Thanks to a heads up from Seibertronian Sabrblade, we have news that the Transformers: Studio Series has joined the ranks of toy lines such as Combiner Wars and The Last Knight that have gotten a commercial! The new commercial, uploaded by Hasbro's Youtube page, gives us a 16 second look into the line featuring clips of Bumblebee transforming up close for the first time on screen in his 1977 Camaro body in the 2007 movie, and Optimus Prime's forest fight from Revenge of the Fallen, seeing both merge into the backdrop that comes with each figure and then the toy itself.

You can check out this new commercial below, and let us know what you think of the new line, with all the cool and interesting new takes on the old movie characters we love, below!

Thanks to Weibo user 赛博坦之声88 via a retweet from sponsor TFsource, we have some new in-hand images of the wave 2 deluxe Jazz figure! These new images show the toy from the front, side, and rear, clearly showing us his kibble as well as how his design will work. Jazz has had only 3 molds, dating back several years, which included a less than stellar Legion figure, a decent but very limited deluxe, and a killer human alliance figure that many consider to be the ultimate movie Jazz figure.

How does this new figure appear to stack up to those 3? Are you going to be adding him to your collection? Let us know in the comments section below!

Time to wait for more images and see if he'll be shorter than the Deluxe Bee of the line. If he is, then I hope Hasbro makes a trilogy style Bumblebee (either MV1, ROTF, or DOTM) that's the same height as TLK Bee since it'd be taller than SS Bee.

That car roof backpack is lazy as hell. But heh, deluxe. I will still grab that Jazz though. May be the only deluxe of the entire line that I'll get.

Now, to wait for MPM Jazz and see if it can beat the amazing HA version.

I haven't had much interest in MPMs, but I'd buy the absolute heck out of an MPM Jazz.

The backpack makes me kinda not want him, but I've dealt with worse so I do still want him. Just wish they could've done something to make it look better, like do a bit of folding like the original deluxe.

He looks better than I thought he did! Backpack could have been managed better but overall it's still a decent Jazz to get! Only thing I've been waiting for is an MPM Jazz and this fills the gap for now, IMO ;)^

Backpack looks acceptable to me. It's fairly flat and that's good. The figure itself looks a lot of fun and a nice improvement over the 2007 Deluxe (which I still like even with it's weird arms but yay this one can actually hold things in it's hands!). A definite purchase for me. :)

He sorta looks like he's saluting in that photo and it's sorta adorable.

A UK seller on ebay has Starscream for £33.99 so I've ordered one assuming that'll be roughly store price like TLK voyagers were and this has free postage. I'd like Prime too that they have but I haven't loads of money.

Damn i haven't seen that in a while. :P

I think I may pass on Prime for now cos I have the AoE and TLK voyagers and spruced them up with paint and Toyhax stickers and while I like the new toy I don't neeeed it like I neeeeed Starscream (since I don't have any other Starscreams at moment since selling off the Deluxe a lil while ago). I can't wait to finally have an awesome Voyager Screamer. :D When are the next wave of figures due? Cos I want that RotF Megatron to place next to Starscream.

Times changed, man.

G1 TF's in 80s look like cheap prices today. £3.95 for a jumpstarter, £14 for Prime, £22.95 for Jetfire. And nowadays even a little Legion class costs about £10 to £14 depending on the store.

You can largely blame inflation for that. Credit to @grhmthmsn on Twitter, here's some G1 toy prices in today's money.

Have they? Once you calculate for inflation:

£3.95 for a jumpstarter

£12 today.

£14 for Prime

£43 today.

£22.95 for Jetfire.

£70 today.

Isn't that about what you pay for similar figures today? A true modern Jumpstarter would probably hover around the Legends price like those Avengers Flip and Attack Transformers from a few years ago. A figure like Prime, around Deluxe size, with a large trailer and lots of accessories would probably cost more than a Voyager. And Jetfire's price is about what you pay for a Leader these days, right? Seems about right.

That's kinda what I meant but didn't have the stats (thanks Sigma Magnus and @grhmthmsn :) ) for it. It's weird looking at these old prices thinking they seem like bargains with today's money but we just had less money back then cos it was worth more and such.

On a side note, video games may be still be "expensive" today, but it's NOTHING compared to the "good old days".

60$ for an Atari 2600 console was 200$US when it came out in 1977. That's more than 800$US in today's money. And a single cartridge of a deep-bee-boop game?... In 1977, there were 20$US, meaning more than 80$ in todays money.

So, yeah, today we got it good.

