His botmode looks great, but that truckmode yikes.

The cab looks too evil.

I was leaning towards the Tak/Tom version because the red thighs are more OG toy accurate, but the white is growing on me. Plus when I find this, there's no way in H. E. double hockey sticks I can resist.

I honestly think CW Leader Ultra Magnus look way better than the MP version. It also look more fun and playable. The final win is he'll be around 70$CAN at full price with taxes instead of 300$.

I'd like to see how Ultra Magnus transforms exactly, especially where his legs end up. Because you know, white legs would stand out more if they were part of a red trailer bed.

Having only been brought back to Transformers for a couple of years now I can't get over their poseability and how strong their robot designs are. I'll spare the back in my day speech cuz I know I'm one of hundreds here but geez it just keeps getting better and better. Centerpiece material fer sure.

I kind of wish the blue was a little darker on Hasbro's Magnus. I'm tempted to do a little part swapping with this and the upcoming Takara version to give that one Hasbro's white thighs. I do wonder, though, if the white plastics will match between the two. Hasbro's looks a bit "off white" while Takara's may be more of a true white.

Hasbro: WELL FRIKKIN' DONE!!! This is the Ultra Magnus that the fans deserve and the kids and collectors want. This guy looks just as good as the masterpiece version and a quarter the price. His trailer even looks like it opens up and I bet we can stick a few deluxes in that trailer. The cockpit is awesome and the IDW design just stands out spectacularly. I will buy this, no if's, and's, but's or Rated X's about it.

Until we see a side by side shot under the same lighting it'll be impossible to tell... I'm happy with the White thighs on the Hasbro version, won't need to pay extra for the Takara version and I do want Minimus Ambus. And Ten.

but this mold is also so unique to this G1 look it might not be done but on the other hand evey leader class since jetfire has had another character made from the same toy so it would be expected

IDW Magnus is Generation One Magnus. Just another iteration of G1 continuity

No. They are two completely different characters. IDW is based off of G1, but that's it, and loosely at that.

Never mind, misread that; the point is Takara replaces the Freddie Mercury minimus ambus minifigure with Alpha Trion. It's not a new mold, just a purple repaint of ambus. So going with TT's you lose most of what makes this version of Ultra Magnus IDW.

IDW Magnus is Generation One Magnus. Just another iteration of G1 continuity

No. They are two completely different characters. IDW is based off of G1, but that's it, and loosely at that.

IDW's main comic is a new and different version of G1, is what people mean. There is no one single "G1 Ultra Magnus", as there's the cartoon version, the UK Marvel Comics version, the Dreamwave comics version, the IDW comics version, and more.

Honestly if you're you want something so obscure Takara dosen't even care about it; you might be going to far. Also Alpha trion makes sense in that depening on your view of the Magnus/prime relationship, it's like getting Optimus prime's brother, and mentor in the same pack. Honestly I doubt takara will even acknowledge the minifigure's meant to go in ulttra magnus's chest.

It would have been great if the cavity in Magnus could have been configured to fit a full-size CW Legends class figure. As it is, it's cool, but Minimus Ambus is too darn small (cute as a button, though!).

No. They are two completely different characters. IDW is based off of G1, but that's it, and loosely at that.
IDW's main comic is a new and different version of G1, is what people mean. There is no one single "G1 Ultra Magnus", as there's the cartoon version, the UK Marvel Comics version, the Dreamwave comics version, the IDW comics version, and more.

exactly, Generation One is not just the original cartoon or original comic. IDWs main universe is a Generation One universe. Why do you think the IDWs Magnus is in the Gernreation One section of tfwiki.net or this toy under the G1 toys page.

It's a Generation One universe. One of many.

thats like saying Reveal the Shield Spec Ops Jazz isnt a G1 character because it was called "reveal the shield" it is. it's G1 Jazz.
