A Tuesday release date. Pullin' a Lucas here. Could work out well. Although I'm pretty sure a lot of the other movie companies are gonna be pissed about the change. Last I heard they had to figure out where to put FF4: Rise Of The Silver Surfer, and a few others so they wouldn't all go head to head.

I think I'm going to pass on watching the trailers. By now, I know enough. I don't want to watch any more of the movie before I watch it.

Most likely this move is because of recent news that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is now opening on July 11th, which will cut into Transformers' profits. I found the Potter info here:

I just hope its an July 3rd opening in the daytime and not just a night showing because if it's showing during the day then I'll be damned if I am going to work that day. My ass will be firmly planted in that seat at the earliest possible time. And the ushers wll have to pry my fat ass out of that chair whith a crowbar

Does this mean a 12:01am July 3rd opening or will it be like PotC that premeiered "a day early" at 8:00pm that evening?

Both of those are great news! A huge Hollywood opening, and day earlier to see the movie at home after I get back from Botcon (where I'll see the movie the first time)!

Though, this does kinda through the whole 747 marketing plan out the window.....

Meh, I've already requested the 4th off of work, and I've told (and been told by ) friends that we're planning to attend a showing on the 4th... So, maybe I'll sneak a showing on the 3rd when noone's looking, then go on the 4th with everyone else?

Eh, it's easy to see why. If they did it on the 4th, people would be hesitant to stay out late to see it b/c they would have to get up & go to work the next day. Now, the next day is a holiday, so that problem is solved.

Though when Independance Day did the same thing, it kinda ruined the gimmick of putting it on the 4th....Independance Day......

I cant get the videos to work on my PSP. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hey... I actually remember ID4 opening a day earlier. Guess my mind isn't as bad as I though it was!

But they do not always include it as the weekend gross, just an addition to the total gross since the majority of money will still come from the weekend, especially when no other movie opens that early on that weekend.

I know it's semantics, but to use an example from that holiday, Superman Returns last year, for both boxofficemojo and IMDb, had the Fourth of July total separate from its weekend tally:
