Unlike the other updates to the G1 Headmaster this is a different take on Blurr since this is the first time Blurr is a Headmaster. This doesn't stop the toy from also being the most faithful update to his original 1986 toy that we have gotten so far. It should also be remembered, that G1 Blurr did get a gimmick update one year later by being rereleased as a Targetmaster. His 1987 Targetmaster gun partner, Haywire, is partly homaged by his new Titan Master, Hyperfire.

That said, I'm still considering Animated Blurr. I love that design.

I am curious to know where those 2 lie on anyone's list of top 5 Blurr toys.

Well Legends Blurr probably wins due to being the definitive G1 Blurr (thus far)...but I'd say the Animated figure would be a close second. I assume, don't actually own it yet.
As for top 5 Blurrs, there haven't been that many, so I'd probably list it as:
5: The G1 toy, as for a vintage figure it's fairly animation accurate (and also pretty good looking in car mode).
4: Armada Blurr, which despite being a brick is a very stylish brick, with a sweet as hell car mode and a good looking, if inarticulate, robot mode.
3: Generations Blurr, which although not very Blurr-ish is still a good toy by virtue of being based on the superb Drift mold (which I must buy some day) and coming with some cool weapons.
2: Animated Blurr, which is awesomely poseable, nicely styled and extremely unique (plus is a nice homage to the cancelled TransTech Cheetor).
1: Takara Legends Blurr, for being the only even remotely G1-accurate official Blurr figure since the 80s, Headmaster aside. (And by the looks of things a good toy to boot provided they don't botch the plastic).

Galvatron is the one I'm most concerned with. I can't get over how cool the rest of him is but his head is a disaster. Form follows function failed miserably with Galvatron.

It's too bad Scourge makes no attempt to blend the HM's arms into his face, like all the other HMs have done. Dunno if space was an issue or if they were intentionally giving him antennae for whatever reason, but he looks rather bad compared to the others.

Well the artwork looks like it has antennas. But that could be motion blur from the head attaching.

Blaster, on the other hand, is the latest update for the Autobot from 1985, bringing robot, boombox and a passable base mode for Titan Master playability and cross-compatible with most figure classes in the Titans Retun line. Check out the full galleries by clicking on any of the images below!

Noideaforaname wrote:^ There's that, and the art does avoid being blindly literal (i.e. screws, those slots opposite ball joints, etc.). But it doesn't match Scourge's classic head design, so I kinda feel like I'm supposed to, well, pretend they don't exist.
I don't see any screws.. Are you and I looking at the same artwork? Or am I looking at a different one?

My two gripes with this guy are the re use of ultra magnus' black guns. In fact I don't think I'll be the only one to give each a matching pair. And he really needs ankle tilts more than Ultra magnus.

Also, that sparkly blue plastic Scourge and Fracas are molded from looks an awful lot like it'd be prone to GPS. I really hope I'm wrong but given the recent trend for wonky QC and cheap plastic...I'm worried.

I think the toughest thing on the headmasters is getting any detail onto the tiny robot faces let alone paint. Sieberton's incredible close-up's of the robot faces unfortunately brings out every blemish when in reality, the heads are so tiny you would barely notice some things without magnification (especially if you are over 35). Of the ones I have in hand, the plastic on all of them looks a little better than the photos, but the details are much harder to see with my own (aging) eyes.
I'm a little worried about GPS on Scourge myself, but so far he feels pretty solid.

Well, TT's managing to paint all the headmasters quite thoroughly in non-head mode, so, it can be done, hasbro simply isn't

Takara confirmed there wont be the god bomber armor since they are doing Super Ginrai and not God Ginrai. Well at last thats what is written on the sketch they released of the upcoming toy.

What about a separately sold Godbomber?

That just means that if any Godbomber were to be made it would come separately from Takara's figure, like how the original Godbomber was also a separate release from Super Ginrai.william-james88 wrote:Ultra Markus wrote:i hope there will be some god bomber armor for him, maybe takara will work some magic

Dive right in below with the new biggest Transformers figure out there, beating Generations Metroplex by not that much: Titan class Fortress Maximus, with Cerebros and Titan Master Emissary! The latter looks like Headmaster Spike of old, but with Cerebros' headsculpt, and Fort Max himself is shown off in city mode, battle station mode, robot mode, compared to a number of big bots and within the Titans Return line itself - plus a special human guest for further comparison, too. Check it all out by clicking on any of the images below!

Titans Return Cerebros (99 images) - Deluxe Class, Titan Class

haha, ok, I will stop teasing.
Its possible to put his head there but just like its possible to put any object of that size. It just rests there but nothing locks.

I'm really bummed about the lack of a gun. It just cheapens the whole experience and kind of makes me feel taken advantage of because you know it was removed to save on costs. Instead of doing it right. In my ongoing battle against 3rd party unlicensed Transformers products, this just opens the door for someone to make a set of compatible guns for ol' Fort Max (though I've never had a problem with aftermarket accessories for Transformers, comparing it to the automotive market).
Fort Max, while he looks good in robot mode, ultimately just feels kind of half assed. The "leftovers" from Metroplex such as the legs splitting open and the right arm having the joint to move the whole arm in front of his body serve no purpose that I can tell. Don't get me wrong -- I really like Fort Max still, but he just seems less than Metroplex to me since Metroplex was so amazing and upscaled an awesome G1 toy by more than double.
Cerebros is the surprise piece from this set that I really liked. He finally has a proper toy that is worthy of the character. His original G1 version was kind of a short stumpy toy, but this one looks like he could lead the regular sized Headmasters. This version of him finally comes with a head that looks like he did in the comics and US cartoons. He's finally a proper action figure! He's even got a gun. I would have liked to see him have his traditional gun in addition to the "titan master" compatible gun, but considering that Fort Max didn't come with any guns I'll take what we got. Great update. Clobber looks awesome on him. Paint apps were a bit messed up on Cerebro's face but I'll take care of that later. I also like that Cerebros is big. Not quite a Voyager, but much larger than a deluxe.
Spike Emissary is also a nice update. I love that his head sculpt is the G1 cartoon and (more prominently) the Marvel Comics helmet. Nice touch!

Decepticon Stryker wrote:This looks great! I do have one question though.. what's up with everyone complaining about Galvatron? How does the Headmaster gimmick ruin it?
I don't mind him being a "Headmaster", it's just that it was extremely poorly executed. Galvatron's "head" has been reduced to an ill-conceived "mask" that only covers up the front part of a Titan Master "head". Had it been done along the lines of the helmets for Leader Class Galvatron or Optimus, it might have been better executed, but as it is, it's just a mess. The biggest issue is that the Titan Master face sits way too far back from the "mask" which just alway makes it look extremely off. The head rotates at a different angle from the mask as well so the angle of his face looking "ok" is extremely limited. And then there's the massive gap on the sides of his face from the mask. Hopefully I'll have his photos done tomorrow so that I can show you exactly what I mean with high res close-ups.
