Thanks to Alex Kingdom for pointing out that eBay seller EasyNet Hobby Shop now have auctions up, with in package photos, for the following movie figures:
Autobot Jazz
Decepticon Brawl
Wreckage
Barricade with Frenzy
This is also the first time we have seen a robot mode or a name for that matter, for Wreckage.

AbsumZer0 wrote:Aha! So it wasn't Bonecrusher after all. What catalog supposedly had it labeled as such? In spite of the goofy pic of his face on the package front I quite like it.
Hahaha, that was my fault. That picture is in between Bonecrusher and "off road assult vehicle". They give the same discription for both figures. The catalogue was from the Hasbro direct wholesalers catalogue for the record. That's some steller organiztion that thing has going on there.

You put the Eiffel Tower "back" in London? Well, no one's perfect. But we do okay.

Nice alt mode, and decent robot mode.

Anybody else think Jazz's Telescopic Sword looks more like a Rifle than a sword?
Kinda reminds me of G1 Megs's gun mode with all the attachments.
In any case, I'm definitely getting Jazz, Ratchet, Brawl, and Barricade so far. Wreckage I'll have to see in person before I decide.
Any body else get the feeling Barricade started out as Movie Soundwave? Frenzy "ejects" from Barricade's chest?

Im not sure what to think of the whole Arcee thing... I mean I would expect any filler charecters to have either new names, or names of obscure charecters, so they dont inadvetently clash with any future movie plans, yet from what I can tell there has been no plan to include Arcee in this movie...
Anyway, yeah, I think I like Wreckage the most. Most of the others have an element of 'wtf?' about them.

So, certainly there has been some info on this that I just missed, but is there a target date for when any of them will be released? I'm sorry, alright, I don't remember hearing one.

B wrote:Gotta go with the crowd and express my like of Wreckage, but I am really liking Jazz. I even like his head/face. But what is up with all of these Movie TF's having swords, claws and Barricade's "Crushing Hydrolic Hands"?
Ouch
Melee combat is brutal, and can be more entertaining than a shootout. It's also easier to pose figurs in a melee than it is a shootout. I kind a like it.
And I think Jazz's sword can also double as a gun, which is good. The concept reminds me of the old Power Ranger Blade Blasters.

It looks like one of those spring-loaded billy clubs.

Anyway, here's my comments from the last thread:
Just noticed that too,
holy crap Jazz has an awesome head! Brawl's looks really cool too, these two guys (along with Barricade - who also has a pretty frikkin' scary head) are my top movie TFs so far, and I'm totally psyched for the leader-class Brawl!
Notice how Brawl has four eyes just like Barricade? I could live without that, the Decepticons are evil enough without having to look like insects...
Wreckage looks kinda cool, I'm sure I'll be digging alot of the non-movie TFs.

Hmmm... I just assumed automorphing was the way they were going to explain "bendy" metal. I was calling it transmorphing before, and I like my buzzword better.

when i look at brawl, i see him saying "ME GOT AXE!".
he's kool though.
when i see wreckage, i see megatron, or i think megaplex from machine wars.
he's kool.
when i see barricade i think "GOOD LARD! HE'S GONNA RAPE MY CAR AND THAT CROW ON STILTS IS GONNA GIVE ME A TICKET FOR SPEEDING AND CALL ME LUCY!!!!!"

In the toys, its a little gimmick that automatically transforms one part of the Robot when you transform another. It was explained with Ratchet, in a previous thread. Move his leg and a panel moves also to complete the transformation.

Actually, if I remember right, Arcee was going to be one of the Autobots in the earliest phases of the film. I'm wondering if the toyline-only characters might actually be derived in part from early concept art that went unused.

I think it's been pretty-well confirmed that Blackout originally started-out as Soundwave what with Skorponok being his 'cargo'. The toy is even cast in blue plastic with yellow lining around the windows. Barricade... I dunno. Nothing about him really screams 'Soundwave' to me. Then again, Megatron doesn't remind me much of Megatron either.

