More Images - Takara Transformers Unite Warriors Guardian and Grand Convoy

Something that has just struck me as odd with takara prime. The matrix/spark of combination on his chest. Back when prime was first announced I was sure that Takara would pay special detail to it but to see it there unpainted is a bit disappointing.

Not to mention no ports for Hot Rod.

Optimus has the ports they're the red spots on the chest.

There are. It's just the perspective of the image makes them look shot. Check it out again.

But i fear that just like the rest of the molds, the Runabout/Hotrod holes won't fit snuggly.

Well, given that Takara's Menasor and Ultra Prime/Optimus Maximus/Grand Convoy Prime/man-this-guy-has-a-lot-of-names don't come with a chest minion, I don't see why they would retool it.

But at least the insides of the two flaps are now shiny dark silver instead of just solid red. And other little details surrounding the Matrix-styled design are colored to homage Energon Optimus.

I would be interested in getting it if it were a more reasonable price (an sdcc exclusive is cheaper through hts than uw devs is through bbts or importing, kinda frightening, isn't it)

It's possible they might release him; I would hope that they would do something original with it - since they already have a magnus - and release him as nova prime, or something.

I forget where I bought mine, but I know it was at least two, if not more, stores. Yeah, I'm pretty sure my orange Mixmaster came from KB, probably on sale or clearance. (The rest of my G2 Devy are yellow)

I mean, I guess, technically, Superion had all the right ones, because of the retooled nature of each limb bot, but Menasor had two of Drag Strip's and two of Dead End's (though the latter possibly owes to Dead End and Wildrider having the same tooling, again) and Defensor seems to come with two from Blades, and two from First Aid (This time, no shared limb retooling). Optimus has 4 unique weapons for his limbs.

Europe to be exact, and they got them at least twice: during the original G1 run in the 80's, and again, unnamed and without the bits to combine them into Devastator, in 1992. I don't think they ever got G2 Devastator...

I don't know, I kinda like Hasbro Mirage and SunStreaker better. I like that they painted Prowl's "head lights" in robot mode, but I'm fine with the Hasby deco. I'm not feeling the grey face either. the only reason their faces were grey in the show is because they were approximating the silver with the paint they had. TF's heads/faces are silver and should stay that way. At least on these classic characters.
I'm fine with the Domestic decos. Just MLP. (my little 'pinion)

I don't know, I quite like the individual takara decos. The darker colours seem to fit better for mirage

I agree. Mirage and Streaker look better in hasbro colors and Prowl, while there are details that look nicer on Takara, the hasbro one still looks very good.

What is with Hasbro's persistence in using that weird greenish shade of yellow for Sunstreaker?

No. It is not Optimus Maximus, nor is it Ultra Prime.

It is "Convoy Grand Prime", written in plan English on the box.



All of the Unite Warriors boxes write the English names in English (meaning that Unite Warriors Guardian has his name written as "Defensor" in English), so this isn't a case of "Convoy Grand Prime" being just the Japanese name of either Ultra Prime or Optimus Maximus. This is a third combiner form for Optimus.

yeah, I think people have a tough time understanding because it is indeed a tad bit confusing but in truth the CW and UW lines together have given us a total of 3 different Combiners where Optimus is the torso:

Ultra Prime (the red torso with any limbs)
Optimus Maximus (white torso with the first phase of 84 bot limbs)
Convoy Grand Prime (red torso with the first phase of 84 bot limbs)

This does make me ask adumb question Sabr. Is it only Convoy Grand Prime if I buy the takara UW set? Or can I make my own Convoy Grand Prime using the hasbro versions of those molds/decos? If I put the red hasbro optimus torso with the hasbro autobot limbs is he still Ultra prime (since he is all hasbro) or does he become the hasbro deco version of Convoy Grand Prime?
