Well, I think it's suppose to be a movie you're suppose to sit back and enjoy more than anything.
It's not that hard to try and make it sense.
Planet was chosen to seed, a harvest was placed there due to its powerful sun, the allspark seeks out harvesters because they are connected. Megatron and sentinel were to meet there because Megatron knew there was a harvester there thanks to the Fallen being there at one point. They would meet up, use the harvester to recharge the allspark then use the space bridge to bring Cybertron there to rebuild it.
Yeah it's not what was intended but you can draw your own conclusions. John Barber sure did when he was tasked with writing the IDW comics and decided to fill holes and the allspark seeking out harvesters was a dropped plot element for ROTF

I dunno. That was the first Jetfire portrayal I actually liked. Never cared for other versions, even G1 (who I always disliked cos he was bland and also didn't look much like the awesome Valkyrie toy which is still one of if not the best G1 Transformer ever made)

Eh, it's entirely possible he'll die or just go away after a few movies and this will have been a weird little detour that won't really have shaped our perception of Hot Rod/Rodimus as a character archetype in the slightest and hence won't really be iconic. Happened with Wheeljack, right?

Posted by Sabrblade on May 8th, 2017 @ 11:17am CDT
For this one, the toy, cartoon, comic, and everything else were all "Shockblast", and his personality was so far removed from every other archetypal version of Shockwave (i.e. - Shockblast's being a psychopathic mass-murderer and maniac who thrived on emotions instead of being a stoic, calculating thinker and planner who casts aside emotions for pure logic), I'd really consider him an exception from those other examples despite the obvious Shockwave influence in his visual design.william-james88 wrote:This isn't Shockwave?
Despite the many shortcomings of the Energon cartoon, Shockblast made a name for himself by standing out as one of the legitimately cooler aspects of the show.

Other than the fact it isn't the G! version, what exactly is wrong with how this Roddy looks/speaks? Just because it isn't exactly like the original source doesn't necessarily make it bad. T o be honest, I prefer G1 Roddy, but I haven't seen enough of this one to make a large opinion yet.

Well, if I were to criticise the design itself; I would say it's rather bland and uninspired with an uninteresting colour scheme, no distinguishing visual characteristics and even looks like he's stolen his head from Bumblebee. On the basis of design alone, he's very forgettable and dime-a-dozen.
Haven't actually seen much of his character or his voice, though - haven't watched any clips since the original trailer. So I can't comment on that.
I was going to say here that I have to clarify my original point of the post wasn't to actually criticise this Hot Rod for not looking like G1 Hot Rod (that ship sailed back in 2007). But looking at that post I'm not actually sure what I was trying to say

I had no problems. Bay has shown from the very first movie that this isnt G1 so I dont know why fans havent caught onto that. They are just using G1 names and vague archetypes for the main characters. Aside from that, its really a new interpretation.

Looking back at the pictures and trailer, yeah, I agree about the design. But (as I"m annoyingly optimistic) I hope that his character will help him stand out. I actually like the French accent, for two reasons. One, I don't think we've ever had a character that sounds French (that i can recall, I could be wrong). And two, it makes Transformers more diverse. In the past they've either sounded mainly American (with your different variants) and British. But that's just me. If you hate the voice, hate the voice. It's just irritating to see that argument "It's bad b/c it's not MY Transformers".

Maybe it's less they haven't caught on and more they won't accept the fact that Transformers have moved on from the 80's. I see that a lot in the comments for videos on YouTube for "Ground Zero" ("TIll All are One"), "Dare", and similar songs that seem to show this.

Okay, now that I have that context, I'm just gonna sit back and laugh whenever I see hate on the movies. I'm not going to be able to see negative comments without seeing this post in my mind.
I personally love the movies. Sure, I find Bumblebee annoying, but that is my personal opinion. I do prefer the Aligned continuity (especially Prime), but the '07 movie and toyline was my first look at the brand and what got me hooked. So, while not my favorite, the movies hold that special place that the '84 cartoon does for people.

The credits call him Que/Wheeljack so for all intents and purposes he is Wheeljack enough that there will never be another attempt at the character in the current run of movies.
Which is good in my opinion I'm all for more use of obscure names like Barricades, Blackouts and Crosshairs or completely original names like Cogman or Dino characters with names that are not as nostalgic so people don't get false expectations based on previous versions of the characters.

Tis was a joke but hey if this really is Bay's last film he could give us a big send off with the most epic destruction of Earth.

That's supposed to be one of the goals of this movie yes as stated by Bay himself during the Imax fan preview although how it does is being kept secret until the movie comes out

"I do wonder what the fan's fixation is on American transformers."
But honestly not every original actor needs to come back nor do all Transformers need American accents so how about more Australian, French, Jamaican, Russian and so on especially a Canadian Transformer eh?
Mark Ryan was damn awesome as Jetfire and Lockdown and were some of the most entertaining characters in the films especially Lockdown being the best antagonist in these movies besides maybe Sentinel.

All I see is someone who is as passionate about this interpretation of Transformers as many fans here are passionate about G1. It seems no different than the fans who are ready to spend double the possible cost on a figure simply because Takara added a few paint apps making them more "show accurate".
We each have our passions. Sly's is the TF movies, and mine is women.

I think that's the best defence of Sly I've seen on the boards; at least his passion isn't creepy.

But I'm excited for this film as well since the movies are something I have a personal connection to they might not be the best films and I agree with that but damn if I don't find them one of the most entertaining experiences in my 19 years of life.
Especially being in the theater the first time it comes on for each film and the feeling I get in my chest like if I was watching a thrilling/horror movie is something not much else beats and the only other movie I've felt like that was during Rogue One's final battle.

Nothing creepy about loving my wife and daughter more than TFs.
