That's why I'm looking forward the MPM version. It WILL come, I'm pretty sure.

I hope some of you were able to capitalize on the narrow window Leader Blackout and Grimlock were available yesterday. Optimus and Starscream were too, but also quickly went out of stock. As of 8:54 AM Central Time today, Optimus is back in stock

Damn i haven't seen that in a while.
I think I may pass on Prime for now cos I have the AoE and TLK voyagers and spruced them up with paint and Toyhax stickers and while I like the new toy I don't neeeed it like I neeeeed Starscream (since I don't have any other Starscreams at moment since selling off the Deluxe a lil while ago). I can't wait to finally have an awesome Voyager Screamer. When are the next wave of figures due? Cos I want that RotF Megatron to place next to Starscream.

3 months or so from now

Times changed, man.
G1 TF's in 80s look like cheap prices today. £3.95 for a jumpstarter, £14 for Prime, £22.95 for Jetfire. And nowadays even a little Legion class costs about £10 to £14 depending on the store.

Have they? Once you calculate for inflation:
£3.95 for a jumpstarter
£12 today.
£14 for Prime
£43 today.
£22.95 for Jetfire.
£70 today.
Isn't that about what you pay for similar figures today? A true modern Jumpstarter would probably hover around the Legends price like those Avengers Flip and Attack Transformers from a few years ago. A figure like Prime, around Deluxe size, with a large trailer and lots of accessories would probably cost more than a Voyager. And Jetfire's price is about what you pay for a Leader these days, right? Seems about right.

That's kinda what I meant but didn't have the stats (thanks Sigma Magnus and @grhmthmsn ) for it. It's weird looking at these old prices thinking they seem like bargains with today's money but we just had less money back then cos it was worth more and such.
Posted by -Kanrabat- on April 3rd, 2018 @ 5:43pm CDT
60$ for an Atari 2600 console was 200$US when it came out in 1977. That's more than 800$US in today's money. And a single cartridge of a deep-bee-boop game?... In 1977, there were 20$US, meaning more than 80$ in todays money.
So, yeah, today we got it good.

With prices looking the way they are what will they be like once they start the movie series up again? Will we get to the point where voyagers are £45 and think that's normal?

Street Fighter II on SNES was about £60 new, and it's weird to think I paid about £40 for Mega Man 2 on my NES back then when the rom file unzipped is only 256 kilobyte which is an insanely tiny amount of data compared to today's games. And yet I still enjoy it. I like some modern games but I generally find myself playing more retro type stuff anyways. A good game is a good game no matter the age.
Agent 53 wrote:I'd rather a Backpack than the roof to be a mass of folding that's a nightmare to manage and never fits back together. I still remember ROTF Mixmaster, I once managed to get him into robot mode then never managed to Alt form him again.
Oddly I didn't have much trouble with him. It took time but I enjoyed it.

Ah, the "legendary difficult" transformers. Somehow, I can transform him just fine. Without ever looking at the instructions even once! He's fiddly, yes, but there's nothing annoying about him and everything go well.
However, MPM Bee and Optimus, those two are NOT FUN AT ALL to put back into vehicle mode. The panels-pop-in-n-out syndrome is what make me rage the most.

I too enjoy the retro games a lot more, the days of the mega drive were the days of my youth, learning sonic 2 by muscle memory
I didn't gave too much trouble with mixmaster, I found alternators wheeljack much more annoying. Still I wonder if they ever had any plans to do movieverse characters that actually never appeared in the movies...like wreckage, now that was one cool toy, as was his bludgeon repaint.

Yeah I do miss non-movie movie toys. Some of them had some really unique molds and ideas, some of my faves including RotF Bludgeon (cos it's my fave Decepticon toy ever), 2007 Arcee, RotF Mindwipe/Skystalker, Dropkick, Breacher, Hubcap, Brimstone, Wreckage, and Longarm and could count Insecticon since while they did appear on screen, they're too small to be comparable to the toy which was a rather neat and articulated lil creature and probably my fave attempt at any insect Transformer in both robot and bug form.

Has anyone else found any other studio series at TRU besides Thundercracker?
Posted by william-james88 on April 4th, 2018 @ 11:01pm CDT
With the common distribution woes, many fans have opted to go online so hopefully this helps. They are bound to sell quickly. For those looking for them at brick and mortar, friend to the site Scottimus Prime has found the DCPI numbers for target (which are good for the entire line) and they are: 087-065842 (leader), 087-065840 (voyager), 087-065835 (deluxe). This can be used on brickseek to see if there are any in stock.
And now, here are the amazon listings:
Transformers Studio Series 08 Leader Class Movie 1 Decepticon Blackout 49.99
Transformers Studio Series 07 Leader Class Movie 4 Grimlock 49.99
Transformers Studio Series 06 Voyager Class Movie 1 Starscream 29.99
Transformers Studio Series 05 Voyager Class Movie 2 Optimus Prime 29.99

dang... that scene with Prime and Bones was awesome and a decade later we still can't reproduce it well with figures.
can a 3P/KO company upscale the deluxe (with some improvements) if nothing else?
