Similarly, the last addition from Wave 2 to the Aerialbots, Air Raid, can finally become a limb for Silverbolt's torso mode, and together with Alpha Bravo, Skydive and Firefly, plus Legends Powerglide, become Cybertron's (and Starscream's?) main defence. Click on any image below to view the full galleries, updated and reframed, and now including even more comparison shots with previous versions of the characters from G1!

LOST Cybertronian wrote:It is time for another entry into the galleries of Seibertron. The big bad himself Megatron comes to you in high quality pictoral form. This is the G1 deco of Combiner Wars Leader Class Megatron inspired by his G1 animation model. Megatron comes with stickers to make him either a Decepticon or Autobot (see semi recent issues of the IDW comics for that story) as well as G1 details. You can also check out the retooled Armada version as well. As always, click the images below to see the full galleries.

Ultra Prime and Menasor, however, do not have the innovative luxuries that went into the design Superion's torso, as they both instead go the classic G1 toy route of having Optimus and Motormaster remain upright and have their lower legs become the combiner's thighs their arms form part of the combiner's upper chest. This results in a torso that has HUGE thighs formed by big chunky lower legs, a very WIDE upper chest with quite a distance between its shoulders, and the waist (piece) being directly under the chest instead of being further under it, making both Menasor and Ultra Prime have incredibly SQUAT torsos overall with no bellies.

Sabrblade wrote:The main problems with both Menasor and Ultra Prime in comparison to Superion are the proportions of their torsos. Superion's torso used the brilliant move of turning Silverbolt upside-down to make Silverbolt's arms become Superion's thighs, and Silverbolt's legs form the upper torso. This made for a much better-proportioned torso overall with Superion's thighs being reasonably small but not too small and his upper chest being adequately shaped without being too bulky. And above all, Superion's waist is a good distance below his chest thanks to Superion's torso being (for lack of a better tern) tall enough.

Menasor's and Ultra Prime's main problem lays in not being able to ecstatically extend the upper body. Superion achieves this by merging the legs with Silverbolt's body, but Menasor has no such luxury.

So true, this is a very disappointing figure/combiner. The proportions are just too off to look good. The upside is that the individual vehicles modes aren't too bad looking.

Offroad, on the other hand, looks well proportioned, solid, and I simply love face sculpt. Plus, the hood behind his head adds a good deal of character. The non-G1 team members are 2 for 2 so far.

Also, so long as Megatron truly shows to have changed, I'm going to put those Autobot symbols on him. I like Autobot Megatron a lot. Roberts has done a great job with him.

According to Hasbro, these will be available around May 22nd.
May 22 – AERIALBOT QUICKSLINGER and STUNTICON BRAKE-NECK will be available exclusively through participating online retailers, such as Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Target.com, ToysRUs.com, Entertainment Earth, BigBadToyStore, Diamond Comics and Hasbro Toy Shop. Those are the Asian exclusive CW stickers (not Japan). Not sure what I think of them yet. They're OK but a lot of similar tech detail that uses a lot of unimaginative circles and rectangle shapes.

Thanks for the clarification. I think what I like most about the stickers is that they provider more "pop" to the figures, at least color-wise. The shapes don't really bother me.

Quickslinger's tosses in the word "shot" in the same sentence with "sling".

Yeah, and the Superion diagram is a mess. They've been swapping names in the diagram for Firefly and Skydive from the start so now he has two Skydives for legs, one named Quickslinger and one named Firefly.
If anyone is curious about the comics, Brake-Neck comes with Combiner Wars #8 just like Dead End. Quickslinger comes with CW #3, likely the comic that Firefly will come with when those wave 1 comic packs are released. I think it would have been smarter to include Alpha Bravo and Offroad's respective comics instead.

I would prefer to have 4 unique limbs but will take Slingshot and Wildrider over Alpha Bravo and Offroad regardless of this. It doesn't seem as obvious on Menasor because Dead End should be an arm and Wildrider should be a leg. On Superion where Fireflight and Slingshot are both arms, it's a little more glaring that you've got two of the same vehicle mold. I think I'll make one of them a leg for Superion so that it doesn't seem so obvious in future galleries.

For me personally I found that I didn't care since these molds were clearly made with Slingshot and Wildrider in mind no matter what they're called. Firefly's jet mode is much closer to Slingshot's than Fireflight's G1 figure and to be entirely honest I think Quickslinger turned to be better than Firefly because of it. The Dead End figure doesn't have a rear window molded in, a fake one is painted in while the original G1 Wildrider didn't have a rear window either so they definitely had that in mind even if it does look funny.
What I find jarring is that the Aerialbots are painstakingly G1 in all of their modes (except for being backwards as legs) while the Stunticons are all entirely unique designs we've never seen before. It's a strange design choice and I think the Aerialbots turned out better for sticking to their roots.

I've checked Air Raid's and Skydive's card backs and wouldn't you know it, the schematic has Firefly as an arm too. Odd.
Given that Firefly and Dead End were the "parent molds" so to speak, it would make sense for Quicksling and Brake-Neck to include their comics. I agree though that Alpha Bravo's and Offroad's comics would be better, as to avoid collecting double issues.

I feel like Aerialbots are "easier" engineering-wise, since the wings, nosecone and tail become kibble, so really they just need to turn a long box into a tall boxy robot. Also I'd argue that with jets it's easier to get away with trademark dodging. The Stunticons however suffer from having wildly edited G1 character models and actual proper car modes (albeit trademark-dodging ones) so choices had to be made.

Since Galvatron II uses the toy's pale deco, they could make Ferak the same pale color.

LAME.
I am actually glad because I need a break from Hasbro sucking my wallet clean with the first three real combiners. Just two to go, Bruticus and Devastator, and they can put this line in the can for all I care. If I thought we would get Computron or Predaking, then I would be interested. But, instead we get two LAME combiners. Once of which was created for political purposes rather than to make the fans happy. And they claim the fans "created" it. The sad thing is some of you believe it.....

That's not Victorion this is Galvatronus.
Computron's components are kinda dead in the comics except for Scattorshot and Strafe so I think their waiting plus Rook looks to be a nosecone remold and Hasbro probably does not want to confuse kids with the Predacons right now since it hasn't been too long since Beast Hunters ended.
What is sad though is you actually believing that the voting was rigged that and insulting the rest of us.
Seriously all your posts seem to be about complaining or call bullcrap on something.