You don't have to go too far back to see outrageous prices, on n64 launch day, Turvok cost £70, a price that luckily didn't last long. Neo Geo games as well were legendarily expensive, with some going for £200 out of the gate.

With prices looking the way they are what will they be like once they start the movie series up again? Will we get to the point where voyagers are £45 and think that's normal?

I'd rather a Backpack than the roof to be a mass of folding that's a nightmare to manage and never fits back together. I still remember ROTF Mixmaster, I once managed to get him into robot mode then never managed to Alt form him again.

Street Fighter II on SNES was about £60 new, and it's weird to think I paid about £40 for Mega Man 2 on my NES back then when the rom file unzipped is only 256 kilobyte which is an insanely tiny amount of data compared to today's games. And yet I still enjoy it. I like some modern games but I generally find myself playing more retro type stuff anyways. A good game is a good game no matter the age. :)

Ah, the "legendary difficult" transformers. Somehow, I can transform him just fine. Without ever looking at the instructions even once! He's fiddly, yes, but there's nothing annoying about him and everything go well.

However, MPM Bee and Optimus, those two are NOT FUN AT ALL to put back into vehicle mode. The panels-pop-in-n-out syndrome is what make me rage the most.

I too enjoy the retro games a lot more, the days of the mega drive were the days of my youth, learning sonic 2 by muscle memory

I didn't gave too much trouble with mixmaster, I found alternators wheeljack much more annoying. Still I wonder if they ever had any plans to do movieverse characters that actually never appeared in the movies...like wreckage, now that was one cool toy, as was his bludgeon repaint.

Yeah I do miss non-movie movie toys. Some of them had some really unique molds and ideas, some of my faves including RotF Bludgeon (cos it's my fave Decepticon toy ever), 2007 Arcee, RotF Mindwipe/Skystalker, Dropkick, Breacher, Hubcap, Brimstone, Wreckage, and Longarm and could count Insecticon since while they did appear on screen, they're too small to be comparable to the toy which was a rather neat and articulated lil creature and probably my fave attempt at any insect Transformer in both robot and bug form. :)

I forgot mindwipe/skystalker, skystalker is one of my favourite molds of all time because he's just pure fun to handle and transform. While I'm glad the movie series line exists to make sure the movie characters get better toys, I would like to see some attempt at remembering the new characters that filled spots on these lines in the past which were fantastic molds.

I managed to find a Thundercracker today thanks to a sighting right here on Seibertron. Thundercracker is the only studio series this TRU had which had me thinking. I'm wondering if Hasbro knew early enough about the remaining TRU's closing shortly after the 4/20 street date to divert any other non-exclusive studio series to other stores or just hold them back. I'd been hunting several TRU's for the past few weeks and most of them are pretty bare already and don't appear to be restocking any TF's. I haven't been to the one I actually found Thundercracker at before today, and that one seemed a little better stocked than the ones I usually hunt, but still had a pretty limited select except for the big pile of Thundercrackers.

Has anyone else found any other studio series at TRU besides Thundercracker?

At the moment of writing, every figure from the first wave of Transformers Studio Series wave 1 is on Amazon at their suggested retail prices. That includes the sought after leaders Blackout and Grimlock.

With the common distribution woes, many fans have opted to go online so hopefully this helps. They are bound to sell quickly. For those looking for them at brick and mortar, friend to the site Scottimus Prime has found the DCPI numbers for target (which are good for the entire line) and they are: 087-065842 (leader), 087-065840 (voyager), 087-065835 (deluxe). This can be used on brickseek to see if there are any in stock.

And now, here are the amazon listings:

Transformers Studio Series 08 Leader Class Movie 1 Decepticon Blackout 49.99

Transformers Studio Series 07 Leader Class Movie 4 Grimlock 49.99

Transformers Studio Series 06 Voyager Class Movie 1 Starscream 29.99

Transformers Studio Series 05 Voyager Class Movie 2 Optimus Prime 29.99

Transformers Studio Series 04 Deluxe Class Movie 1 Autobot Ratchet 19.99

Transformers Studio Series 02 Deluxe Class Movie 3 Decepticon Stinger 19.99

Transformers Studio Series 01 Deluxe Class Movie 1 Bumblebee 19.99

Transformers Studio Series 03 Deluxe Class Movie 3 Crowbar 19.99

I jumped on all the decepticons and an Optimus Prime. Skipping the rest. If they dont do all 4 dinobots in leader scale, I can live without grimlock. If they really want props, they need to do Hatchet, a 2 headed shockwave car and re-release deluxe benz soundwave in silver paint.

can a 3P/KO company upscale the deluxe (with some improvements) if nothing else?
