This is my first time seeing DOTM Laserbeak(outside of that milisecond in the Trailer), and is it wrong that my first impression of his face was that it reminded me of a sterotypical asian?

But looking at it some more, I realized it was actually something else entirely, The Giant Claw. James Rolfe can fill you in better than I can about him(mostly cause I've never seen the film):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0w3FcVe9gc

So yes ladies and gentlemen, to me Laserbeak is a clear homage to The Giant Claw.

I have no idea what to think about this figure. I think I may have to get it because it's so bizzare.

The alt. mode looks good though, and gives off a strong G1 Cybertronian Laserbeak vibe.

Laserbeak's robot mode is very Giant Claw-like, while his alt mode is:
Image
a LOT like the Sigma Six Dragonhawk

I've already got enough Starscreams, but I think I may pick up the Thundercracker (and eventual Skywarp) repaint; the mold looks fantastic. While a new head would've been nice, the different "tattoo" pattern and the bold colors contrasts nicely with Starscream's. (here's hoping Skywarp has his own unique tats)

Autobot Thundercracker? Look at his shoulder.

Just for the promo shot.

Is it just me, or does Laserbeak's alt mode make a better bird mode than his bird mode?

The person that designed that Laserbeak should be ashamed of themselves.

I'll never buy another Mudflap again, not after that awful ROTF Deluxe. Don't want the seekers in deluxe form, and Bumblebee can bugger off. That leaves Laserbeak... nah.

Man. All these figure have those sleepy, been-hitting-the-bong-all-afternoon eyes. Keep an eye on Laserbeak or he'll eat all the chips and cookies in your apartment.

Laserbeak is just awful and i would if the person who designed him worked for Seth Green and Robot Chicken show?

Mudflap is a flop

B-Bee looks like a rag-tag KO

TCracker - is ok, but a seeker should be a voyager class, but either way all of these are a pass for me.

Thundercracker is ok but the res are garbage, Bumblebee looks like a KO not a hasbro release. Glad i dont care about this line cause if i did id be pissed at how lackluster hasbro is with making these figures.

Damn mudflap look so damn FAT...I bet even Leadfoot is not that fat -.-...Kudos hasbro for taking a major degradation of the Mudflap mold >.>.

Nitro Bumblebee looks epic in vehicle mode but really weak in robot mode @_@...I mean there's alot of unpainted spots and I dont like how the codpiece and his arms look.

Thundercracker...meh.In my opinion the mold looks okay but the paint apps is amazing though :D.But I already have Leader Starscream and I dont really like Thundercracker to begin with so...Yeah xP.

Laserbeak...Well let's just say if I ever buy that please shoot me in the head with a frickin sniper rifle X_X :BANG_HEAD: :BOOM: . Though the pic with him perch on Megatron's arm is epic though =P~ But still doesnt convince me to buy him with the ugly head and all >.>

I think the only deluxe I liked so far is Topspin and DOTM Bumblebee :D the rest is an easy pass.

At least the new textures give Bumblebee (and friends) SOMETHING to differentiate them from the past two dozen Bumblebees we've already seen. I know they sell, but I wish we could get other characters...

....like a consistently sized seeker lineup in both sizes. :D

So all I see is another shamefully designed seeker jet with crappy ass G1 tribute, a better look at Retardo-bot because that is what IT and that green one are, and a better look at a flying metal turkey...right? The only thing that barley saves this so called Laserbeak is that alternate flight mode.

Does anyone know how many more TF live movies to expect so I can try to expect more craptacular Bayformers in the future? I hated ROTF Ravage but someone should (when possible) pose Ravage with this dump Laserbeak in his jaws, it would be a great look for them both packaged Hasbro....'nuff said! :VEHI:

Thanks for sharing indeed, they might as well have used this bird than what Hasbro chose to dump on us. Just slap some panels on it to give it that robot look and done....'nuff said! :VEHI:

Ravage doesn't look too bad... BUT it's a shameless rip off of the Giger Alien with the head of Gypsy from MST3K. Seriously. Do a side by side comparison. I almost peed myself when I did. I hear "robot roll call" every time I see him in the movie.

On that note, when is there going to be a MST3K of the new movies AT Botcon? Too early? ;)

What an exotic bird Laserbeak looks like. But after sometime I'm really start to like his weird appearance.

What I dislike in this figure is: why his alternate mode needs to be another bird/aircraft ? I would prefer a alternate mode more like a capsule or missile.

Found Laserbeak at TRU today and bought him. He is the only deluxe class I've seen that
has any appeal to me. He'll fit in just fine w/ Ravage and Scorponok, also his Mechtech weapon is a BFG. I think when some people churn out some custom paint jobs on this guy people will see the potential. Until then continue to hate.

Does Laserbeak have teeth around his eyes like the Corinthian from The Sandman? They all look like crap IMO, though I wouldn't mind Laserbeak's weapons as additional weapons for some real TFs.