I'm getting a 'Strika' vibe from the tank dude, not sure why.
Wreckage looks pretty damn cool since he doesn't look too Bayformer. OMFG, is that an actual face and not a series of mandibles?

I actually like the look of these guys, I'll probably have a shelf dedicated to them like I do the beast machines. These will probably be filed under 'weird and unusual' rather than 'kickass and classic'. The weird and unusual tfs usually go untouched for years... Still they have their place, to sit there and make me appreciate classics more and more.
Seriously though these look fun and I hope the kids get some good enjoyment out of them. I just hope the movie isn't insanely successful and all tfs end up looking like that for the next 10 years...
Posted by SoulOfPrimus on February 1st, 2007 @ 1:55pm CST
There is a gearwork infrastructure to the toys so that when you transform a major piece (leg) the gearwork registers the movement and 'automorphs' the foot and kneecap into position for you. This is a similar idea to the gimmick used for the small Beast Wars figures like Rattrap, Terrorsaur, and 'Gator'tron.
As for the where/how of Frenzy, pull down Barricades rambar/grill and watch as Frenzy pops out a bit so you can grab him.
I'm starting to get the feeling that if they were to try to impliment Soundwave into a later movie, he would fail because they handed out his gimmick to not one, but two other Decepticons.
edit: Tacogrande types faster than me...

He definately bears a resemblance to Blastcharge, that hit me right away.
What ever happened to Bonecrusher anyway? We saw his vehicle all painted up for filming and such, but nothing since. Did he get scrapped in postproduction?
Edit: This may be obvious, but I'm guessing "Frenzy" is similar to the android Zeta from the Batman Beyond and Zeta Project series - a robot capable of disguising itself as a human (presumably a police officer) with holograms. That's kind of something Barricade would need to function effectively. Blackout's pilot in the movie trailor may be the same thing, rather than a completely holographic entity.

SmokeStack wrote:Isn't Wreckage the one who crashes through the bus or whatever in the trailer?
I can't believe so many people are still getting "Wreckage" and Bonecrusher confused.
Bonecrusher = Buffalo mine clearing vehicle. IS in the movie. Crashes through the bus at the end of the trailer
Wreckage = Armored transport. ONLY a toy, NOT in the movie, as will be the case with many other non-movie toys.
We just haven't seen much of Bonecrusher since he's probably one of, if not THE, most minor character in the movie.

We've seen pics of the 'testshot' for Scorponok. The toy has a bot mode, but it's really bad, and not much different from the Scorpion mode. Looks more like one of the little kids' playskool style Transformers.
Edit:

But even with him as a minor character, it seems really odd - he's the only movie former (AFAIK) that we haven't seen a proto of yet - and now we're getting nonmovie characters.
Still, we haven't seen Bumblebee's 2008 version either...

I know, I find it weird too... He's probably just part of the later waves, so no prototypes have leaked yet. If you look at the protos we've seen so far, they're all the figures from the "first wave" if you want to call it that, which would probably consist of:
Deluxe '78 Camaro Bumblebee
Deluxe Brawl
Deluxe Barricade
Deluxe Jazz
Deluxe Wreckage
Deluxe Scorponok
Voyager Ratchet
Voyager Blackout (maybe)
Leader Prime
Leader Megatron
Real Gear bots
We're still missing '08 Camaro Bumblebee, Ironhide, Bonecrusher, not to mention all the non-movie characters we saw listings for... they're all probably being saved for later waves, along with the various size classes of the figs we've already seen (i.e Leader Brawl, Deluxe Starscream, Voyager Prime and Megs...)

When I was looking at the backs of the packages I noticed all the low intelligence scores of the Decepticons. I think that there should be more than one or two Decepticons with a high intelligence. It makes the series more interesting. It looks like in this case all these are just going to be your typical dumb chasing, blowing things up type Decepticons.
