe collection back in 2009. Granted it was only 3 years of figures but man it took 5 years to get it all back(excep classics cliff jumper). Biggest regret I've had because I spent probably three times as much as I did the first time on the aftermarket and hunting them down.
Sold the entire animated collection too. Still stings

Yeah...I don't thinks it's terrible. It's the the worst part of the figure no doubt. Maybe I'm just a little generous because mines head doesn't even fit in the port. It just goes it with no security and just falls out without the crown/mask. That gimmick is the only thing that keeps the head on.
Posted by Tharag on July 15th, 2016 @ 1:17pm CDT
As much as I'm inclined to agree the funny thing is that after taking a closer look at the Nucleon galleries, I've become increasingly convinced that the "Halloween mask" crown wasn't ever really necessary in the first place. The base molding details on Nucleon are good enough on their own that all he'd need is an actual paint job and he'd make a perfectly passable had all on his own.Seibertron wrote:It's abysmal! If a good looking third party model comes out I probably still very well jump on it, but in the meantime I might just break my old brush & paints out of retirement.

I disagree. I think it's always been part of the plan. All the voyagers have some kind of gimmick close to their head. Sentinel and Astrotrain have those little pieces that pop up next to their head and it looks like Alpha Trion will be getting one as well from the pictures of his crown pieces on his side increasing.
Similar with the leader class and how they all have a helmet that goes over their headmaster.
Not to mention the crown for Galvatron is integrated into his body, that's not something that'd be an after thought that was quickly put in close to zero hour of design.

Megatron Wolf wrote:If it wasnt for the god awful head this would be a great figure, looks like hes wearing a cheap halloween mask that doesnt fit. When i first saw him i figured it looked off because the rubberband was keeping it from sitting right, took him out of the box and nope its just a piss poor design. The least they could've done was paint the head like the one at botcon, then you wouldnt need the stupid mask. My first titans return figure and im not impressed, hope the others i plan on getting are better
The rest are all solid however like I said right before it looks like Alpha Trion is getting some kind of head gimmick to go over his headmaster which for me doesn't look great. I'll probably not use that because the head alone looks fine.
Posted by Tharag on July 15th, 2016 @ 1:35pm CDT
I think you misunderstood. I never meant to say that the crown was some kind of half-assed afterthought, and I'm well aware that all of the other Voyagers also have similar gimmicks. What I meant is that in Galavatron's case specifically I don't think it was needed, and that with some additional purple paint aps the base headmaster could probably look better without the accessory.Randomhero wrote:I disagree. I understood I'm just saying that regardless of his headmaster, that gimmick would still be there because all the others have some else in relation. None of the voyager gimmicks are needed but for me his doesn't ruin a pretty cool Galvatron. Certainly better than that deluxe.

It looks pretty good when the head is looking straight at you, but from an angle, it just doesn't work. I really hope that they will do a proper head on this figure at some point. There's a ton of extra room to accommodate a proper head in his chest so hopefully they'll do this mold justice at some point by stripping out the Titan Master functionality and replacing it with a proper (and amazing) Galvatron head.
Primus above that is terrible. The chump that thought that was a good idea needs to be shot.

I like that toy in its gray colors, though I prefer the smaller Voyager Class sized toy (though the Leader class goes better against the Leader Optimus toy). The current Titans Return figure beats out the Energon figure because it's an altogether better homage complete with space gun cannon thinga-ma-bobber mode. Plus Titans Return gets points for having a proper cannon on his arm. Titans Return Galvatron is a fantastic Galvatron toy ... sans head. Give that mold a proper Galvatron head and that will probably forever be the best main line Galvatron toy ever (at least until a "Masterpiece" Galvatron comes along).

I have long considered the Voyager/Ultra class version of that mold (including the grey version incidentally) but the somewhat tubby proportions kinda put me off.
That said I would love love LOVE it if Hasbro or Takara released a version of TR Galvatron in Energon Megatron colours:

Ooh... now that's a sweet looking idea which I'd definitely drop more cash on right away without even the slightest hesitation, if it existed. Who knows, it's maybe even something we might actually get too. I mean, Hasbro gave us an Armada homage out of Combiner Wars Megatron, so an Energon homage out of Titans Return Galvatron wouldn't be that much of a stretch. Not to mention that Hasbro usually has some kind of repaint or retool in the works for every figure and other than a G1 toy accurate color scheme, I'm not sure what else they could do with this newest Galvatron.

As much as I don't like more support 3rd parties anymore, a new cheap head by like Dr Wu would help I suppose. However like I said about mine, his is very loose and falls out without his crown so when a different head won't help. In the end I'm fine with what I have.

Well, either way, if the loose connection is a common problem, they'd probably make the connector piece a bit larger to compensate.