That was not my initial thought, but I like the idea :-)

Really would appreciate if some 3rd party companies started producing movieverse toys.
The intrinsic bad quality of most DOTM toys is a great opportunity that shouldn't be missed: just imagine all the new Deluxe and Voyager molds upgraded and re-designed to be in the same scale as the ROTF toys, and with a decent paint-job.

On top of that, there are several figures that are missing in the official Hasbro/Takara movieverse portfolio: a better Voyager Ratchet, Leader-sized Fallen, Black-out and Bonecrusher, several decepticon Protoforms from ROTF, and a couple of constructicons.

Yeah, I'm not on board with the movie toys... but I agree it's crazy to be missing characters when there has been three full movie toy lines. I guess you can see what sells. Lots of bee.

Sure, Bee is very popular with the kids. And for the sake of the franchising profitability, I understand that HasTak really needs to concentrate efforts on OP and BB and give less attention to the "supporting-role" characters.

Fortunately 3rd party companies do exist to cater for the adult collector market. I just start collecting because of the movies and therefore I only own movieverse toys. That's the reason I miss so much a 3rd party company that focus on the movie's design and aesthetic. Maybe this market is not big enough, but it will be one day.

Back to the subject: it is such a pity that the Constructicons received so little attention by HasTak. Every time I spot a construction machine I imagine what badass decepticon it could be. And there are some many different designs and sizes... But it seems that boys nowadays are not so impressed by construction machines. They just want yellow camaros :-)

Yeah, with this modern era... I can't believe that they couldn't deliver a Devastator with transforming limbs. Huge bummer.

But yeah, same way... the Constructicons and Insecticons have gotten shafted for the past years.

Maybe Hasbro has something up their sleeves to unveil at Botcon. Here's hopin'....

My thoughts on these four figures ...

Thundercracker - I'm always up for more Seekers. Give me Skywarp and I'm a happy camper. If they start doing the conehead repaints out of this mold though ... stick with it and give us all 3 or give me Sunstorm!

Laserbeak - I like this guy. I thought the front of the vehicle mode was what they were passing off for the head on this toy so I was pleasantly surprise once I had it in hand that that was not the case and that the toy did have a legit turkey head. Is this what I had hoped for in a movie universe Laserbeak? Not really ... but I like it and I'm happy to have a fairly cool toy based off the dragon/buzzard thing we saw in the trailer, especially so fast after the launch of the DOTM toys. It's a fun toy ... if you liked Ravage in the ROTF line, I'd highly recommend that you get this toy.

Nitro Bumblebee - yes, another Bumblebee. Imagine them making another toy of arguably the most popular character in the movie universe. Bumblebee is our Luke Skywalker. Deal with it. At least this version of Bumblebee is another 100% entirely brand new mold that introduces some new concepts to his transformation. It's not the best 'Bee out there ... I think the HFTD or first DOTM one might take the cake for that, but it's still pretty good, especially in vehicle mode. I'd recommend the first DOTM 'Bee over this one if you're on the fence about which one to get, but this one's cool too.

Mudflap - I didn't realize until I had him in hand that he and Skids were the same vehicle mode now. I like that idea, for twins, much better than how they were represented in ROTF. It's pretty amazing how they took the identical vehicle mode, made the toys basically the same exact size, yet have them transform entirely differently from one another into two unique robot modes. Kudos to the designers on this. I like this version of Mudflap, possibly more than his ROTF incarnation. It's a better toy than DOTM Skids too (mostly because of the knees issue on Skids). It's a nice overall representation of this character. Not my favorite, and I'm already burned out on overly black Transformers in this line already, but I'll take him cause he's a new mold (as is his Legends counterpart in case you didn't notice).

I saw these guys at TRU this week, but I didn't get any of this wave. I almost got myself either Laserbeak of Nitro Bee, but I got Sideswipe instead. Nitro Bee looks interesting though, with all the MechTech ports for additional weaponry.

Hey, this is the absolute last movie. I wouldn't doubt that they'd summarize all the characters into a "grand finale" line.

That would be awesome ! I would very happy as well if those characters were released (let's say on a yearly basis) as part of the Movie Masterpiece sub-line.

I love the Seibertron's galleries; they really come in handy when I'm trying to decide whether to buy a certain fig or not.

Strangely, Laserbeak is growing on me. I might have to paint his wings silver, though. Maybe some dry-brushing. Not crazy about the head sculpt, but I do like his mechtech weapon. Classics Cliffjumper needs a BFG to blast Decepticons with, and this looks perfect for him.

Laserbeak- The only thing that really turns me off about him is the Giant Claw head. I'll wait for the Buzzsaw repaint, unless its neon green (I hope not).

Mudflap- This might very well be the worst DOTM toy I've seen thus far. PASS.

Nitro Bumblebee- Not bad, not bad. I might have to get this one. He seems like a neat little figure.

Thundercracker- Mine. Give me Skywarp and Sunstorm, and the world will be perfect.
