Kind of crazy how much of a difference this is compared to the last ime we had legion Ultra Magnus toys in a show series. Last time, not only did we get an optimus retool (and a nice retool at that) but we also had another one which was a complete new mold!
And now we just get a redeco.

Not that it matters but aren't those Cyberverse figures?william-james88 wrote:Kind of crazy how much of a difference this is compared to the last ime we had legion Ultra Magnus toys in a show series. But yes, I agree some of the legion figures are not created equally.

Cyberverse had two Classes: Legion and the bigger Commander, with the latter no longer in use. Those figures up there are Commander Class.

Yeah, they are cyberverse and this RID LEgion class is what replaced the cyberverse figures.

The choice of apps they went with is undeniably clever - can't fault choosing areas that are seen in both mode - but it still looks too much like an finely detailed white brick for my liking.

Is it still a re-mold if every part is new and only the transformation is the same?

Nope.
...oh wait, that was probably rhetorical...

Its not rhetorical. Just a legit question. Because whatever the answer people give (and I think both yes and no are legit) would be the same answer to the fabled question "Is Chromedome a retool of Dead End". I still think there is a different between these examples and toys that share similar transformations since these are legitimate attempts at replicating a transformation, and they do copy a previous engineering design. So while it isnt a retool per say, I still think its less original in a way. But thats just me.

I say NO. Reusing a particular transformation scheme has been done plenty of time, especially with simpler toys. Such figures are not considered retools, otherwise almost every Micromaster would be related to one another.
Retools are purely physical in nature, as they involve changing or switching out already existing parts. Reusing transformations is part of the design phase on paper, no existing parts involved. That's the main difference.
The AoE One-Steps had less variety in transformations, having only 4 to 5 schemes. Yet we didn't consider them retools...

I really like that he has working pincers, which is something I would have loves Clampdown to have. And plus he has knee articulation.

It's fairly poseable for what it is. The only issue I have is that you can't hide the "claw" deployer feature on it. If you could fold it back out of the way or something, it'd be a much better toy. Either way, it seems much better than the prior 3 deployers and the gimmick seems much less obtrusive than it does on Drift and Fracture.
Speaking of whom, I didn't do comparison shots with the other Hasbro Deployers because I ended up doing it with the the Takara Micronshooters since I hadn't posted Takara's Fracture and Drift galleries yet. I simply added group shots of all 4 of those together and will hopefully have all 10 of those galleries posted in the near future. Normally I save the big group shots for the Hasbro galleries and try to stick to "release date" mates or Hasbro comparisons with the Takara products, which is not necessarily a set rule, just something I try to stick to keep everyone flowing timewise.

I forgot about those guys. Maybe I'll bust them out for an upcoming Beast Wars Tuesdays set since I haven't done the Beast Wars Eggs yet either.

This is like Beast Machines levels of show/toy deviation.

TAV24 Fracture is the Japanese counterpart to the Robots in Disguise Deployer figure from Hasbro - which you can see here - and alongside a tweaked colour palette (with the lighter lilac purple so very prominent) we also get two Micron figures, scorpion-like Sandsting and bullet-kid Airazor. On the other hand, TAV27 Drift - as opposed to the Hasbro Drift set seen here - comes with his regulars Slipstream and Jetstorm. All Microns include the clear plastic armour pieces too, and you can check out the whole set of images below, by clicking on any of the included images!
